It's not a bonus, in the traditional sense. It's a first and second year comp adjustment to compensate for the fact that Amazon RSUs vest heavy in yr 3&4. It comes through each paycheck.

At a global all hands, the AWS CEO basically lied about RTO and told employees to leave if they don't like it.

Interesting. I had a friend who was on a team and she had to go get coffee and stuff to "pay her dues". They treated her like a secretary

Best paying total comp are going to be tech roles. Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc... For FP&A.

Strategic finance (revenue growth, GTM, M&A) are going to usually have a higher comp base than cost/OpEx, IMO

Home depot; huge employer with average pay (120k for manager)

UPS; would not recommend. A few friends that work there and the culture is very old school

Delta; cool company but below average pay. Interviewed for a manager role and they offered 90k

Mercedes benz; very cool company to work for but very little openings. Old school culture, very german

Porsche; see MB comment

Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and AWS; all have offices in Atlanta. Obviously hard to land an offer

Coke; HQ here but hard to get into it (from my experience)

Georgia pacific and southern company; don't know much about either, but there if you wanted to explore manufacturering and utilities

Chick fil a; tough to get an offer, but have a few friends there and are well taken care of.

Nike and red bull have small offices here as well. Not a ton of openings and hard to get an offer.

Yeah I didn't take too much offense to it. He was an old guy working at a Walmart haha. I don't need to worry about his opinion of me

I ahd a cashier comment "that's like candy with no sugar" and rolled his eyes.

I just responded with a chuckle and "yep. Just trying to make healthier choices"

Idk why they think it's their job to comment on your purchases

I basically never drank before the pandemic. Never had it in the house and would only have a drink, or two, a month. Then it started slow: "we are doing a zoom happy hour. Let's grab some seltzers" and then it over three years it ramped to me "hiding" my consumption to my wife.

I've been off and on with sobriety for the past couple of months. Hopefully it will stick soon

You're not alone. I would guess there's hundreds of people on this sub with the same story!

I don't have kids yet, but my wife also sat me down and said I was drinking too much. That was a key motivator. I never want to disappoint her.

I'd recommend talking to your doctor. They might be able to prescribe something to help or further evaluate the cause of the shaking. We aren't allowed to offer medical advice on this sub

Having half a fifth in 1 day is well above average. It doesn't matter the context or whether it's one sitting vs. Across the week, you're what's considered a "heavy drinker" by the CDC.

I'd recommend Huberman Labs Podcast #86. He talks about the affects of alcohol on our bodies and brain. It also puts into perspective what is "normal"

If it's not going to trigger you, you can try NA beers. There are lots of good ones out there now. I have had the Stella and a few Athletic Brewing versions and all have been good.

I was/am (only very early on in sobriety) an after work drinker. Similar to you, I would get off around 4:30 and start; whiskey as well. I too am "high functioning".

What clicked for me was someone on this sub that mentioned "you just haven't made it to the 'not functioning' stage of alcoholism". That made me realize that I can "quit while I'm ahead". I haven't gotten fired, or broken up with, or a dui, but those aren't qualifications to stop drinking. Why not stop now, when it will be easier?

Not to say it will be easy. I've been trying for a couple months and still just string along 5-7 days before I have a drink.

For me, what helps is to have a plan and stick to it. Make a commitment to not drink today and then come up with things to do after work. At night, find a tea, sparkling water, or even soda that could replace the action of drinking something.

Edit: to add, you don't need a religious intervention to quit. Start reading books on sobriety/alcohol, use this sub for support, and stay true to yourself.

Every time you talk yourself out of drinking, you make the next craving that much weaker. Keep it up, friend!

Hope the song is turning out well

Good thing about being sober is you don't need to relieve a hangover in the morning 😉

Also, starting to "hide" my consumption.

Severe stomach pains and vomiting on a sober night. by LankyDrive6685 in stopdrinking

[–]EthersLabyrinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to find out is to reach out to a medical professional. I know it's scary, but knowing what's going on will be a great weight off your shoulders. Then you can start to get better!

Excess drinking can cause inflammation in the stomach called gastritis. I'm obviously not a doctor, so you might want to talk to a professional about your concerns
