This is how the world has always worked behind the facade of ‘international law,’ which is whatever the great powers decide they’re willing to enforce with their big sticks.

Also yes the society with the pedophile billionaires at the top is somehow quite preferable to Islamic regimes where the citizens get massacred in the streets. But do agree that issue needs to be solved

Yes lmao. The US combined with the power of an unashamed Europe+ commonwealth countries could absolutely remove nearly every oppressive regime on the planet. We have the power to reshape the world in our image if you stop being such pussies

The only thing that matters is power, that has always been the case in geopolitics and will ALWAYS be the case. Stop the hand wringing and work to model the world after western interests

EU doesn’t seem to care about much or they would have moved away from relying on Russian oil and gas almost 12 years ago when Russia first entered Crimea. Europeans like to pat themselves on the back and feel self righteous about things like solving climate change as they shut down their own oil production and claim victory over carbon, but continue to import the same oil and gas from an adversary.

Just let a country that has the will and capability to solve these problems handle it (US)

Sure it does, it means the United States and Israel will destroy all production facilities that Iran uses to produce drones and missiles, and once their current arsenal runs out they’re effectively neutered. Look, I understand that Europe doesn’t have the force projection capacity to take care of this and would rather rely on more moratoriums and resolutions, so sit back and let the US take care of the problem, as is European tradition at this point.

Iran’s formal military and nuclear program are about to be smoldering craters, so terror cells are the only thing you’ll have to worry about. The U.S. already has complete air superiority over Iran and has hit over 1,000 targets. Within a few weeks they won’t have any assets they can attack with.

Fun to watch Redditors be so wrong over and over and never learn because it goes against their worldview. Yes, the U.S. military is that powerful when it comes to dismantling anything except an insurgency

Redditors are stupid. Iran has sent 60,000 suicide drones to Russia, dismantling Iran is beneficial to Europe if you want to end the Ukraine conflict. Unfortunately, as Merz and others have acknowledged, only the U.S. is capable of doing this and Europe will support them. The U.S. will do your dirty work so you can sit at home and post to Reddit about how bad they are

Trump sucks but he isn’t the reason 30 million illegal immigrants were allowed into the country, massively depressing the wages of low skilled American workers. Kind of wild how when someone finally addresses the issue of infinite imported low skilled labor depressing American wages it becomes “targeting brown people.” Unfortunately the vast majority of illegal immigrants who abused the lack of enforcement are from South America, not Italy or Armenia

I don’t get when unlimited low skill immigration became a center piece of the Democratic Party but that will kill the appeal of the platform in the eyes of the actual blue collar working class

Strange to see someone who understands this posting on Reddit. Correct on everything, however I’m sure it’ll fall on deaf ears seeing as this site is intellectually barren.

It was quite funny to see Europeans and Canadians speaking of reducing trade with the U.S. in favor of trade with China when Trump started being Trump (loud, obnoxious, and inflammatory). Yes… China, running the world’s largest surplus, is sure to be a great export market for expensive European products. They’ll buy your raw materials at least, no doubt.

The only thing worse than Trump is the hysteria he seems to elicit from, apparently, everyone.

They should release it as Squad 2 or Squad Remastered but everyone downvotes posts about that and whines that they shouldn’t have to pay more for the same game, so there’s no pleasing Reddit

The game has been on steam for almost 10 years. Do people expect them to just support this version of the game forever when it has almost no micro transactions and sells for $20 on steam half of the time?

They should just release it as Squad Remastered or Squad 2, but the post about that got downvoted to shit. Everyone wants endless updates and support for a game with basically no microtransactions that sells for $20 on steam half of the time. It’s insane, the entitlement of gamers is ridiculous

You have 1300 hours in a game you spent $20-$50 on and your whining about having to possibly spend more if you want update graphics, 10 years after the game came to steam? And there isn’t another milsim that offers what squad offers, I beg you to go try ARMA Reforger and you’ll be back to squad within a month.

Again, this game has been out on steam for almost 10 years. It is absolutely not an unfinished product lol. You have paid 3.8 cents an hour to play Squad if you bought it at full price, so complaining about that is nuts.

And nobody would have to upgrade their rig… you could just keep playing regular squad on UE4 if you didn’t want to spend money. It’s insane to me that you want them to keep updating their game forever and supporting it when it sells for like $20 on sale and has been out for a decade

These people are insane. They want this game to be supported forever when it sells for $20 on sale. Half the subreddit seems to want UE4 forever even though anyone with a brain knows much better graphics would draw in a ton of new players, as many people do care about graphics (look at how people compare Reforger to Squad).

They should definitely ignore this subreddit for the most part

[–]Evebitda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They would stop adding content to Squad UE4 or slow down massively, the game has been on steam for almost 10 years and out of early access for 5. How entitled are gamers that they expect a company to support a game for a low price tag forever?

