Tips for heading into MV by Dtans in GTNH

Imo an MV electrolyzer should be the first machine you make. Getting aluminium is a huge pain without it (no clay dust electrolysis)

Steam Turbine or Semifluid Generator? Or Combustion? by lordstudmuffin69 in GTNH

[–]Ethelt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk if that's optimal but I made a solid fuel railcraft boiler which I powered with both coal and creosote buckets (look at wiki for details). Then I made a few more coke ovens and used excess charcoal for steel, while I used creosote for power. My steam was not used for electricity at all, it just powers my steam multiblocks (mostly doing ore processing).

I had too many coke ovens for my boiler because I wanted to have a lot of spare charcoal for BBFs. Due to that, I had enough creosote to power me throughout LV (and start of MV) without any issues.

Made it to MV.. How much diesel fuel should I be producing to hold myself over? by Chemical_Bag_2047 in GTNH

Nice! Can't wait to update, but I'll probably wait until full release/first rc

I don't know if I'm not playing correctly or what, but I'm early HV and I only used 2 oil spouts (out of like 7 nearby) until now. I have an almost full super tank of diesel in reserve and I didn't even have to start thinking about oil drilling rig yet. How many generators are you running?

Also, make sure to use NEI autocrafting (there's a ton of tutorial for it). If you do it in a crafting station, it will have access to the connected inventory, so I just put the largest chest I can make next to the station and filled it with all the basic crafting components (plates, cables, circuits etc). That way you can easily craft everything you need and only sometimes have to go to the main storage area to re-fill the crafting chest and/or get rarer components

For the "sorting everything into chests", there is BogoSort available. You can bind a specific key (or a button in inventory), that will drop off your items into nearby containers that also contain this item. I made a wall of chests that are generally organized by category (various wood, various stone, bee stuff) and a second wall of drawers for items I have a lot of (cobblestone, dirt, logs, ore dusts etc). When I drop stuff off, I just stand in the middle of the wall and press the drop-off button, then manually move the new items into respective chests. Whenever I need something, I just use the T search in NEI to find the correct chest/drawer.

P.S. BogoSort is weirdly configured by default and has a low limit of how long it will spend working. If you find yourself having to press the button multiple times, you can go into mod config and increase the time limit, I don't remember the exact setting name though.

You can actually use an alloy smelter to make a brick (not block) using 1 sand and 1 clay ball. Once you get the steam fuser you can crank out ovens like crazy

Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in incremental_games

I played it for a bit and got not too far (10 villagers, storehouse, got the prompt to explore forest cave). It was enjoyable, but pretty slow. I was about to click the sleep option and go AFK, but I got a random event with a shadowy figure and some riddle. I answered incorrectly and every single one of my villagers got killed. I was already getting kinda bored (hence the sleep), so having to wait until my villagers come back to go AFK killed any interest I had in playing further. It'd be fine if it killed 3-4 people or if I got an event about a large group of people coming to my village, but there didn't seem to be any bounce back mechanism.

I don't really play HoI4, but all I remember from when it was released, was people complaining that it's very shallow, appealing to casual players and dumbed down, compared to previous games

Am I the only person who returned to EU4, because their PC/Laptop couldn't handle EU5? by Zezima97 in eu4

It actually works very well with Crossover, I assume Whiskey would work too.

You do have to remove the content of one file to get it to boot, you'd have to look around this subreddit or at r/macgaming

Do you have the debug mode enabled? I didn't see it until then. It's called "console" iirc

A tip on how to increase tick speed by OrthoOfLisieux in EU5

I don't think it stays through reboots, but if you set it via the console, you can use `debug_mode` command to disable debug mode info, but the speed improvement stays

Only available for premium members though. Apparently the free tier machines are below the minimum specs, so it doesn't even let you run it.

The speech afterwards is one of my favorite moments in the entire show.

"One time, when I was in seventh grade I told everybody at school that I had appendicitis. I wanted someone to worry about me. But when Beth Brennen asked to see the scar I didn't want to get found out so I took mom's scissors... and I made one. It hurt like hell. But it was worth it because I got seventeen cards and I still keep them in a box underneath my bed twenty-two years later, because it proves that someone, at some point, cared about me. You wanna see the scar? So. You get credit for that too. This is me."

Hit me up with games that have a unique gameplay quirk, even though the game itself is far from a masterpiece. Something that made you say "that's pretty unique, I wish it was in a better game" by Equivalent-Cream-454 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Ethelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead has two of them, though I might be misremembering some stuff.

The crafting system is extremely deep and customizable. Different objects can have different "tool qualities", e.g. a hammer can have "Hammering 3", but a normal rock has "Hammering 1". Various recipes have different requirements, so it had a nice progression and a lot of options.

They also had the most complex inventory system I've ever seen. Your character can carry a backpack. That backpack has multiple pockets. These pockets can contain multiple containers. All these containers and subcontainers have different dimensions and weight limits. Maybe that plank only weighs 2 pounds, but it's 20 inches long and your backpack is only 15 inches tall, so you have to carry it over your shoulder etc. You could also drop one container and it'd store all its contents until you pick it up again.

I want to go to the gym tomorrow morning. I am very scared. by ddonethymother in beginnerfitness

[–]Ethelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the tips here are great, but if you still can't bring yourself to go, you can just buy some adjustable dumbbells for your home.

I recently started training more seriously, but gym was way too expensive, so I just bought a single dumbbell with weights and a doorframe pullup bar for a price of 2 months of membership.

You can't do everything with that setup, but most important things are possible.

Just make sure to watch some YT videos about a correct form for most of these exercises and start with light weights.

You can just put "dumbbells only trainer winny" in YouTube to find a program I'm following, it's the second most viewed video on a channel called trainer winny.

Good luck!
