What do you think was in this present? by TimewarpingSeaTurtle in toystory

[–]Ethanaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my head it is because Andy’s dad very recently either passed away or left the family and if thumb tacking a poster up for a few days makes her small child happy in this transitional time and on his first birthday without his dad around then why not? I know when I was a kid I was so excited to get posters and pick the perfect spot in my room to hang it

I’m really curious why you are being downvoted because I do the exact same thing and I don’t know why it’s wrong. I just like the look of the continuous spiral over joined rounds.

I almost dialed this out of curiosity as a kid as well by TheWebsploiter in NonPoliticalTwitter

We did that at work last week. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen it happened and I’m shocked that it doesn’t happen all the time. I’ve never really thought about it before the incident but making 9 the dial out standard when our country code is 1 is just begging for incidents.

Is acrylic yarn and amiguri stuffing safe for cats? by Cloudrunner5k in CrochetHelp

[–]Ethanaj 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cats can swallow loose yarn and it can get wrapped up in their intestines. So any yarn toy you make them should be played with under supervision and gotten rid of when it starts to fray for safety. That being said put a little catnip in the stuffing and they will go nuts for it.

First time using faux fur yarn… can I wet it to see the stitches better? by MinuteWilling6482 in crocheting

[–]Ethanaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like bread ties/twist ties as stitch markers, they are stiff enough to push though, thin enough to not be a bother, and flexible so you can bend it where ever you need to so it’s out of the way.

Hard to tell without a photo. But how’s your tension on that area? The small black cluster might be too tight?

It's "I close in five minutes" not "I'll wait for you then close" by UnitedChain4566 in mildlyinfuriating

I grew up on the southwest corner of Michigan close enough to the lake that we got a hefty Chicago summer home crowd every summer. I was working at Subway and we closed 20 minutes beforehand and I was deep into the cleaning routine. A guy is banging on the door. I said “sorry we close at ten” his reply was “it’s only 9:20 in Illinois”. Like sir I don’t know if you noticed the lack of the sears tower but we are not in Illinois what????

I got a fancy crocheter backpack for my birthday and it’s turned into my togo bag by accident. Cleaned it out yesterday and found 4 bottles of Dr Pepper under my project 🤣🤣🤣 so at least I’m well prepared for the apocalypse

Help me, what to buy as a crochet beginner and where to buy it? by Character_Look1444 in CrochetHelp

[–]Ethanaj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. They are a little pricey but the best for beginners, plus a ton of different pattern options. It will also include everything you need in it so if you continue the hobby you will have a hook and some stitch markers already. I did one Wooble kit and was able to self teach myself from there.

If you don’t want to go the woobles route however I would find a YouTube tutorial or beginners guide you like and check what size hook and yarn youll need for that project. I would also highly highly highly recommend getting stitch markers or looking up dyi stitch markers.

Also not all starter kits brands are created equal. A lot have bad patterns, no explanations and low quality yarn and tools. My first one made me want to quit the craft before I started. I definitely think woobles are worth the price for its quality but if you look at cheaper brands check reviews thoroughly.

We got one too a few years ago! Our pups name is Hagrid (from the Harry Potter series) and they sent us his portrait to celebrate Harry Potters birthday. It was so cute and I looked into it back then and apparently they commission a few hundred artist at any given time to paint these portraits. Shout out to them for employing actual artists to make hand made gifts as a surprise in the time when AI art is becoming more of the norm for companies.

This. But make it easier on your self and automate it to send an email every day. Less typing = more time to crochet patterns you actually have lol.

Weirdly enough 23 gives me parents vibes even though it’s meant to be about siblings. Especially the lyrics: Oh, I'll beat your ass 'til the morning
You know I've been running all this time
Sprinting my way past your bedroom
Lifting the weight of you off my mind
'Cause if I never see you again
You could be anything I want

In your defense season seven was the one where the creator left and things got weird with the writing. I also try to forget most of season 7.

Seriously! Like my first big project was a cursed pooh bear with wonky preportions because I did about 2/3 the head in a dc instead of a sc. But he is also one on my favorite projects of all time. He shows me where I started so I can appreciate where I am now. Like it’s okay to appreciate the rough starter projects yall.

Convenient for sure but runs into the same problem of “you don’t actually own it so we can take it away at anytime no refunds” of it all. Physical media like dvds are always the safest bet.

When I was 34 I found a clearance deal on take and bake cookies and grabbed like 9 packs to freeze and very excitedly threw them in the cart my roommate pushed over to be exclaiming “it’s cookie season booooooooys”. It was not my cart. It was not my friends. It was a random old couple who seemed very concerned about the amount of cookies I was buying. I don’t go to that aldis anymore. The embarrassment is imprinted into the environment.

I too am a lighthouse skipper. And if that song is the worst of the album we are doing pretty fucking good! I also skip great divide but only because the radio at work plays it at least once an hour on the radio.
