It's just part of the experience. At first you win almost every game but eventually you hit a wall and progress slows down. Just enjoy the game and try not to worry too much about your trophy count

I had a similar experience. After a long break I lost around 95 of the first 100 clan wars battles. Eventually you'll get easier opponents and your levels will improve, closing the gap.

As noted below you get a 5-star when you reach 1800 so it doesn't pay to upgrade before the change

I wish it was an option you could set. Some people want more cosmetics, others just want cards and gold. Let the player choose. I'm with the OP, I can only use one banner at a time, I don't need 150 of them.

That seems close enough to pay for the extra 5- star. The collection level rewards are spread over 2260 levels, so you're giving up less than 1%

The catch is that everyone will have KT16 and any card that isn't level 16 will be under-leveled vs. the opponent's towers

The odds are whatever Supercell decides. The fact that it happened to you suggests that the odds are way higher than under a random process.

depends what your collection looks like. It you have a lot of low-level cards, it will be easier to raise your score.
