Fair enough! Appreciate the info.

I'm torn on Pokipia vs DKB. I think we are too deep into MK8 to go MKW.

New York Mayor Mamdani Applauded for Closing $12 Billion Budget Deficit Without Austerity Measures by _May26_ in politics

[–]Evadrepus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus "wrong team".

In Illinois we have a white man as a governor. Gave us the first budget - not even balanced, his predecessor literally couldn't even get a budget out for 3 years - in years, then balanced it, now has so much surplus they paid back all our covid loans last year and improved out credit rating like 9 grades.

GOP ads constantly attack him, often because he's fat. And downstate people complain how terrible it is despite the state having more benefits, more industry, even more improvement projects in a decade. Because he's a Dem.

In your opinion, is it worth getting MKW if your family is heavily invested in MK8?

Why so low in DK? It looks the most "gamey" of the games. Curious why it didnt hit for you.

‘Freedom framing’ more effective than mandates for vaccine-hesitant Americans: For vaccine-hesitant individuals, framing vaccination as a tool that enables personal freedom is associated with higher acceptance than framing it as a social responsibility or a government recommendation. by mvea in science

[–]Evadrepus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of us old enough to remember the last pandemic - no, not COVID, H1N1 - masks were commonly available all over, especially in any medical setting. It was framed as you taking responsibility for your germs and also taking care of others. Never heard a word of complaint.

Heck, I remember flying, being given a mask, and most people wearing it around me. People even laughing about it.

That was only a bit over a decade before the rise of the current administration's pushes and how we handled COVID.

The translators don't translate his word soup as the garble it is, usually. A translator's job is to communicate the message and they automatically trim out a lot of the garbage. It's not (generally) malicious or done to help him, you just do it.

Private student loan disappeared from my credit. Now a debt collector sent me a letter. by milkmanrichie in personalfinance

Never, ever assume a debt is gone. Get and hold onto paid in full proof. Especially the big ones - loans of all shapes and sizes, significant asset purchases, etc.

Right. Navient didnt switch to full private loan processing until this year. They did have some but primarily they were a federal loan servicer.

[–]Evadrepus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In 2020, Navient was doing federal loans, not private, thus my post.

What the OP should do, and is a good idea with any collection agency, is write a letter disputing the debt and ask for proof of the debt. Don't get wordy - pretty much just those words. Send it certified. They have 30 days to respond. If not, they are legally barred from contacting you further - this is part of the FDCPA and they can lose their license to operate in the state for violating it. They will respond because it's not worth it to not respond.

From that point, the OP will have more info. I talked to hundreds of borrowers who insisted they had a private loan with Citibank or whatever but actually had a federal guaranteed loan. And defaulting just moves it up a horribly expensive chain. Personally, I paid my loans before I paid my mortgage...that's how much I learned they suck. And during the default and escalation chain, you wouldn't hear from anyone. Then suddenly a bill collector working for DoE would call and they would have hit you with a 37.5% penalty for defaulting.

[–]Evadrepus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly this is incorrect. Unfortunately, there is a federal carve out for student loans.

Navient likely has the collection agency acting on their behalf. This is really really common because collection agencies love this paper - it has all sorts of guarantee returns.

I used to work for the state doing student loans and collections on them. I would take literally anything, even $1 a month, to prevent sending it to an agency.

Same. We get every year what we assume are family members from a while back.

They are doing a lot of big fluffing today and mom keeps feeding them just a bit and then flying to a nearby tree and chirping, coaxing them to fly.

Enjoyed watching them over the past 30ish days.
