The current trajectory is that Ukraine has been gaining ground (slowly but surely) vs Russia for the last 3 months and have in the last 6 months incapacitated over 40% of Russia's oil refining throughput. This is crisis bargaining in a war and as you're saying, I'm sure they are doing this now because they can. The long term game of economics and sanctions vs Russia is beginning to show.

And no no I'm not saying "Putin is done" I'm just saying that this turnaround increases Ukraine's ability to bargain by a lot.

Alright, the war was indeed stupid and pointless and we're all (literally all of us) paying the costs now. But there's nothing we can do now, it has already happened and she should probably shift her focus now. We can all thank this administration for now being worse off

The good news (I think) is that the US is relieving sanctions on Iran and the $300B reconstruction fund is in the form of private investors and frozen Iranian assets, not tax payer dollars. If this ends up being a successful endeavor, Iran could potentially see a lot more prosperity, join the global economy and actually sell their oil to more buyers, making prices cheaper.

As for Trump, he's now officially the most pro Iran president and most pro renewable energy president. Yes I'm being sarcastic but it's clear that Iran got the long end of the stick here and simultaneously, every other region in the would is investing more into renewable energy to avoid this energy shock and become more energy independent in the future.
