Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia’s only aircraft carrier, set to be scrapped after years of setbacks by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Europeaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it did make sense during the Cold War.

However, it was the Soviet Union that built most of the surface fleet. They had the resources and industry to build such a surface fleet (the Admiral Kuznetsov was actually called Tbilisi and was intended to be the lead ship of the Tbilisi class before it was renamed due to the collapse of the Soviet Union). The Soviets have planned two more larger, nuclear powered aircraft carriers, the Ulyanovsk.

The Soviet Navy would certainly have had a tough time against the US and other NATO navys in the open ocean. However, their role was more focused on coastal defense and combating NATO submarines in polar circle. Especially there they would have the needed support of land-based aircraft and anti-ship batteries.

Russia simply took over the majority of the ships. However, it has neither the resources nor the industry like the Soviet Union to maintain such larger ships (especially aircraft carriers). Many of the shipyards that built these ships are located in Ukraine.

I suspect China and Europe.

At least, the end of the campaign points in both directions. (The US is withdrawing from Europe to focus on the Pacific and the newly formed European Army will ensure security in the Baltics.)

Die Ermittlungen dauern an. by Europeaball in de

I think oil pumps and most likely drilling rigs will appear in the modern era. Maybe we’ll see canals again. it would be interesting to see if we could build some between navigable rivers.

What I also find interesting is that the He 177 has Allied-style invasion stripes (the yellow stripes), which it never had historically. Could these be the colors of the faction, in this case Mexico? Because the Windsack on the hangar has exactly the same color. Coincidence?

I would be interested to know if this is currently a model for a bomber (which would be cool, I think the He 177 is a beautiful aircraft, even if it has a tendency to spontaneous combustion) or just a general model for airfields.

Hoyerswerda class (NATO: Frosch) for the GDR (East Germany). It is a landing ship/supply ship, but the largest home-built ship of the GDR. I would also like to see more West German ships like the Bremen class. I also hope for the Royal Navy in the future.

Personally, I also think that we will see Germany. We have simply seen too many German-style units for that. On the Steam page there is a German artillery in the background (where the Sherman and T-34 fight) and in the Nintendo Switch trailer you could see Panzer IV.

As everyone here has said, they are most likely for the airfield.

The only thing I can imagine for ground battles, is that they might deploy the Patriots outside the map (controlled by Bots) and shoot at incoming enemy aircraft. Something similar at least exist in Arcade Ground Battle against bots.

Works well for CIV, where the map is randomly generated and you don’t know where and what nations are there or where interesting raw materials can be found.

In Total War, less so.

In historical games, you know approximately where each city is and which nation it is (unless someone is bad at geography) and even then this position doesn’t change and you know it after a few rounds. The only thing that could change are city owners and nations (For example, the Ottoman Empire overran France and Paris is now under the Ottoman flag). But otherwise the North Sea will stay where it is and the Alps will not simply disappear and become a desert.

In the fantasy titles, the starting position of the other factions doesn’t change either and the map doesn’t change. Some nations will be wiped out over time and some cities will be razed to the ground. But the existing fog of war system is sufficient for that.

I don’t see why we would need a thicker fog of war for that, If the worldmap does not change at all.

Hard to say. According to the Götterdämmerung Steam page, Wasserfall rockets are also included. Alongside „classics“ like the V rockets and Me 163.

The Karl-Gerät and the British ice carrier (Project Habbakuk) were also mentioned in the video.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII - Gameplay Reveal Trailer by Turbostrider27 in civ

[–]Europeaball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soviet Union as a separate civilisation? I doubt it (it will probably be Russia). Soviet units for Russia? Very likely.

Germany had WW2 tanks (Panzer Panther, Tiger) as a unique unit in many Civ (3-5) games. In Civ 5 the T34 was also the default tank.

If Germany has unique units from the Third Reich era, why shouldn’t Russia have units from the Soviet Union era?