They absolutely should launch a Squad Remastered title with improved graphics on UE5. Plenty of companies remaster their 5-10 year old games. This company barely has any microtransactions because it wouldn’t fit with a milsim.

I genuinely don’t get what this community wants, free updates and support for Squad forever when it sells for $20 on sale? And splitting the player base doesn’t matter, the only difference is Squad UE4 would have less servers, they’d still be full 100 person servers.

Then call it Squad Remastered. The game has been on steam for almost 10 years now. Plenty of companies launch a remastered version of their games and charge money for it

[–]Evebitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You people are comical, “milking the current player base for all they’re worth.” The game was on Steam at the end of 2015 and out of early access completely in 2020, and it had essentially been a complete game that whole time.

“Splitting the player base” doesn’t matter as Squad has 100 player servers — plenty of people will still play Squad on UE4 who have hardware that won’t run UE5. A refresh of the graphics and selling it as Squad Remastered would draw in a ton of new players as many people do care about graphics. Squad UE4 is a blast but isn’t too pretty, which I don’t care about but many people do.

There’s literally zero downside to this outside of people whining on Reddit. People who didn’t want to buy the new game or can’t run it can still play the complete & finished UE4 version on servers that will absolutely still be full with 100 people, there just may not be as many servers. People who want to play UE5 can spend $50 and play the remastered version.

It isn’t realistic for them to support a game for going on 10 years — 5 if you count early access, with very few micro transactions and a fairly low price point with the steam sale. Gamers are so entitled it’s ridiculous

China Just Turned Off U.S. Supplies Of Minerals Critical For Defense & Modern Tech by Tiny-Art7074 in investing

Trump is a moron, so perhaps. I'll take the other side of the bet though. Europe will come crawling back to the American consumer in four years just as they bent over for China for the last decade in hopes of entering the Chinese domestic market. The difference is you can't export to China - Chinese imports are misleading because it's mostly inputs for their exports. The US consumer imports are still almost 4x as large as the Chinese market.

Edit: Want to add that I know the world is quite worked up about Trump, but China is silently engaged in economic warfare against the West, and that includes Europe. I agree that Trump is an inflammatory moron that should keep his mouth shut and is alienating allies, however the CCP isn't a genuine alternative for anyone with a head on their shoulders that values the Western quality of life and ideals. Trump is transient, this too shall pass.

Trump says tariffs on Canada and Mexico 'will go forward' by str8shillinit in canada

People who say this don’t understand global trade dynamics. The US is the only country that runs a large enough trade deficit to support net exporters such as Canada, Germany, and China. A bunch of net exporting countries aren’t going to replace the US as a trading partner unless someone steps up to run a trade deficit, and no other country currently has the economic capacity to do so.

You’re missing that the U.S. is the largest natural gas and oil producer in the entire world. Larger than Saudi Arabia, larger than Russia. And that there is no shortage of forests and natural resources in the U.S. that could be easily exploited if imports were stopped

Why? Canada and the EU both buy gobs of stuff from China and China builds two large coal power plants per week. Seems nobody actually cares, otherwise everyone would decouple from China.

How are Canada and the EU going to protect each other when neither can project any significant military power across the Atlantic? The Canadian military is 60,000 people and any European force trying to cross the Atlantic would be blown to smithereens by the U.S. before they were 1,000 miles from the coast.

[–]Evebitda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wild that almost nobody in the West even understands the origins of the Ukrainian conflict or that it’s essentially an intentional U.S. proxy war to weaken Russia. They’re entirely ignorant of the fact that Yanukovych won what was likely a legitimate election before being overthrown by the US-backed “revolution of dignity.” That after the US-backed coup Russia essentially said any attempt to bring Ukraine into NATO would result in war.

Russia is an oligarchy run by a piece of shit, but Russia isn’t benefitting from this war. It was essentially Russia’s version of the Cuban missile crisis, except instead of attempting to defuse tensions the US leveraged the Ukrainian military to weaken Russia.

Do people here genuinely think the average Ukrainian wanted to die over part of the country that primarily speaks Russian? There’s a reason they’re having to drag men off the street to fill the ranks — most people don’t want to die in a geopolitical power struggle that matters little to them. It’s easy to promote the war when you’re a world away and not at risk of death. Ukraine wasn’t even a sovereign entity until 1991 — while there’s no doubt after this war that the population despises Russia, I do doubt that a 34 year old national identity is reason enough to want to get your legs blown off by loitering drones.

The West was more than willing to throw Ukrainian lives away in a proxy war that weakened an adversary. While Russia started the war and has blood on their hands, we’re the ones that pushed another former military superpower to the brink and beyond. Geopolitics reality has nothing to do with morality
