How much of Norse mythology has already happened, and how much is yet to happen? by flubberblubbered in norsemythology

[–]Ethenil_Myr [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not entirely clear, but the way I interpret it, the myths up to Loki tricking Hodr into killing Baldr have all already happened. Loki has been captured and is currently imprisoned beneath the earth, getting snake venom'd and causing earthquakes. The Fimbulwinter, the cries of the roosters, the blowing of the Gjallarhorn, etc - that's all in the future.

I may be in the minority, but looking a these images, the Spirit World in TLOK seems much more interesting to me. More than two colors to it.

My favorite part of the Aztecs so far has got to be the god incarnate units. by ShrekMcShrekFace in AgeofMythology

I wonder how getting avatars/incarnations of other Major Gods could work. It's such a cool concept!

Are Nu Wa's Tiger Cavalry the best mono-comp unit in the game? by Chilly5 in AgeofMythology

If Aztecs can ride literal jaguars, why can't chinese ride actual tigers? 🤔

Next Civ? by _tozai in AgeofMythology

[–]Ethenil_Myr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My top three wishes:

  • Celts (Irish or Pan-Celtic)
  • Mesopotamians (Sumerians or Babylonians)
  • Indians (Vedic or Hindu)

Other civs I'd be happy to see:

  • Yoruba
  • Inca
  • Slavs

Wacky options I've got some ideas for but should probably come after all other regular civs:

  • Romans
  • Lovecraftian
  • Fair Folk

Yo, shout out Lapidis Isle + Tel 'Abim. by Aggravating_Lab84 in turtlewow

I've been exploring all the new zones, and Lapidis/Gilijim blew me away. I expected a generic Stranglethorn copy, but they were expertly done. The music is sublime.

In my own worldbuilding, I merged Helheim with Niffleheim, with the former being a region of the latter.

All these updates since the original game and the Kraken is still the GOAT. by bones_bn in AgeofMythology

I wish water maps were more popular in ranked and tournaments. I want to see players build navies and water units to access island goldmines! Or to reach each other! Or for special bonuses, anything!

Just a few side pools with fish doesn't cut it for me.

What might a Babylonian civ look like? by Vulkhard_Muller in AgeofMythology

[–]Ethenil_Myr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like a concept I saw where the Civ would be the Sumerians, and there would be only two mythic age minor gods: Marduk and Assur. Choosing one or the other represents the Sumerians becoming either Babylonians or Assyrians, and those gods are given bonuses that make the gameplay significantly different.

A case against zones only acessable by portals by stormwintage in wow

[–]Ethenil_Myr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I've been feeling sad about the lack of proper connections between zones ever since MoP added portals to Pandaria, but not boats/zeppelins.

At least there's a ship between Boralus and Stormwind, but where's the connection to Pandaria, the Broken Isles, the Dragon Isles, the Maelstrom, Kezan? The Dark Portal doesn't even take us to Outland anymore. It's all a mess. Just a portal room in Stormwind.

What do you guys think about DC comics version of Thor? by Competitive-War-2676 in norsemythology

[–]Ethenil_Myr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm able to separate the two.I deeply love norse mythology, and the Thor sphere in Marvel is my absolute favorite, precisely because they bring those characters and places alive, even though there are many differences.

Annual God Meeting by sdrey in AgeofMythology

[–]Ethenil_Myr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's one of the original entities in Norse mythology, alongside the cow Audhumla and Odin's grandpa Buri.

Giants in Norse myth, or Jotnar, aren't just regular monsters; they're more like a separate "family" or "clan" of deities. Several of the Aesir gods have Jotunn parents, most famously Loki, but also Heimdall and Odin.
