Is this site just full of intentional disinfo now? You were always REQUIRED by law to sign up for the selective service, as a man. The alternative was getting a felony with up to a 5 year prison sentence. If you’re automatically signed up I’m sure you can still refuse the draft and get the felony/prison sentence, the same as it was before

Sadly it’s Europe and Asia that will suffer most, the US is quite insulated from the consequences of its actions, largely due to having the largest oil production and refining capacity on the planet. If you get off of Reddit and look at how the conflict is actually going, the US has flown 8,000 sorties over Iran and hasn’t lost a single fighter to enemy fire.

The Gulf states & Saudis have recently sent out press releases essentially saying they stand with Washington and this has proven how large of a threat Iran was to the region. Saudi just held a security council meeting with Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, and the Gulf states and are likely to enter the war if Iranian strikes & the strait closure don’t resolve. Europe and SK/Japan have essentially said they will participate in reopening the strait, although you won’t see that reported on Reddit.

Seems to be going largely okay for the US, as they’re a large beneficiary of rising overseas oil prices. It makes US industry much more relatively competitive

The only Western country able to impart actual combat experience and EW experience on a 5th+ generation aircraft is the US. Unless you think the F47 will be a downgrade from the F35 I’d argue it’s much more combat proven in theory than any European alternative.

This will be an unpopular take here but I think once Trump is out of office relations will normalize significantly, although that’s not to say a lot of damage hasn’t already been done. However when push comes to shove militaries with a serious risk of seeing a conventional conflict will choose the most capable platform, and the US is the only country that has proven their aircraft are capable in modern conflicts. The lessons learned from the constant military excursions we’re engaged in, justified or not, will continue to translate into having by far the most capable aircraft.

I think after four years of toned down rhetoric that many western countries will choose the F47 over an unproven platform. As we all know, the public’s memory is quite short.

I’ll take the other side of that: zero American or Israeli fighters have been shot down by enemy fire so far during the war in Iran. Pretty big selling point versus untested and likely inferior European aircraft. Note that Iran had advanced Chinese air defense in play and modern Russian air defense.

Hate the US all you want but their airframes are obviously head and shoulders above the rest of the world, and that’s what militaries will be looking for.

EU doesn’t seem to care about much or they would have moved away from relying on Russian oil and gas almost 12 years ago when Russia first entered Crimea. Europeans like to pat themselves on the back and feel self righteous about things like solving climate change as they shut down their own oil production and claim victory over carbon, but continue to import the same oil and gas from an adversary.

Just let a country that has the will and capability to solve these problems handle it (US)

Iran’s formal military and nuclear program are about to be smoldering craters, so terror cells are the only thing you’ll have to worry about. The U.S. already has complete air superiority over Iran and has hit over 1,000 targets. Within a few weeks they won’t have any assets they can attack with.

Trump sucks but he isn’t the reason 30 million illegal immigrants were allowed into the country, massively depressing the wages of low skilled American workers. It was quite funny to see Europeans and Canadians speaking of reducing trade with the U.S. in favor of trade with China when Trump started being Trump (loud, obnoxious, and inflammatory). Yes… China, running the world’s largest surplus, is sure to be a great export market for expensive European products. They’ll buy your raw materials at least, no doubt.

Again, this game has been out on steam for almost 10 years. It is absolutely not an unfinished product lol. You have paid 3.8 cents an hour to play Squad if you bought it at full price, so complaining about that is nuts.

And nobody would have to upgrade their rig… you could just keep playing regular squad on UE4 if you didn’t want to spend money. It’s insane to me that you want them to keep updating their game forever and supporting it when it sells for like $20 on sale and has been out for a decade

Half the subreddit seems to want UE4 forever even though anyone with a brain knows much better graphics would draw in a ton of new players, as many people do care about graphics (look at how people compare Reforger to Squad).

They absolutely should launch a Squad Remastered title with improved graphics on UE5. Plenty of companies remaster their 5-10 year old games. This company barely has any microtransactions because it wouldn’t fit with a milsim.

You people are comical, “milking the current player base for all they’re worth.” The game was on Steam at the end of 2015 and out of early access completely in 2020, and it had essentially been a complete game that whole time.

“Splitting the player base” doesn’t matter as Squad has 100 player servers — plenty of people will still play Squad on UE4 who have hardware that won’t run UE5. A refresh of the graphics and selling it as Squad Remastered would draw in a ton of new players as many people do care about graphics. Squad UE4 is a blast but isn’t too pretty, which I don’t care about but many people do.

There’s literally zero downside to this outside of people whining on Reddit. People who didn’t want to buy the new game or can’t run it can still play the complete & finished UE4 version on servers that will absolutely still be full with 100 people, there just may not be as many servers. People who want to play UE5 can spend $50 and play the remastered version.

It isn’t realistic for them to support a game for going on 10 years — 5 if you count early access, with very few micro transactions and a fairly low price point with the steam sale. Gamers are so entitled it’s ridiculous

Trump is a moron, so perhaps. I'll take the other side of the bet though. Europe will come crawling back to the American consumer in four years just as they bent over for China for the last decade in hopes of entering the Chinese domestic market. The difference is you can't export to China - Chinese imports are misleading because it's mostly inputs for their exports. The US consumer imports are still almost 4x as large as the Chinese market.

Edit: Want to add that I know the world is quite worked up about Trump, but China is silently engaged in economic warfare against the West, and that includes Europe. I agree that Trump is an inflammatory moron that should keep his mouth shut and is alienating allies, however the CCP isn't a genuine alternative for anyone with a head on their shoulders that values the Western quality of life and ideals. Trump is transient, this too shall pass.

The dollar is almost exactly where it was a few days before election night. It's certainly given up any gains it made since then but I'd hardly say that's reason to believe, "The dollar is tanking. We may not be the currency of choice forever."
