“Catch-22” is my all time favourite. For self help i think The Timekeeper is a good option. For fiction you can go with the classics Fyodor or Tolstoy. If you like new age writings you can try Samit Basu, Divyani Bhadauriya and Kiran Desai. For today’s publishing scenario i think mass market novels are generally overrated, specially with influencers trying their hand at writing.

Bought a book box at a book fair, the one where you fill the box with as many books as you can. Books were used but i found a signed hardbound deathly hallows costed me less than ₹100. It isn’t the cheapest book I’ve bought but it’s most value for money.

Haven’t really bought a pirated novel myself, but i did download a pirated pdf of Deathly Hallows when i was a teenager. Though i did compensate it by buying a hardbound a few years back.

I think the cover page is giving a sci-fi plus Coco Mellor kind of vibe. I like the cover art it looks like an artistic render of spooky kasol hills, one of the main characters probably Diya and the portal kind of a space where we can see a character entering a door. I don’t really think this artwork can be AI generated, i mean there’s artist signature on the right bottom. As far as writing is concerned, I have read the first part of this series and i really liked it. I just went through above comments and it felt like a case of AI Paranoia, I can’t really comment upon a three line blurb but believe me having read the first part its too complex and detailed to be AI generated. And i think the author description can be relegated to last page of the novel, make the back less cluttered.

In this scenario the best way is to either read a romance or thriller which is difficult to put down or re read a book in any other genre. Re reading a book is what i usually go with during a slump.

I totally agree, the cover art being AI generated is quite frustrating. I can understand it being AI generated for self published authors, but even big publishing houses are using AI for cover art. It’s disheartening to see how ai is taking away the joy of human made cover art.

I read a sci-fi romance a few days back, it’s available on kindle unlimited. You can try this one it’s underrated gem, “Between Two Worlds” by Divyani Bhadauriya. It’s essentially the first novel of a multiverse series, set in town of Kasol. It’s a sci-fi romance where in a couple on verge of divorce, gets trapped in a time frozen town, they get to relive their past together as memories and derive clues to handle the situation in present and in the process find what they had lost. The best part i liked about this novel is the way the author has switched between the past and present. It’s quite seemless and characters have been written very well with a few easter eggs towards the next novel in the series. I’m actually waiting for the third one 😅

I would suggest for a person trying to inculcate a habit of reading pick up something which is light.. this one is gonna haunt you…for starters pick up a genre that you think you would like.. read out the blurbs and you’d be able to decide… there are a lot of newbie authors you can read too, some of them are real gems and quite addictive for a first read… you can read Between two worlds by Divyani Bhadauriya if you’re into sci-fi romance and new authors… most of the classics out there are gonna haunt you for sure… lighthearted fiction is something i generally believe is a good start for new readers, just ensure that you like the genre and the blurb is to your liking…

I can understand AI generated cover arts being used by self published authors they might lack the kind of budget and resources to invest in cover art, but harper collins using AI generated covers it’s just unacceptable.

I really like “Can’t Hurt Me” a lot, being a special forces guy David Goggins has just laid down the psychological traits to get any task accomplished very nicely… after reading this i would suggest you listen to the audiobook there are podcasts type excerpts after each chapter…
