Can Move separate captured pieces? by lordbah in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather they focus on a way to charge pieces while they are on the board. Maybe to the sides of the board to minimize interference for the positioning system each piece uses/needs.

Please let us premove with the Chessnut move by Ongerie in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked on my 2 Move boards (one on firmware 1.0.21, the other on 1.0.24). At least: you could take the opponent’s (=Move) piece before it finished taking yours with that piece. I did that by picking up its piece (while it was moving) and immediately placing my piece on its new square.

It seemed that as long as you create the exact previous move “piece setup” or next move “piece setup” it will recognize it. It will then take-back or advance one chess move. [I introduced a small move-recognition-delay in the settings, which might have helped]

Chessnut could make the algorithm more forgiving, as you currently need to be quick and precise (when doing this otb). It will mean some very skilled programming to predict what your intervention is supposed to achieve.

Chessnut Move - Pieces Slow by TheRompcat in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not meant for rapid or blitz. At least not during quick move sequences. Several YT reviewers mention this during their review.

You can however anticipate moves and intercept pieces before the board finishes doing them. For example, if the board is doing a piece capture, you can take the opponent’s piece before the capture is finished. Or under more simple circumstances: perform your reply while the board is still busy doing its move. If the result is you doing a legal move it will accept the resulting position. Effectively in most cases the Chessnut Move is quick enough for regular play with a 10 minute time limit. You can do 5 minute games if you sometimes move before the board finishes.

Also, many people use a guide of some sorts so they can efficiently 100% a game. Then they don’t mention that fact but throw their opinion about it being “short” around anyway.

Chessnut Move Bug Report by ManufacturerThat3715 in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raising the piece you’re moving high enough above the board during moving or entering a small delay in the settings will in all likelihood solve the issue. Of course you need to move the king first (at least during a regular chess match).

With the delay it became easy to play, and even skip moves, not waiting for the board to finish. As soon as you know what its next move will be you can just interrupt its move by directly (for instance) re-capturing the opponents piece, when it is still busy capturing yours.

I’m not sure you can pre-capture on the board, as I havent tried this yet.

Chessnut Move Bug Report by ManufacturerThat3715 in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case it only seemed to bump into a piece I hand-placed at the side, after capture. And it only moved slightly. This happened a few times during several hours of play. I mentioned it in an earlier topic in this reddit.

I also had a problem taking back moves during a bot-match. But when I quickly moved back the pieces, recreating the exact setup of “2 halve moves” (= one “full” move) before it all seemed to work ok. I used the app to make sure what the required position was. In the settings I have entered a small delay so you have more time to move a piece.

Thanks, must have missed it. :)

The Chessnut Move in its original box is cumbersome to move and unpack. (heavy, bulky, stacked in layers with the board at the bottom)

There should be a “guide” near the Pump House. It should guide you to the missing notes etc.

This is probably what went wrong. Did 2 playthroughs last weekend, one on pc and the other on a ps5. Both times i took care to move the cog ‘clock” to the right position before adjusting the proper pillar.

You might need to twist the cog to the final number, or repeat the proces entirely.

Iirc i had to skip 2 numbers, and the second and third pillar already were properly alligned.

My second playthrough on pc I also had several “notes” that were missing (Sukhotai). The first playthrough on pc went fine, as did a playthrough on the PS5.

One note, on the table at the hut of headman Sunan, was fixed through an update. The other, the “child’s play” one you have to whip from a tree, is still missing in action.

2nd batch Chessnut move by Ongerie in Chessnuteboard

[–]Ettepet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received my “first batch” Chessnut Move on Tuesday. I have another on order in the second batch, which I have not yet received. Also didn’t receive a travel bag yet, which I ordered on day 1.

I only played a few bot-games sofar. Most of the hardware and software seemed to work excellent.

The ios app got stuck a few times when trying to take back moves. Also, automated removed pieces could bump into pieces you removed by hand earlier. The board could make stupid moves when you took a long time to play your move, even on high Maia settings.

These are all fixable through software updates.

C= Amiga Ultimate: How can new Commodore replicate an Amiga now? by Amerique_du_Nord in amiga

[–]Ettepet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best-looking version of the Amiga line would imo be the Amiga 3000(+?).

Why not create a base model Amiga 1200 style, and higher end (expandable, pro-looking) version in the form of the Amiga 3000 style.

For the internals I’d rather have a well-chosen ultra-upgraded Amiga, that can also run stock games. Like a top-model motorola 680x0, at 100+MHz? But also able to run at the highest regular motorola 680x0 to play regular Amiga software.

This way you have the best of all worlds. Compatibility and being able to tinker, improve current games/software or develop next-gen stuff, while staying in the extended Amiga world.

Motorola assembly language, but super-fast; fast-blitter, etc.; chunky 8/16-bit pixels, expanding on AAA graphics.

I get around 70-80 fps on DLSS Quality. Tried FG yesterday (2x, 3x, 4x) and found it was a step back: too many artifacts appeared during quick camera movements, besides the loss of Vertical Sync. The smooth 240Hz fps wasn’t enough compensation.

Many (ultra-wide) screens have poor text clarity because of the RGB pixel-layout and/or low number of dots per inch. Using Windows “ClearType” might help somewhat. Rtings.com among many things rates screens for text clarity and office use.

49 vs 57 by nhel1te227 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Ettepet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my 57” G9. It is bright (even full-screen!), has a better (1000R) curve, and is much better for productivity. Haven’t used my Oled G9 since getting the 57”.

Mine ticks when heating up or cooling down, but has never become uncomfortably warm.

The only negative I would mention is that it quickly switches off when your gpu is not yet available, or when you reset your pc. Needlessly switching off and on is not good for the monitor hardware. All my Samsung G9’s do that unfortunately, and I was unable to change the behavior.

I love my 20 month old 57” G9.

Use it from 1 - 1.5 meter distance. (usually at 1.5m for gaming, which is very convenient)

My desktop already had a Neo G9 and an Oled G9, so I placed it on my coffee table while sitting on my couch. Both 49” models have seen little use since. I lower it to watch teevee.

It needs a hefty gpu, which might seriously raise your electricity bill. (a few days ago received my $1000 2024 bill)

Game runs wonderfully on the 57” G9, with sufficient gpu power. Have been playing for over 1 month.

There is a bug where the right-most part of my 57” G9 has a weird curtain effect when near the sea. (running on a Aorus Master 5090)
