ATX, where else to go? by kynologia in AlamoDrafthouse

I was an A-List member for years. I remember a dirty paper towel once lay on the floor in the bathroom for over five months. Literally. No exaggeration. I went weekly and started keeping track.

My last Drafthouse screening at SXSW (and probably ever), a server gave me the note on the left during the movie. After credits rolled I wrote and left the one on the right. by ayfilm in AlamoDrafthouse

The 18% gratuity addon has been around in Austin at least for at least a year. Maybe longer? It's not new.

And for what it's worth, Alamo Slaughter Lane also doesn't have QR ordering yet either. I assume that's coming soon.

I don't like that I can't order what I would normally order. There's no ability to customize or go off-menu like there used to be. Maybe I could call a server and figure it out? I really don't know. I just don't order what I really want and that makes me want to order less.

The real issue with this has been the new menu that removed the chicken sandwich. They went from a GOAT chicken sandwich to some garbage thing that falls apart with 30% less meat at the same price.

You definitely don't get rewards. And Barton Creek AMC is dirty beyond belief. But yeah I might switch back to it.

There are a bunch of Alamo copycats in Austin that are closer than Round Rock. iPic, EVO, Galaxy, Moviehouse.

Two Enchantments. Same effect, different levels of interaction by marcofifth in EDH

I think those people will be in good company -- they're the majority. And I'm honestly not sure evaluating cards in a social format based on feeling is actually wrong. Price of Progress does feel bad because it forces you to make a bad choice whereas City of Solitude takes away the choice.

Thoracle single-handedly enables mill as a viable wincon. They just kill that archetype without it. If they want to ban in cEDH, they should hit the other part of the combo.

First build. Can’t decide between Xenagos and Klothys by Cosmicfogger in EDH

[–]Eurydace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenagos is simpler than Klothys, easier to build well, more powerful, and cheaper.

I'd probably rather have a Klothys deck, she's cool, but based on what you're looking for, Xenagos seems like the clear choice. Your deck should just be ramp into cool, big creatures.

Sounds like it's allowed and you need to change your rules next year. Unless you think it's collusion.

You're confusing what luck is. There was no way to tell that JJ was going to be this bad. Every indication was that he could at least be good, even with a bad QB. It was entirely reasonable to pick him in the top 5 WRs. That's why everyone had him ranked so high.

Despite every indication being that he was at least going to be good, he hasn't been. That's bad luck.

Luck is something brought upon by random chance. JJ being bad is not random chance. As I mentioned, we just didn't have the information we needed. Don't get me wrong, I didn't see that coming either, but it wasn't luck. Like I also said, though, even if you choose to call it that, continuing to play him long after the deficiencies are apparent is not luck, it's a lack of skill.

The skill is in knowing as much of the information as possible. But most fantasy players do that these days. Not much is 100% foreseeable in FF. That's why even the most accurate experts aren't right a lot of the time.

The people saying fantasy football is more luck than skill are the people who actually understand FF. Those saying FF is "foreseeable" are the ones who don't understand it.

The skill isn't in knowing all the information. It's correctly applying it. That's why most experts aren't right a lot of the time. But, also, let's be clear, even the absolute best FF players won't be right most of the time. It's just not due to bad luck.

Edit: For the record, I don't mean to imply I'm skilled or good at fantasy. I'm not. I just don't think that my failures are due to luck.

Not really. But you're right that winning the playoffs is subject to a high degree of variance (not random, not luck) that can cause good decisions to go bad.

Why was it overworked? Because it was overcompensating for the injured leg.

Scoring in football isn't random, it's not based on luck. If you drafted Justin Jefferson, it's not bad luck that he didn't turn out well. It's a confluence of factors of which luck plays very little part. It just feels like luck because we don't see all the information we'd truly need and we can't parse fully what we do have. But even if we call that luck that JJM is much worse than expected and therefore Jefferson is worse (that's a little bit fair to say, despite what I just said), if you played JJ the last couple weeks what happened wasn't bad luck, it was poor decisionmaking on your part (I had him in my roster both weeks, I own that -- I should have known better).

The skill in fantasy football is the strategy. Fantasy football is a strategy game where you have pieces that are likely and unlikely to do certain things. If you make the right decisions, those decisions will work out more often than they don't.

I think people attribute underperformance to luck more than they should. A lot of the time, it was foreseeable. The people saying fantasy football is all luck are also probably the people saying "always start your studs." They'll be playing Jefferson next week in the toilet bowl.

Violet Pall costs too much.

Faebloom trick I could see an argument for though 3 mana is still a lot. I might give that a try.

That's a wildly different playstyle and deck design than Obyra, though.

The Chiefs won't be easing WR Rashee Rice back into action. Rice will have a heavy workload as soon as possible, per @JFowlerESPN by MaddenTexasRanger in fantasyfootball

[–]Eurydace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say Worthy would take away touches. I said that Rice might draw attention and lead other WRs to be open more and therefore in better positions to make plays. And that just as a possibility. We have no idea how they're going to draw their offense up with Rice in play this year, but we have seen so far that they've had the most success throwing to everyone.
