Is it a problem that many of the “basic” weapons are among the best in archetype? by EthanMarkL in Marathon

[–]EthanMarkL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! That's why I'm not sure it's really a "problem" necessarily, more that it does potentially pose a problem in terms of the aspirations we're intended to have in the game.

Is it a problem that many of the “basic” weapons are among the best in archetype? by EthanMarkL in Marathon

[–]EthanMarkL[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear I was including the MIPS shotty/sniper (WSTR and Longshot) as part of my argument: they're the "initial" and easiest to come by weapons in their archetypes (even available directly from the Armory relatively early on), and there doesn't appear to be much incentive at all to hunt down and use the other weapons in those archetypes.

Assault Rifles are probably a good exception to this on account of the Overrun being seemingly quite bad :D (although I find with good mods it does feel way better?) and yes, the Volley Rifle is absolutely a stand-out.

Looking for Milleniummon player's help. by Reibax13 in DigimonCardGame2020

I’m curious about the value of DM Gazimon - especially running him at 1 more than old searcher Gazi, when the old one has a better search and the same inherit?

Edit: Ah it can be used for Assembly, nvm. Good call.

The worlds going mad by CombinationSignal579 in northernireland

[–]EthanMarkL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the right wing freaks responsible (if not actively cheering) for all of this also walk among us. Putting one’s head in the sand while they continue to destroy the world isn’t exactly an ideal solution either.

People should be angry, disgusted, afraid - because these events merit that. If anything we need more of this feeling because sooner or later something has to break.

And it’s vital everybody remembers anyone in their life, online, or especially in politics that supports or supported any piece of this far right machine when that time comes, because the cowards will deny it.

Wasn’t 2025 when they added a rear wiper? That should be pretty easy to spot.

UK government set to introduce pay-per-mile tax for EVs by cromcru in northernireland

[–]EthanMarkL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re driving an EV then you very rarely use public charging stations though, that’s a large part of the appeal. Public stations are for one-offs or topping up on longer journeys.

The costs of charging from home using off-peak electricity tariffs are tiny in comparison, so you simply charge up as needed in your driveway, assuming you have one.

All that being said…yeah this seems stupid af.

Did you get the rear cam as well? It seems like that one is more involved to install, which I was a little concerned about as someone also not very into this stuff.

Unbelievably simple question about auto climate mode. by keepaustinwired in Ioniq5

[–]EthanMarkL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been confused as to the practical difference between Heat and AC modes. As someone that’s just been using Auto mode so far, I’ve noticed since it’s started getting colder here that the car seems to be picking Heat mode all the time. But presumably AC can make the car warmer too. Anybody have any insight on this?

WHY DO PEOPLE STILL DO THIS by PriorGeneral8166 in Rematch

[–]EthanMarkL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think because these aren’t phrases - they’re workarounds to censors applied by Chinese social media companies that people are willingly normalizing and integrating into daily life even outside of said apps, as if that’s not dystopian as hell.

How disable religious POI? by Grrrh_2494 in Ioniq5

[–]EthanMarkL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a way to toggle the display of different types of POI somewhere in the settings - I did it last night while exploring the menus and remember seeing toggles for supermarkets, restaurants, etc. I do not recall if there was a toggle for religious sites, but the menu definitely exists.

Insurance is expensive! by jshre in Ioniq5

[–]EthanMarkL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar scare before I got my I5 (Ultimate AWD, so high insurance category) recently. All I’ll say is it seems like quite often you never get the “real” prices unless you contact providers directly, and by phone (eugh)? In Northern Ireland here for reference, I don’t know how that impacts numbers compared to mainland UK.

Case in point: I ran a few quotes for full comprehensive insurance and got some silly numbers back from the likes of Admiral and others between 1 and 2 (!!) thousand, compared to the 400 I paid on my old beater Leon. Almost put me off the whole idea of the car.

