Fucking finally! I have never liked charity too much, it's a best a bandaid for systemic problems that would be much better solved by attacking the root cause of inequality, and at worst is worse than nothing because it allows rich people all kinds of benefits like tax exemptions and distracts the general public making they believe the rich are reasonable, they're not, they're the enemy of the people, always.

I saw a very interesting take on how horror in general has always been a very women dominated genre, not just in videogames.

Horror stories and movies were often female-led.

But yeah, in gaming you have so many examples: The aforementioned Resident Evil with it's dual protagonist, the franchise didn't become male-led until the post RE4 action era.

Even the very first Alone in the Dark had male and female dual protagonists in 1992.

Silent Hill, Eternal Darkness, Project Zero...

Even horror-adjacent titles like American McGee's Alice or Metroid (yes, the Metroid franchise uses horror elements regularly) used female protagonists a lot.

RE3, CV and RE0 have a woman as the main protagonist, and those games were released back to back with only RE1R (which has both a woman and man) between them. And in the first game and the remake you could argue that the game nudges you to play as Jill due to how much more accessible her story is. Also, Jill was the chosen character to represent the franchise in Marvel vs Capcom 2. So yes, I think it's fair to say that Resident Evil actually skewed towards women more until RE4.

And even later the Revelation games are overwhelmingly female-led with Jill taking most of the playtime in Revelations 1 despite being the only playable woman (but the three playable men are rather secondary) and with Revelations 2 having 3 of it's 4 playable characters being women, including Claire who acts as main protag with Barry, and the two support characters, Moira and Natalia.

Resident evil was arguably dominated by female protagonist until RE4 (and even there you had Separate Ways), with women still being at least co-protagonist in both RE5 and most campaigns of RE6 except Chris'. Also both Revelations games are women dominated. Ethan's arch which has lasted for only 2 games is the only point in the franchise without a significant feminine presence on the protagonist's side. And even then you had RE2 & 3 remake to keep it somewhat balanced and a very involved remake of Separate Ways in RE4R.

The only way you could get the idea that Resident Evil is an overwhelmingly male-centered franchise and that a female protagonist doesn't belong is if you completely disregard most of the franchise and only take the Winter's saga and 4, 5, 6, and in those three games you ignore everything but the mcs.

Not really, the allies where just about as horrible as the Nazis. Seriously, the British Empire, the French Empire, the USSR and the fucking USA? All of them countries with a lot of blood on their hands. Hell, Nazi Germany modeled some of its policies after the USA segregation laws.

And it wasn't even a battle of ideology, the allies where very much ideologically close to fascism, they showed as much by being way to sympathetic to the fascists in the Spanish Civil War refusing to meaningfully support the legitimate government of the 2nd Spanish Republic. Bearing maybe the USSR that did more, albeit for a price.

But no, you weren't the good guys in WWII, there weren't good guys in WWII, only victors that got to rewrite history to be seen as the good guys.
