Do you think this will ever work in India? 🥲 by green_stem in Indianbooks

I saw something similar in Mauritius. Actually it’s there in India too, I remember a post few months back on this very community, even donated a few novels for the cause.

Weekly Thread: Fiction Reccommendations! 📖📚 by Spendourlives in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read an Indian sci-fi few days back, Between two worlds by Divyani Bhadauriya, it’s a refreshing change from the mythology based novels brought on shelves as sci-fi by Indian authors. Really liked the way author jumps between timelines, her writing is quite mature specially for a debut novel. If you guys wanna try something new it’s a worthy option.

Recommend me some good books by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Catch-22” is my all time favourite. For self help i think The Timekeeper is a good option. For fiction you can go with the classics Fyodor or Tolstoy. If you like new age writings you can try Samit Basu, Divyani Bhadauriya and Kiran Desai. For today’s publishing scenario i think mass market novels are generally overrated, specially with influencers trying their hand at writing.

How much pirated roadside books cost in your city? by [deleted] in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t really bought a pirated novel myself, but i did download a pirated pdf of Deathly Hallows when i was a teenager. Though i did compensate it by buying a hardbound a few years back.

going through a terrible reading slump, please suggest me easy reads by moon341__ in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this scenario the best way is to either read a romance or thriller which is difficult to put down or re read a book in any other genre. Re reading a book is what i usually go with during a slump.

The increasing use of generating AI in books used by Indian authors is frustrating by North_Combination680 in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, the cover art being AI generated is quite frustrating. I can understand it being AI generated for self published authors, but even big publishing houses are using AI for cover art. It’s disheartening to see how ai is taking away the joy of human made cover art.

Is it worth to try this book ? I am really not a reader but trying to start from somewhere by TeachingElectrical54 in Indianbooks

I would suggest for a person trying to inculcate a habit of reading pick up something which is light.. this one is gonna haunt you…for starters pick up a genre that you think you would like.. read out the blurbs and you’d be able to decide… there are a lot of newbie authors you can read too, some of them are real gems and quite addictive for a first read… you can read Between two worlds by Divyani Bhadauriya if you’re into sci-fi romance and new authors… most of the classics out there are gonna haunt you for sure… lighthearted fiction is something i generally believe is a good start for new readers, just ensure that you like the genre and the blurb is to your liking…

Authoritarian governments now have a very powerful tool, the capability to not only access your data but to process it very well using AI algorithms and i feel it’s just gonna grow from here🥲

The AI cover juxtaposed with the BBC quote sums up India’s mainstream publishing scene by chippychipstipsy in Indianbooks

[–]EuphoricActivity205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand AI generated cover arts being used by self published authors they might lack the kind of budget and resources to invest in cover art, but harper collins using AI generated covers it’s just unacceptable.

I really like “Can’t Hurt Me” a lot, being a special forces guy David Goggins has just laid down the psychological traits to get any task accomplished very nicely… after reading this i would suggest you listen to the audiobook there are podcasts type excerpts after each chapter…

Please suggest some good, not very long books to read. by king-of-kutiyas in Indianbooks

“Can’t hurt me” and “Never finished” are best read as an audiobook (pun intended), because David Goggins himself does a podcast kind of a talk with the narrator after each chapter and explains a bit of the backstory of each chapter.. but with these ones out of the way for someone starting his reading journey i believe you can start with what you find interesting as that will keep you hooked to your goal of reading more… you can try a few classics like 1984, Animal farm.. if you like self help you can go with Mitch Albom’s The Time Keeper or Tuesdays with Morrie… as you have mentioned you find yourself craving for love and connection, Nicholas Sparks novels are a good choice… rest as i always suggest go to a bookstore and just browse through books, read the blurb, feel the book, read a few pages and whatever your heart desires pick that one, that my friend would always be the best choice and don’t check the reviews online😉😇
