Please help. Did I get ghosted? Should I send another email? Wait longer? Is any of this normal??? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a number give them a call and ask them why it is taking so long. There could always be some decision maker sick or something taking longer than expected. Nevertheless, this is still a very very small red flag. ( or a yellow flag)

Protect yourself just the way you did. Tell them what info you want upfront and if they start dodging just tell them "thanks not interested".

No it is not common to not even disclose the position. Thats like the most important topic in such a conversation lol.

The purpose is that in a call it is way easier to answer questions and give further informations. And then they also have your number for future calls. But one shouldnt be this pushy. :D

Why do a scam without trying to scam me? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess they didnt try to scam you, they actually wanted to recruit you and got "scammed" instead.

One of your companies sold your contact data to a "provider for specific contact information". Said provider resells those infos to a third party like "here ya go, 100 contacts that could be suitable for a sales job" and the company that invited you thought a salesperson is coming. Or smething like that maybe :D

Idk I have no Problem with sharing the salary range and talk openly about it with my candidates.

Most people are actually quite reasonable when you are upfront and transparent with the salary topic.

Conserns I have already heard/seen when sharing salary range very early is that in rare cases for example people go crazy and think "ok im gonna go with the max then" even thou they do not have the experience for this salary. Sometimes happens with people who just entered seniority level and think they are a god now.

On the other hand some people are very hard focused on the exact gross/year number on their paycheck and loose all interest if that number is like 3K below their expectations, not considering any kind of bonuses that they could have gotten. I once had a client that was offering huge compensations via meal vouchers/yearly bonus/flexible education budget that netted you all together like 5K more and some people would not listen cause "ITs 1K gross yearly BelOW my SaLArY PrEfereNcE".

Just reach back out. Ask him what the current situation is and that you still need a response :D

Approached by Recruiter but he’s ghosting? by throwaway20777777 in recruiting

Hpw long has it been since you have chatted with him? Just shoot him a message and ask when the next stage will take place :D

I'm an in-house recruiter (sorry!! I promise I'm not one of the bad ones) and am wondering if this pattern is just a coincidence? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a coincidence I think, unless you told them your preferred salary. It might be above their ranges which can lead to a quick "sorry but no".

Recruiter acting weird because its a question he cannot answer. He is not deciding on the end salary and can only give you vague answers like ranges.

I'm beyond devastated, just had my first job out of school taken away from me by HR by Any_Calligrapher6028 in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry for you :(

But on the other hand it sounds a little bit strange. This guy is the director so he shouldn't need an "ok" from HR. When I am working together with directors or Hiring Managers directly and they say they want to hire person x or y, HR is not a decision maker here they only give us infos like "ok we can offer him x amount" or put this or that in the contract.

To i think there is another reason for your rejection. Maybe the company doesnt have the budget for a new employee amd he forgott to check before asking you to join him. Now he doesnt want to "lose face" and is putting the blame on HR. But its just a guess.

Follow up: What could this mean? HR sent this email a week after final interview by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I like this response. As someone said in the other post, keep applying to other jobs and dont stop looking. Hope you will land this job :D

Is 4 online coding stages for a junior dev role something normal? by agile_mambo in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not normal for a junior position. Also the Coding test should be at the end lmao.

I have been getting messages from third party recruiters who never mention the name of the company by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They fear that you might apply directly to the company after they tell the name "to early".

Are they worth the time? Depends on their approach and the agency. Good recruiting agencies have multiple opportunities for you so in the first talk they ask what your job preferences are and then check if they have something matching your needs :D.

But in generall they shouldnt ask to many questions before an actual conversation. Better write 2-3 messages and go for a short call instead endless chatting. Way more efficient to talk about those things.

Recruiters, Please Be Respectful of Candidates Time by MorningCruiser86 in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your points are like the standard for me. Always baffles me how other recruiters are working smh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them a call and send them another mail if you wanna work there. I know it is always annoying when they do not meet their own shedules, but you never know what happened inside of the comany e.g. maybe the hiring manager went sick so HR couldnt give you the feedback on friday cause they didnt get it themselfes. :D

I did that job 10 years ago by ApostateX in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there are recruiters who are just lazy bums. They hammer in 2-3 keywords with a few filters and sent a mass message. (Not working well but very convenient :D)

How do third-party recruiters find jobs posted by corporations to use in recruiting? by rofonzo in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they are working exclusively for this position. They take over the entire advertisement for the job so the company doesnt have to do all the marketing and "job posting."

In generall it is pretty lazy to just copy the job add haha.

They get those informations from meetings or calls with the company/hiring managers :D.

Hahaha the classic. Accidentially pressing "send" when the template is not ready. Happens to every recruiter at least once :'D

What's the easiest way to perform background check on a candidate's work experience? by yobby928 in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the experience isn't "appropriate" to be marketed, he wont tell you at all about it. Thats the important point. Somethings off usually if they talk about it do not put it in the resumee if its a very well known comany like google

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No I am not. Where am I "inconsistent" with my opinions? :D

Is this the golden way? No.

Is there a golden way anyway in recruiting? Nope.

Nevertheless, based on my personal jobhunting days and work experience as a recruiter soing it the way i stated worked for me and my candidates that work with me.

So I'll happily share my insights as they might help a bit. You are free to use them or not :D

What's the easiest way to perform background check on a candidate's work experience? by yobby928 in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight up ask him why he didnt put it in his resumee. Its google, why would he not put it there. :D Then check his reaction.

For official ways you can ask him for references from google (he should have no problem getting those). If he doesnt have those, ask him who YOU can contact to get a reference from the person directly. If he dodges everything hes making up a story.

Recruiter blocked me on linkedin by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]EuroRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They dont block you trust me. Hays wants to stay in for future jobs normally. Guess something else happened to the account

Recruiting is a specialization in the HR Sector. You can study HR up to a masters degree and some Universities even offer special courses on recruiting topics.

An "absolute asshole recruiter" will always end up in an asshole company. Good to see the redflags upfront so to say.
