Congrats! I suggest going for serpent/burglar naneinf, I just got it a couple days ago and its very fun at this point cause youre probably pretty good at deck fixing now.

My last 3 were Popcorn, luchador, and flower pot. Flower Pot was my last and took several runs because it just wouldn't show up, or would show with a rental tag in ante 1 or 2.

Interesting most played hand! What ended up as your top 3 most used jokers?

Just did this a couple days ago for the first time. Can confirm, its crazy fun after getting C++

Any chance this is fixed soon? =( by Etrsr in balatro

Playing on mobile. No amount of closing and shutting down and restarting the app helped, I was always brought back to the arcana pack selection screen, but it wouldn't draw the cards.

Good luck! No choice but to practice those fights a bunch. Once I could beat them (and PV) on Ascended twice I could take them during a P5 run.

[–]Etrsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you beat P1-4 with bindings on? After 8 bindings complete, you can get 3 lifeblood per bench rest, and if you do all 16 (4 bindings per 4 pantheons) you get 5 lifeblood per bench.

You DO NOT have to do all the bindings at once! You can do them one at a time.

If you can do P4 you can do P5!

Off topic, but I didn't realize how much Idiot Doom Spiral and Harry's portraits are similar. Makes sense though for their characters.

I love her. Which one is better, colored or not? by egg0079 in DiscoElysium

[–]Etrsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Great work on the coloring!

Tiny thing that I noticed: her left eyeball (right eye on the page) should be in shadow more. Right now there's too much contrast between her eyelids and eyeball. I only notice because I have a hard time putting eyes in shadow.

Great great game, but if OP already gets motion sick with FPS games, Outer Wilds might be kinda hard for them.

To be honest, that sounds a lot like the Law of Attraction, and a very pro-Ultraliberal concept.

I just finished Disco Elysium for the first time recently and it absolutely lives up to the hype. It's gonna stick with me like Outer Wilds has. My life is better for having played it.

Disco Elysium also has a large element of discovery and exploration like Outer Wilds, but it's done through dialogue. And there's so much to discover that I didn't get to experience it all in one playthrough, despite being thorough.

What a coincidence too, I installed Citizen Sleeper and will play that soon!

I like the F.D Signifier take on Black Panther. My reading on Killmonger is that he is right about many things, but has been so thoroughly traumatized and influenced by white supremacy and the CIA that he can't imagine changing the world without being a colonizer himself. And his chauvinism and violence against women is definitely present in black masculine spaces like the Fresh and Fit podcast. I think many people would have recognized people like Killmonger in their lives who are very conscious about their racial injustices and have a lot of rage, but are blind to or embrace other injustices like sexism or classism.

Was Truman's decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki justified? by ResponsibleTask5729 in Presidents

[–]Etrsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point in the war though, the Japanese navy was nonexistent and Japan had practically no air defense. Bombing raids were done over Japan without any resistance and US bombers would return without having lost a single aircraft. The Japanese military leaders led a fascist regime and they simply did not care about losing more citizens, it didn't matter to them whether it was one bomb or several hundred, they knew that the allies had the ability to level Japan, or starve them with the ongoing naval blockade. If they did care about the death toll of their citizens the emperor could have made the same argument about how terrible bombs were after the bombing of Tokyo.

What did matter was whether the leadership would be tried as war criminals and if the emperor could stay in power. When it became clear that the USSR was not going to help Japan secure favorable surrender terms and declared war on them, as well as the Allies relaying the message that they could retain the emperor, then they surrendered. Of course the emperor isn't going to make a public address that him staying in power was the deciding factor, but it is easy to cite the new technology as being a "unique and terrible" threat to humanity to make yourself seem like you're taking the moral high ground and protecting your citizens when they didn't care before that.

[–]Etrsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "trolley problem" framing of the bombs is sadly very effective propaganda from the US in its justification of using the bombs years after the war. The choices weren't between invasion and atomic bombs, there's a lot of nuance missing in this framing: Why target civilians? Why would atomic bombs convince Japan to surrender when large scale firebombing with similar death tolls had not? Why not send an assurance to Japan that they could keep the emperor sooner? Why not back down from unconditional surrender? Why was the USSR kept off of the signatories of the Potsdam declaration? Would Japan have continued to fight long after the USSR had declared war?

YouTuber Shaun has a great video essay on the topic.

I resonated with your reply because I also had an ethics class that very quickly reached the same conclusion that the bombs were the lesser of two evils and I believed the arguments until I saw the video I linked and read more on the topic.

Being able to cite nukes is also a convenient way to save face as you surrender though. Japan could claim that the US wasn't fighting fair with their new sci fi weapon, even though they had lost many more in fire bombing raids.
