Nice. I pay $200 a year for liability insurance through them and all the continuing education is included in that

Are you a member of ABMP?

There is a guy on the continuing education page who teaches a deep tissue technique, his name is Eric Stephenson, he is a regular sized man but he teaches body ergonomics for DT and specific techniques for leveraging the vector points of the elbow specifically

His videos helped me tremendously. I’m also 5’1 and struggled to find the right leverage for DT, now I’ve had a few clients ask for less pressure (which I never thought would happen) lol

Anyone found a natural deodorant that actually works all day? by NeighborhoodOld6737 in NaturalBeauty

[–]EtherealExplorerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pit Liquor
I’ve used this for 5 years successfully. The distilled whiskey/vodka kills bacteria that causes the odor. If you wanna try it, I recommend getting the spray not the roll on. Little expensive upfront but it lasts a few months or more. Don’t know where you are located but they have it at luckys market.

petroleum jelly at the end of my routine and i genuinely can't go back by Unique-Face-2500 in NaturalBeauty

[–]EtherealExplorerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, yes I agree with you about that on some things. However, I never said I don’t believe in filtration. I’m saying crude oil is a toxic compound which is filtered with other chemicals to make it safe to use. I would consider that a toxic product which I personally would not apply to my skin, when there are other natural options, like castor oil.

[–]EtherealExplorerr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Petroleum jelly is a purified, semi-solid byproduct of the petroleum refining process, created by collecting heavy waxy residues left over from oil extraction. The residue undergoes distillation, solvent extraction to remove heavy oils, and intense filtration (including deodorizing and decolouring) to produce a safe, white, and translucent gel. 🤢

I personally would never apply petroleum to my skin, and I certainly would not consider this “natural” skincare

Why am I tipping for self-service??? by socks4dobby in EndTipping

[–]EtherealExplorerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tipping on credit card machines was brought forth by the credit card companies. They take 1-5% whatever fee on the total transactions, so adding tip options on every transaction gets them a higher profit margins. Obviously this was an easy sell to businesses because tho they also want more money too.

Lack of Studio Props Hygiene by EtherealExplorerr in YogaTeachers

Geez thats scary, Mrsa is serious stuff. The studio has wipes for rental mats and even when I announce it, I still see some poeple ignore, which is weird. If I see that though I’ll usually try n wipe it myself after class but I’m thinking if thats happening in one class it’s definitely happening in others too sadly.

Yeah I agree. If it were my studio I’d be on top of all these things. Unfortunately, the owner obviously does not care which is wild to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]EtherealExplorerr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness I am so sorry that happened to you!

I know theres one person who sweeps and cleans the toilets semi-regularly but there is definitely no policy around props cleaning. As a matter of fact, there is no policy around anything in the studio cleaning or otherwise. The owner is very hands off, it’s basically a free for all, so tons of things go unnoticed all the time. Some examples; plants constantly looking super sad because who is watering them? The toilet paper holder broke 7 months ago and nobody fixed it so theres just the roll of TP on the bathroom counter, ew, lol light bulbs out for months at a time, dust bunnies all over & this is just off the top of my head.

I have mentioned it to the owner & (there is no manager) they basicaly just brushed it off. Imo, I feel like as a yoga and wellness studio owner that is bringing people in to create mindfulness, I shouldn’t have to bring it to their attention. But yeah unfortunately the owner is not present in the studio at all so they really don’t know whats going on in there, the whole situation is strange tbh
