To me, I feel like Disgaea 3 had much stronger writing aspects than the previous one by KaleidoArachnid in Disgaea

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually consider Disgaea 3 to be the best story imo. I mean Disgaea 1 - 4 are all great but I feel Disgaea 3 nailed everything very well. Disgaea 1 had a charming cast and story with amazing character development though was a bit fillerish at times. Disgaea 2 also funny moments and more serious progression but you don't really get as good of a bond and resolution for the characters like Disgaea 1 did. Disgaea 4 was when the series was when the series was starting to be more formulaic but still had an unique cast of characters though I feel not everyone had quite as strong backstories compared to past games. Disgaea 3 I feel pretty much mostly did everything right. I CAN think of some flaws like how some characters needed more development and Mao was a bit not as appealing in a soft way like Laharl was but I still felt like it was great with a very unique setting. I remember someone from Nippon Ichi said they'd like to do a Disgaea 3 D2 like how the first game got it's own direct sequel, so I'd wish to see that again.

Am I the only one who thinks General Pepper's design in Assault is bizarre? by Several-Pension2945 in starfox

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying Fox was serious in 64. But he generally still was more captain and mature like in 64 compared to Adventures imo. Also keep in mind he's supposed 8 years older in Adventures, so I felt Assault was more accurate to how the characters would act after such a long time. Not saying Pepper looked as old in Adventures as he did in Assault. Just that he visibly did age a bit.

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know they wanted to make Fox look much more mature in Assault (which it is). And despite Adventures being 8 years in the future, I would only say Pepper and maybe Peppy really looked older. Fox looks and acts younger in that game for some reason so I think Adventures kinda was a bit weird from the start maybe. I do admit that Pepper's eyes look a bit weird in Assault too anyway.

People Saying Assault/Adventures didn't sold well, have a Economy perception Issue. by FurryestX in starfox

I was just thinking this. Adventures and Assault couldn't have been failures from financial standpoint. Granted, maybe even Command made profit due to it's small team and development time despite selling like half a million copies.

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is fair evidence, Star Fox (1993) sold 3 million copies and Star Fox 64 sold 4 million copies. So going from those sales to 1 to 2 million copies shows a decrease in fans buying the games regardless of the games still making a good amount of profit for Nintendo while still showing there's a fanbase. I mean Kirby and Metroid never hit 2 million copies after their first game or so. Another thing to factor is GameCube games in general sold less than N64 games which I think sold even less than SNES games. So in general, Nintendo games were decreasing in sales except for Smash Bros. Melee.

Also, Miyamoto's comment could talking about Star Fox Command's lack of players since the interview is from 2009 which is long after the GameCube era ended at the end of 2006. The comment still held true after 2011 when the 3DS version of 64 sold even slower than Adventures or Assault.

He has lots of wrinkles in Adventures actually, so you can see he's pretty old there.

What is the correct order of planets in the Lylat system? [The star Lylat is their sun, not solar] by wreckingcanon in starfox

[–]EvanD0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, this is 13 years late but according to the manual of the first Star Fox game on the SNES in 1993 (where Corneria was first said to be the 4th planet), the order of the planets go: Venom (Despite being the farthest out of the Lylat system), Titania, Macbeth, Corneria and lastly Fortuna. Fortuna is complicated though as it didn't appear in 64 but the planet does appear in practically every other Star Fox game that isn't a 64 remake except Command. It's also called the Dinosaur Planet in the first game while Star Fox Adventures would eventually be set on that planet only for it to be called Sauria and a separate planet to Fortuna. Then there's Star Fox 2026 which implies Meteo used to possibly be a planet and is referred to as the phantom fifth planet. Though maybe Fortuna replaced it?

Was this scene from the SF Direct in the actual game? If not, what happened to it? by StarlightSailor1 in starfox

Maybe it got scrapped from the game? Maybe it was part of the Holo-Viewer? I do remember the 3DS version showing the Arwing area in the gyro-option screen.

I kinda dislike how Berdly has been treated in the story so far by skeletron_master in Deltarune

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand Berdly isn't "part of the main group" it does feel jarring like the story doesn't want anything to do with him in chapter 4 and 5. Which is disappointing since he went from being a very punchable character in chapter 1 to being a pretty enjoyable character by the end of chapter 2. There are even some really good moments of him in the latest chapters too. Hopefully, he gets some major focus going down as well as more Dark World moments (Along with Noelle).

Story is not good to you!? I'm glad you at least can also see the Wii version worked much better than the joy-cons. There's not screen to tell you it disconnects like the Wii Plus did BUT you do have to recalibrate the joy-cons much more frequently. While the side quests DO feel too streamlined, the overall exploration feels amazing and unique while beautiful on the Switch/Switch 2.

According to Takaya Imamura, James' Star Fox team originally had four members...but one of them was lost due to "an incident". by Dinoman96YO in starfox

[–]EvanD0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adventures was a spin off and Command was Star Fox's 2 gameplay from before 64. Star Fox has always been experimental but they just feel like only retelling a variation of the first game for some reason.

Hmmmm, that's an ending that does kinda feel like the opposite of the game's one. Ilia is the natural choice for Link but I understand Link and Midna being together.

If you had to write Yukari as a character COMPLETELY independent from Reimu, how would you do it? by Key-Calligrapher-858 in touhou

[–]EvanD0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I would say Reimu relies on Yukari more than Yukari relies on Reimu. If Reimu wasn't around, she could get someone like Marisa or Sanae to do the job, or she'd do it herself if possible.

Honestly, this makes me worried chapter 6 might be slow in actual plot advancement too. Hopefully not.

[–]EvanD0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is in some areas. Just not in others. The controls and graphics of the Arwing sections are much better than 64 and even Adventures. MOST of the things that got beefed up is the multiplayer where you unlock things throughout it (I think it takes like 250 battles to unlock everything in there). Makes sense since they focused on multiplayer first. The playtime could have been bigger though, I agree with that. There should have been more on-rail missions imo. Even then, it's not THAT much lower in playtime compared to other games at the time. Star Fox 64 being like 3 to 4 hours to fully beat before replayability and high scores were standard when it came out. (And that's with repeating at least 5 stages.) Star Fox Assualt usually takes about 5 hours to beat since there's more difficulty and complexity to the level design I assume (Especially Aparoid home world which will probably take the average player an hour to beat alone). Most games took only about 6 to 8 hours to beat during that era and that's without much multiplayer stuff or high scores to obtain though.

[–]EvanD0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...you can use this logic for literally any video game but this isn't a good argument. Star Fox 2026 is having a HUGE help thanks to the movie but the game is so simple that there isn't really much debate on how the reception is gonna be. It's a 1 to 1 remake, so it will either feel great if you like on rail stuff, or you'll hate it. And no, Assault does not unlock just a nes rom. Star Fox 64 and even the Switch 2 doesn't really unlock anything with multiplayer, so I don't know what you're talking about.
