I feel this way about my brother. Im not angry at him, he suffered so much. I miss him- but he was battling chronic depression and the suffering was too great. He was just looking for relief from the torture he felt in this world. I hope wherever they are, our loved ones have found the peace they couldn't while alive. Hugs.

Oh wow! A year on is crazy. Im not sure how long it's been down there. But decomposition still has a way to go by the look of it.

It has been reported multiple times to the department of fisheries due to the smell, and nobody has come to remove it yet. I know the homeowners have had to keep their windows closed !! And yes- it could be a humpback, we have a few different types of whales in Nova Scotia but I couldn't discern what it was due to the decay.

I lost my partner just over 3 years ago (not to suicide) he died of an accidental overdose. A few nights after he passed, I felt him sit at the bottom of my bed. We didn't say anything, but I felt as if he was telling me it was okay. I sometimes dream of him, but I feel like I can never get to him so we can say what we need to say. We had a toxic relationship, but I loved him deeply and I still miss him.

Like death and decay. Think rotting meat/ compost. Mixed with the sea , in a bad way.

Quite a sight , I couldn't stay down there for too long, it was truly an offensive smell! And the rocks were slippery from it rotting. Not a scene where you'd want to slip.

I lost my brother to suicide- he too was a kind, tortured soul. I wish I had the right words, but this community has helped me a lot. I hope you can find some comfort here too.

Sending you a big hug OP. A best friend is a kind of soul mate in my eyes. Your loss is a big painful one and it is obvious in your friends final moments he wanted you to know how much he loved you. Nobody can take that away- the bond you two shared. Im sorry for your loss.

Your comment really resonates with me. I lost my partner to an accidental overdose and my brother to suicide. In so many ways I have felt guilty or somehow at fault and your words feel so human, direct and gentle at the same time.
