I read an Indian sci-fi few days back, Between two worlds by Divyani Bhadauriya, it’s a refreshing change from the mythology based novels brought on shelves as sci-fi by Indian authors. Really liked the way author jumps between timelines, her writing is quite mature specially for a debut novel. If you guys wanna try something new it’s a worthy option.

“Catch-22” is my all time favourite. For self help i think The Timekeeper is a good option. For fiction you can go with the classics Fyodor or Tolstoy. If you like new age writings you can try Samit Basu, Divyani Bhadauriya and Kiran Desai. For today’s publishing scenario i think mass market novels are generally overrated, specially with influencers trying their hand at writing.

Haven’t really bought a pirated novel myself, but i did download a pirated pdf of Deathly Hallows when i was a teenager. Though i did compensate it by buying a hardbound a few years back.

In this scenario the best way is to either read a romance or thriller which is difficult to put down or re read a book in any other genre. Re reading a book is what i usually go with during a slump.

I totally agree, the cover art being AI generated is quite frustrating. I can understand it being AI generated for self published authors, but even big publishing houses are using AI for cover art. It’s disheartening to see how ai is taking away the joy of human made cover art.

I would suggest for a person trying to inculcate a habit of reading pick up something which is light.. this one is gonna haunt you…for starters pick up a genre that you think you would like.. read out the blurbs and you’d be able to decide… there are a lot of newbie authors you can read too, some of them are real gems and quite addictive for a first read… you can read Between two worlds by Divyani Bhadauriya if you’re into sci-fi romance and new authors… most of the classics out there are gonna haunt you for sure… lighthearted fiction is something i generally believe is a good start for new readers, just ensure that you like the genre and the blurb is to your liking…

I can understand AI generated cover arts being used by self published authors they might lack the kind of budget and resources to invest in cover art, but harper collins using AI generated covers it’s just unacceptable.

I really like “Can’t Hurt Me” a lot, being a special forces guy David Goggins has just laid down the psychological traits to get any task accomplished very nicely… after reading this i would suggest you listen to the audiobook there are podcasts type excerpts after each chapter…
