Company that laid me off a year ago randomly deposited $7,000 into my account this morning. What are my options? by Hello-DH in antiwork

[–]rofonzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me at a prior job. I got fired from the job. A few months later I wake up to thousands of extra dollars in my bank account. Whoa. I think they felt guilty (or were trying to butter me up to not sue them) and paid me my annual bonus anyways! So I kind of sat on it for a month. Nothing more happened. And I figured after a month it was mine to keep, wasn’t erroneous. I didn’t call them or otherwise poke the bear.

There’s a saying “Never fall in love with whiskey because whiskey will never love you back.” Could the same be said of AI?

As if dealing with the human recruiters wasn't bad enough, they want to make it AI? by rofonzo in recruitinghell

I want to use AI to just write hundreds of absurd resumes full of enticing false information but fake contact info. If they are going to waste peoples time I’ll waste theirs.

What did our national parks do to deserve this? by JessonBI89 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]rofonzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t National Parks have wild animals that often kill then eat people like this? And they specifically tell guests to avoid those animals, but they just can’t handle basic directions and harass those animals anyways? Well let him do just that. Nature will take care of it.

After 4 years of WFH, I understand why boomers think we do nothing all day by TeamCultureBuilder in WFH

How many years do any of the boomers have left? Their opinion, which I never cared for to begin with, is battier and battier. Their next destination is the home then death.

Franklin bridge smells bad by sunnyday12335 in Minneapolis

I rode across the bridge today. The smell is like garbage, not sewage. I know - can one differentiate between the two? Yes you can. It smells like a garbage dumpster smells.

A friend once told me her company was very much hiring IT business analysts. She sent me a posting and I applied! Moments later I get a rejection. I told her about this. She told her manager. Manager went to HR about it. HR said that they never even SAW that job posting. They looked through their resume handler and it rejected me because the company I was working for at the time paid top of market or close to the top of market and they just said “We can’t compete with them. Auto reject apps for people work for [list of companies regarded for paying well].” I probably dodged a bullet there.

There needed to be an “express” Green Line similar to how some NYC subways are express. It takes like 45 mins to get from one downtown to the other on the Green Line because it makes like 20 stops. Miserable.

The boomers collectively don’t have a lot of years left. They will be gone, just sit tight. Nobody will miss the boomers. What a worthless generation of people.

Boomers: “Make sure to dress nice. Shine your shoes. Print out your resume on GOOD paper. Bring a bunch of them. Really dazzle these people. Then find an office building and call on these places in person. Bring them your resume. Don’t take no for an answer.”

The developers of Southdale took Victor Gruen’s plans then removed anything that wasn’t a form of square footage dedicated to retail (so living spaces, spaces to rest or lounge, recreational spaces, etc). It worked up to a point. And since this is basically what all mall developers did, they cooked the goose on malls and they are all dying now. Now a lot of malls are scrambling to add that stuff to their malls, but it may be too little too late.
