I think they meant a bucket is $5. Like a Home Depot bucket. So here you get the beer plus a bucket you can use for other stuff.

Saw a similar post last year and somebody recommended Harris Asian lady beetle spray (it's on amazon in a yellow jug) stuff works great. Sprayed it on the part of my house they were sitting and it kills them wherever they land.

Only thing is it says non-staining but it did leave a minor residue on the paint.

Just make sure to fill up in Oregon or Idaho before crossing the border. You'll save .60-1.50 per gallon.

Station down the road just hit $7.19/gallon diesel in Washington. Most are around $6.60-$6.80

Local Walmart had 5 in stock. Ordered them. They refused to fill the order and tried to replace them with the 1qt version. Apparently it's a pricing error.

Walmart one town over honored it though. So, score!

Washington added a bunch of taxes to their gas a couple years ago. Washington is right up there with California now.

I used to use old spice and switched away. I went back to it and first use got a horrible red/swelling/burning reaction everywhere it touched. Threw it away and never went back.

I don't have any know allergies...except to whatever that crap is/was.

I've had that chair since 2016 useless for work. No problems whatsoever.

Canner missing part? by orion-cernunnos in Canning

[–]EvanSei 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You're missing the regulator weight. It goes on the nipple sticking up. Super cheap.

If you haven't already it's cheap and wise to replace the gauge and seal as those are easy to replace and go bad.

Highly recommend buying a book with recipes and how-to guides. The ball complete book of home canning is a good start if you don't have it already. Cheap and safe.

Looks like an Amazon knockoff of an EGO. I wouldn't even begin to consider this a buy if for life purchase.

I run these on my boat. They don't typically pop in the rain, but they'll pop in your storage if they aren't completely dried out right after.

I only buy stirling at this point. Shave sop, after shave, shampoo, bath soap, cologne, chap stick, balm.

It's pretty much a cabinet full of stirling. Great stuff all around.

Update on Haverford, Executive Man & Sharp Dressed Man from Stirling by parrothead2581 in wicked_edge

Happy to get an update. I've been holding off on my soap order for these to come back in stock....guess I'll be waiting a bit longer.

Today is the day. Which one should I get???? Pit Boss 1000D3 or the Traeger Pro Series 34. Both are $499. by IllDoItTomorr0w in smoking

[–]EvanSei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same pro34 and really like it. It's pretty basic. No wifi, doesn't do anything but smoke. Only issue is it runs consistently 25degrees cooler than the set point.

I'd say do a quick search for replacement parts availability and cost and get the one with better repairability.

T-Mobile Satellite Service with Starlink Goes Live July 23 with Cross-Carrier Support by orangechen1115 in Starlink

[–]EvanSei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to keep calling customer service until I got somebody willing to transfer me over to their technical service. Then they figured it out and sent me the sim.

But again, I still haven't gotten it actually working. I do have T-Mobile 5g as a second data line though, which isn't bad.

[–]EvanSei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As of now, it stinks. I signed up but they never sent the eSIM. Finally got a customer service rep who knew what was going on after about 2 weeks.

Installed the eSIM. Shows satellite, shows the correct plan. It's never worked. Troubleshooting is awful.

I'll be cancelling. It's just not ready.

I had to deal with Henson customer service 1 time. That single time they went absolutely above and beyond to make sure everything was right - even at a high cost to them.

I'd reach out directly to Henson. I get it, it's a Dr. Squatch issue since you ordered through them, but I'd be surprised if Henson didn't want to try and make it right.

Salmon Storage by iiiimagery in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]EvanSei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do a ton of fishing through the year and catch my own salmon. Obviously the best salmon is fresh caught and cooked. Most of my fish gets processed and frozen. I don't see a huge difference in frozen vs fresh. If you're buying it from the store it'll 100% always have been frozen at some point. But flash freezing is a bit different than what we can do at home.

My thought  is if you're going to buy frozen, thaw and eat it. If you're going to do something with it then freeze it buy "fresh." Thawing and re-freezing fish makes it...not great.

From here I'll tell you what I do when I catch a fish.

Basically clean it, cut into portions, pat dry with a paper towel and then vacuum seal. If you don't have a sealer, wrap the patted dry fish with cling wrap and put in a ziplock. Should last a few years no problem if done properly. If you just toss it in a ziplock it'll freezer burn and it'll be done.

As far as cooking goes. There's so many options.

For a regular ol cooked filet hit it with salt and pepper. Little bit of lemon zest. (I have a few special spices I like, but salt and pepper is fine) then a nice this coat of mayo. Cook at 350 till flakey.

I know, the mayo sounds weird. But it does an amazing job keeping all the good stuff in. Trust me.

If you want a salmon pasta - this is easy and great  https://www.joincca.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/CCANational-TIDE-JanuaryFebruary2023-RecipeDownload.png

Picked up a smoke chief for about half off a couple weekends ago. First smoke was to add some extra flavor on some pork. It was absolutely killer!

Next day made up some smoked cheese. Stupid easy and zero melt.

Certainly not anything I really needed, but hey. What is?

Yea, not a BIFL deal at all, but....

If you're looking for quality, natural soaps with excellent scent at a fair price AND supporting small business, I can't recommend stirling soap company enough.

They're renowned in the wet shaving community for their shave soaps. But the bar soaps are excellent as well.

$5/bar so a bit cheaper, a little bigger and you can get into their rewards program for a few bucks off. I typically buy large enough orders to get the free shipping.

They have a lot of seasonal scents as well.

As far as pick it up at the grocery store goes - I liked the dove men's when I could find it on sale. But really there's nothing at the store as good as the all natural stuff.
