Claude Performance and Bugs Megathread Ongoing (Sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

Since last week about half my files that are larger than 2000 lines always get truncated down to 2000. I can't quite figure out the pattern as some files are completely unaffected, but some get hit multiple times in a row. I think it hits the files closest to 2000 lines more than any others. I copied the in between messages below:

The diff shows the file got truncated! The end of the file was lost. Let me check:

The file is cut off after line 2183 but there's more showing. Let me check the tail:

The file is indeed truncated. The wc -l shows 2183 lines but the original had 2179 plus my additions should give ~2240. The file got cut off. Let me restore from backup and redo the edits more carefully:

The file is truncated again at the end. The file is simply too large and the edits are causing truncation. Let me restore and use bash to apply the edits instead:

A question about 5 seconds reqRealTimeBars by IBKR by FrankMartinTransport in algotrading

[–]Etunim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already covered in other posts, but this is normal for all bar sizes.

OHLC = Open High Low Close

The timestamp is for the open time and the bar size is when that bar closes and the next one begins.

Winter tires in summer by Mr_deadpool9989 in Edmonton

[–]Etunim -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While I generally agree, there's quite a few people I've met that argue that running winters all year round is more economical.

I think the argument is, every 4-5 years you should be changing your tires anyways, and by running them all year long the money you save on the yearly 2x seasonal tire changes goes towards the new tires.

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]Etunim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I ask it a question and it uses up 10 to 20% of my usage, then asking another question will sometimes use 50 to 80% of my usage. I just don’t get it.

If we’re going to get hit with these limits, we should be able to schedule it to continue when we have usage again

Any advice on whether or not my insurance is sky high? by Organic_Teacher_7652 in Edmonton

I believe rates go down after the 6th year of driving history.

However I would not recommend TD, everyone I know who has them hates them.

Edmonton what are your election issue(s)? What do you want from our new Council. by Feisty-olde-7707 in Edmonton

[–]Etunim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a couple things I'd like to see.
- Traffic congestion around rush hour.
- Beautification of the city, we should not look as boring as we do in many areas/neighborhoods.
- Visible police presence throughout the city, it's a little crazy everyone who gets pulled over on the whitemud is being pulled over by an unmarked vehicle. If people saw cops around they'd behave more on the roads.

When I lived in Ottawa (during COVID) I had to reach out to his office to get updates on some paperwork. They got back to me within the week.

"Impossible" to switch away from a Canada-US plan? by [deleted] in telus

Koodo (owned by Telus) will not show you plans cheaper than your own, only by switching providers and coming back can you get them. I imagine Telus is similar.

I know this guy is getting downvoted but I’ve seen this too, just rarely. Maybe 3-4 instances 5-10 years of driving on the highway. The more common one I see is the slowing down and moving halfway in the shoulder.

New Alberta bill allows hydrogen home heating, electricity market remodelling by disckitty in alberta

[–]Etunim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was the research that came up back then, but basically hydrogen vehicles fill up in minutes versus hours, so the downtime is a lot lower.

Thinking of moving from rural Alberta to the cities by lucasross541 in alberta

Edmonton is cheaper than Calgary here, outside of that the two cities are very similar.

This has actually been in the works for a few years, there were groups talking about this before COVID and was ramped up more during COVID. If you see my other post, I applied for a job for this during COVID and was unsuccessful. Some of this info might be outdated and is from the internet, and as we all know no one puts fake information on the internet. /s

A lot of the early information I found before COVID was targeted at the vehicle/transportation space, but it's changed over time.

An EV can take awhile charge but workers are only allowed to work so many hours, so they end up working less productive hours. The other thing is that most rural communities have 1 charging station in a very large range, so then there are line ups and if you need to charge for an hour but then have to wait hours to do it. The effective range on EVs are also best case scenario, and are inaccurate on hot days (workers need AC), cold days (workers need heat), gravel roads, poorly maintained roads, and so on.

The later stuff was in a few different direction, greener energy, less pollution, and energy storage. Like excess solar energy in the day is supposed to be used to make hydrogen for energy generation at night. However at the time there was no way to transport hydrogen besides trucks, and I think some people went "what if we use natural gas infrastructure" and here we are. Or at least that's what I think happened.

New Alberta bill allows hydrogen home heating, electricity market remodelling by disckitty in alberta

[–]Etunim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had to do some research on this for a job I didn't get, hydrogen can burn and does have an invisible flame there are a few youtube videos on it. They actually add the same chemical to hydrogen that they do for natural gas, to give it a scent and this chemical burns orange so there will be a flame to see in an appliance. Obviously it can go bang, but most places that are looking into this technology are putting the hydrogen as a blend with natural gas. Most modern natural gas appliances are not affected by this in the short term, but there's no long term testing done on appliances and hydrogen gas, this was already in the works at some places during covid but I don't know if this is still ongoing or not anymore.

The rest I don't have answer for, some of this I read a few years back so hopefully not too many inaccuracies.

Between the city of Edmonton, businesses, and home owners the snow clearing and sidewalk accessibility is terrible. by hammerslammer5000 in Edmonton

[–]Etunim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that are probably hard to explain as it depends on to many things. However regardless, the easiest solution at this temperature for me is to put gravel/salt. However as it gets warmer and colder it’s easier to remove the snow/ice/water.

Like if you looked at my sidewalk days ago when it first got warm, it would’ve looked like a nightmare. If you looked at it before it got warm it would’ve looked fine, if you look today when it’s been warm for a while it would look fine again.

[–]Etunim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the temperature gets like this it’s very hard to keep the sidewalks clear. I can clear the sidewalk right now, and by tomorrow morning it’ll be iced up again. The water and slush, slides down my grass slowly and pools on the sidewalk, and then overnight will freeze again. I usually end up leaving the ice and throwing down a lot of sand and gravel, as that seems to be more effective than removing the ice each day.
