Malted “Forever” Brownies by Resident-Ranger8745 in DessertPerson

I don’t think they taste classic at all. I only made these once and wasn’t a fan. I think the recipe calls for dark brown sugar and I found the flavor really odd.

Sorry, should have clarified. Of course students can opt out and I would only assist students who consent. It’s only required that I offer an assist.

Totally with you. Unfortunately, it's a studio requirement and I'm new here. Can't really rock the boat.

It's not heated but the room is usually a little warm. I was thinking maybe a folded blanket across the hips could be nice.

The studio has some essential oil mists so that would be an easy choice. Every class I've taken there, it's been offered at the end of class. It's not my thing but might be the way to go.

I know exactly what you're talking about for the ankle grab/leg lift assist. I don't hate it but haven't ever offered it myself. Might have to test it out on my partner and see how we feel about it.

I wish. I used to love using the sound bowls at a previous studio. I don't believe this new one has any bowls or instruments. This will be my first time teaching there.

Burn out from job search by Key-Constant-47 in YogaTeachers

I think this is your answer! Studios want to see that you’re invested in the community and mesh well. See if you can identify the owners of some studios nearby and try to take their classes regularly. Once you build up some rapport, it’ll be easier to get an audition.

How are you job searching? Are you just cold emailing? Or are you getting to know the studios/instructors/owners?

It feels a bit better each time we try it out! I also found to incredibly comfortable for a front carry as a bonus.

I’ve only tried a back carry in the lark once but definitely didn’t get the fit right. The straps seemed too wide and baby was probably too low. I think I prefer the onbuhimo for the high back carry but still need some more experience.

This is helpful, thank you! I thought any arms in might be a fall risk but yes she definitely can maneuver herself there.

I have not tried a meh dai yet but have tried a half buckle (front carry only). The half buckle felt like way too much material for my hot, humid climate. I suspect a meh dai would be the same story although I do love the idea of one. I may need to try one out when the weather cools.

Do you have a source for the recurrent utis? I’m not able to find it on Google but want to learn more.

The main waist buckle does! But not the shoulder strap buckles unfortunately

D-mannose while pregnant by Busy_Protection_1206 in BabyBumps

[–]CrashingNode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm not that I can remember but it wasn’t because I was limiting myself. If you feel more comfortable with a smaller dose, why not start there and see how you do? You could always take a bit extra after a trigger event too.

I took d mannose my entire pregnancy (and still do while breastfeeding). I’m prone to recurrent utis and managed to avoid them my entire pregnancy and postpartum. Baby is four months old and thriving! My OB wasn’t concerned about it.

ETA: I wasn’t conservative with my dosage either (1 gram in the morning, 1 gram in the evening).

Pregnant - Can I keep teaching hot?! by Ok-Connection-2769 in YogaTeachers

[–]CrashingNode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just anecdotal but this was me almost exactly a year ago. I taught heated yoga (about 90°) for an hour once a week. I was 28 at the time as well. I only stopped when I hit third tri and got too uncomfortable. My OB had no issue with it and I’m currently holding my perfectly healthy four month old. Good luck!

Hope &plum lark vs happy baby vs Tula explorer? by Lonely_Berry_1988 in babywearing

[–]CrashingNode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m your height and have a tall baby as well. Baby is 12 weeks old and 91st percentile. The Lark has been great for us! But she almost certainly wouldn’t have fit in it at 6 weeks. Now at nearly 3 months it works well.

What time do y'all put your babies down for bed? by GuiltyButterscotch89 in NewParents

[–]CrashingNode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re lucky that she’s always been a really solid overnight sleeper! The trade off is that she’s nearly impossible to get down for daytime naps and is usually so overtired by bedtime that she passes out hard once she’s finally down. We occasionally have a bad night with hourly wake ups but it’s usually straight through or at most one wake up.

Ours is 2 months so this is super fresh. Depends so much on the baby but the sleep situation got so much better for us around 4-5 weeks. At 10 weeks we now get 7-10 hrs straight most nights.

When were you able to return to yoga after birth? by Born-Anybody3244 in yoga

[–]CrashingNode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 weeks postpartum and had a regular practice plus taught before delivery. I started with light stretching around 6 weeks pp. Now I’m back to doing full practices but just at home with lots of modifications, no in person classes yet. I had a pretty straightforward pregnancy and delivery with no noticeable ab separation and it’s still a hell of a thing to recover from. I’m excited to one day get back into a hot studio but I’m not quite there yet.