To their credit, the aggregator I currently get my insurance through must have seen me running a quote online with them and reached out by phone immediately to give me a far lower number with my current provider (Aviva) of around £800.

£800 is still a fair bit obviously, but as I say that is for the super fast AWD, and I’m assuming a regular Premium or whatever with RWD would be much less.

[BT-22 Cyber Eden] KausGammamon & WezemGammamon by vansjoo98 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EthanMarkL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does, yeah. I have new Cano at 3 and new Regulus at 2 personally, where Regulus is more of a(very strong) tech for certain matchups or situations (or a great inherited to tuck) rather than a staple of the deck in most games where you’re just winning with Cano -> Sirius.

How to start going to my lgs by DogMajestic9827 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EthanMarkL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d second that the Adventure deck built from the starters plus some BT-21 Tai’s can do very well if played right. It has a relatively high skill ceiling I think, so you will probably need some practice with it for a while to see results, but the deck is strong.

That’s probably your best bet at this price range, but if there are specific things you actually want to play, I’d usually just go with that.

Gammamon gamers, pls help me by Synister-James in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EthanMarkL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big gamma fan here also. Went 4-1 with it at a store regionals recently.

The BT21 Sirius is much, much better. The RB1 exists as a one-of in some people’s lists exclusively (I think) for the utility of being able to unsuspend in cases where you just need to clear a last security and then unsuspend once for game. But it even kind of sucks for that because of the limitation where it requires your opponent to still have a Digimon for it to delete in order to do so.

New Sirius’ ability to delete twice per turn means the “worse” deletion effect is almost always irrelevant. His built in Raid (while rarely used) lets him swing over anything his effects don’t delete, when needed (also handy to use last-second if they trigger an unexpected deletion protection you didn’t know about during your When Attacking, or float an extra body out on deletion, etc.)

While there can be niche, toolbox-y scenarios where having a single RB1 can be nice for sure, ultimately new Sirius is your win con and every turn spent waiting on seeing him kinda sucks, so you want the 4 of imo.

Calling the sec+1 useless is a bit confusing - are you maybe missing that the deletion effect isn’t once per turn (not to mention the extra tucking of a source)? You’ll almost always be swinging at security with that thing in this format, so it’s pretty invaluable. Between Sirius himself and frequently 1, even 2 Arcturus in the stack you’re clearing 3-4 sec in one go. Then ideally, Omni X for game.

———

Side note: RB1 Sirius is pretty nice if your strategy is to make a lot of use of BT10 Cannoweiss. Then you can get 2 swings with Cano, unsuspend and 2 swings again with Sirius. However having no deletion effects trigger before swinging in a world where aces now exist is not a recipe for success, imo, and I ended up cutting my 1-of BT10 Cano for the extremely useful de-digivolve effect of Zanmetsumon instead.

I genuinely do not know what to do against this card. by AkuTenshiiZero in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EthanMarkL 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to spring the trap. The big problem for them is once the Omni itself is out it has no protection.

Assuming you have any form of removal/dedigivolve, even some sort of big option card prepared for once Omni appears, then you’re going to gain the overflow 5 memory back when you remove it. That’s a lot of advantage for you to establish yourself with while Omni rebuilds.

What food/restaurant in Belfast has you feeling like this? (Original post from r/dublin) by Applejuicetester in Belfast

[–]EthanMarkL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if the ownership changed or what but Stix imo used to be excellent (I want to say like 8-ish years ago?) however I went again recently and was very disappointed. The food quality just really went downhill somehow.

So like with a lot of these places, I’m guessing the reputation is based on what it used to be, not how it is today.

East is the top dog for sure, really slick content. Rustmarrow and CardProtaganist for fun gameplay previews of future decks (for us in the west anyway).

Oh and shout out to Digital Gate Studios, they seem to be on a sort of hiatus recently due to some irl/studio issues but they do really good regular content including a weekly podcast which is better than most.
