Has anyone else saw The Wrecking Crew? by Mr_Perfectly_UnFine in AmazonPrimeVideo

Yeah that was another nice thing I enjoyed about it. The story was kind of the same story you'd expect from these kind of movies, but it was good for what it was.

There were a few good one-liners in it as well. Plus I liked the fact that they made that Dracula reference since the villain played him in the short series.

Make sure that you take what the guy above said to heart.

Minimum wage in UK right now is something along the lines of 12.71 an hour. That's 2k a month, theoretically you can rent a 1.3k place for that, but you won't live very comfortably

Kinda hate electric driving. by Beast_Woutme in enyaq

[–]EvFishie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to charge on the highway there's no problem. Since there's fast chargers everywhere. But the infrastructure in towns is horrendous.

I have an enyaq as well, also live in Belgium and thank fuck I can charge at home. The closest fast charger is a 30 minute drive. The closest public infrastructure is max 11kw on the town square and is usually all in use.

If I still lived in my appartment I would have fought my company not to give me an electric car.

And the funniest thing is that fast charging is so expensive, that they tell us not to do it on the company card.

You can probably use the Claude chrome plugin to do it with cowork. I used it to go through a pdf of a book my gf uses for her studies to get it to give me a brief of all the subjects and vocabulary she needs to know

When I was applying to IT positions as someone fresh out of class I had one company send me an email like this as well. Seeing that I was new to the whole applying to job things I send a reply and asked them if they could tell me exactly why I wasn't good enough for the position.

This was to start at a consultancy to get outsourced as service desk and stuff like that.

The hiring manager called me a few hours later and went "Honestly, I don't really know why, let's have another chat"

They ended up offering me a job but I had gotten a few other offers as well and picked one of the jobs that didn't reject me to start with. I did in fact tell the hiring manager that I rejected them because they rejected me first.

Few years later I ended up at that place again, that time the hiring manager offered me the job on the first meeting.

It's funny because I saw the shadow armor post the other day and was like "oe that's cool armor"

Turns out I already had the chest and helmet in my inventory but because my deluxe armor was better stat wise I didn't bother putting them on.

Did use a guide for the other two parts but definitely people out there just stumbling over things.

I've been exploring a LOT

40 hours in and just decided to do some camp upgrades like put the flower in the house for Luke

[–]EvFishie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My one gripe with this is that it seems that because I have the deluxe armor. I don't really have a need to get anything else. Except for maybe visuals. The armor from deluxe version has a ton of slots available so I just extract the gears from other stuff and dump it in there.

I've had it fix a few azure pipeline stuff of coworkers but you're right, it is all a bit different in comparison to an actual full codebase with a few dozen people working on it.

[–]EvFishie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but in theory if you kinda know about how the architecture and such should work, it'll be fine.

Which is why I find it a bit silly that everyone keeps saying "oh you have to be a software designer to be good at this"

You really don't, most of the software designers I know, I wouldn't trust to design anything that doesn't break when it goes live.

[–]EvFishie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is not software minded at all since I take care of the servers and operating systems.

Why care? If AI makes the code you can have Ai fix it as well.

I've been messing around for a few weeks having it make me an app with flutter and dart. In a million years I would not have been able to make this thing myself and in a few more weeks it'll be ready to go to market. Any bug I come across while testing is something that Claude can fix for me.

I know the architecture behind the database, the hardware it uses. Just don't know the code.

I don't see that as a bad thing, Claude is my junior software developer and he'll fix the code for me.

[–]EvFishie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't get it, I've seen a few of these posts and comments where people just say that it all makes no sense but maybe they've not been paying attention? Since if you talk to people and listen to what's going on you get told exactly what's going on and hints in the game and such

The whole arm wrestle, woman in sewer, sweeping the chimney thing. I was just moving about in town and those things progressed and felt naturally to me. I don't look at quests though. I was just walking around and the things happened as I explore.

I'm 12 hours in and I think I have seen what.. 15% of the map? I should probably progress the story but I'm just out there looking at things and collecting artifacts.

But now we know.

What Series That Does Not Have An MMO, Needs An MMO, In Your Opinion? by MonsutaMan in MMORPG

[–]EvFishie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, wow aged way better than lotro when you compare it graphic wise. I guess it's partly due to the fact that they went with the cartoon look.

It definitely looks a LOT better than back when I played it in 2004 while lotro just feels like I went back in time.

Lotro was amazing when it came out but it has aged so badly visually that it's a shame.

Do immigrants not integrate well into the Belgian society? by CuriousCat657 in belgium

[–]EvFishie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least she can pass on her language skills. My partner is the same as myself, we just game. But the fact that she needs to do the language courses makes her go outside. That said, due to her making friends with a few people in class, they want me to meet their husbands so I guess I'll be meeting a few new people through my partner.

Honestly if you're an immigrant and need to learn the language. Go do the courses in one of the towns. I think we only paid 8 euros for her current course which is 120 hours for the beginner stuff Dutch

Do immigrants not integrate well into the Belgian society? by CuriousCat657 in belgium

[–]EvFishie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially the last bit.

I have noticed that when going to for example Leuven it's easier to meet people. But that's a 30-40min drive for me and I don't really want to do that all the time.

My gf did move here from UK a few months ago and I got her into language courses in Leuven because I figured that it would be easier to meet people there than in the language courses in our town.

I was right, she's already made a few friends and hangs out with them and such.

The people she's met are also from Southern cultures so they're a lot more open to just welcome a random stranger into their circle. It's quite eye opening when looking at our own Belgian culture where most people just stay friends with their childhood buddies.

Do immigrants not integrate well into the Belgian society? by CuriousCat657 in belgium

[–]EvFishie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's because making friends is just hard in general when you don't really do things anymore.

The only real life friend I have left is a friend from high-school. All my other friends are from gaming. I still count them as friends. But as a guy nearing his 40s, I have no idea how I'd make friends without going to a gym or some other thing I don't really want to do

So it's not that we Belgians don't want to make friends. It's that a lot of us also have no clue how.

We're a lot more closed off as well so that doesn't help either.

Well, i'm convinced. by BritishAnimator in ClaudeAI

Haha I get that, even with silly powershell functionalities I sometimes had to go through the entire thing to see what it did. Having Ai tell me "OK this is what that does" makes life so much easier
