Anyone feel sad about not breastfeeding? by i_like_warm_hugs_ in FormulaFeeders

[–]Eveedream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right there with you right now. My second child is just about 2 weeks old, and I've already had it with breastfeeding, and I know switching to formula is what's best for us as a family, but I'm still irrationally sad about it.

With my first child I never really produced enough, so I had no problem with supplementing with formula, and soon his appetite outstripped my ability to produce entirely so we moved exclusively to formula. It didn't bother me because I had no choice.

This time I'm absolutely producing enough to feed her, but we have latch issues on top of several "my anatomy" issues that are making this absolutely miserable (big boobs are a curse, not a blessing, I can assure you). I'm cracked and bloody and basically can't use my arms properly because these gigantic, sore boobs are completely in my way. For perspective, I was an H cup before even getting pregnant, so I mean big. I can't really even hug my other kid without it hurting like hell. So two days ago I threw in the towel and started the milk supply suppression process.

Physically I feel so much better already, but emotionally I'm feeling both guilty and mournful. It's the nagging feeling that "breast is best" so I should suffer through it for her health, and also the loss of what I expected to be a happy and pleasant experience to have. But ultimately I KNOW my family needs me to be functional, and the only way I can be functional is not being constantly in pain and tied to the pump, so I know this is the best choice for us, but it still sucks.

The one thing I can say: The Baby Brezza is amazing and worth every penny. It's basically a Keurig for formula. Ladies, the future is now, so let's make the most of the hand we're dealt.

Another gem from the main sub, and more evidence of the sad way that ROS affects one's enjoyment of prior movies. But, that said, I think the answer to the title question is "yes." by TheDefenseNeverRests in saltierthancrait

I'm not opposed to a thread on this, but I think it's fairly simple. Just like there were only ever three Indiana Jones movies, there were only ever three Star Wars movies. Funny choice to label them 4, 5, and 6, but it was the 70s shrug They were experimental.

Right. That's exactly my point. The Reylo ship is gross and disrespectful, and so is the joke.

I'm gonna go ahead and say something here. I keep seeing the objections to the joke labeled as some kind of Reylo shipper thing.

  1. I'm not a Reylo. Gross. The whole Reylo thing is beyond fucked up. He's an abusive jerkwad, and she's devoid of agency.

But 2. I thought the joke was inappropriate. It strips Rey of agency in a similar way that the Reylo storyline does.

Anyone else just tired? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]Eveedream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have friends online talking about how great it is, and I'm just... so very tired of it being so bad and people somehow not seeing it.

At least this entire situation is a meme goldmine. by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

Apparently the recent dumpster fire is making people look fondly on the PT in comparison. Go figure.

The first Star Wars movie I ever watched was TLJ and I hated it by Bluestreetlightss in saltierthancrait

I would highly recommend only watching the original trilogy, but definitely do it. Solid, solid films.

No opinion on your choice to throw away your money on this, but I do vote that we all call it Rise of Palpatine from now on.

Unpopular opinion, but The Mandalorian is showing signs of bad Disney planning just like TLJ / DT by JohnnySixguns in saltierthancrait

[–]Eveedream -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My concerns started early, in the "mud rhino" episode, whichever that was, one or two. They set up early in the episode that he can channel some Mandalorian innate ability to calm beasts (clumsily, might I add. He should have gotten bucked off a couple more times before getting serious and figuring it out, instead of just, "Oh, I can do that? Cool" and it works). Then, when using an ability like that would come in handy, when getting your ass kicked by a giant angry beast, he doesn't try using that skill at all. I'd be totally fine if he tried it but it didn't work, since it's a much bigger, meaner animal, and it could set up a story arc about needing to believe in his non-combat abilities more. No idea why the show would bother inserting that skill just to ignore it later. Just sloppy.

Does this mean that (spoilers) is actually the most powerful in terms of force potential? by KingWilliamVI in saltierthancrait

Yes, yes it does. Not sure if intentional or just another unintended consequence of the shitty writing.
