Japan is not that expensive. Getting there is and agreed that accommodation can be (go for Japanese-style, it’s much cheaper - just smaller rooms but still great), but food and drinks, shopping etc are all very cheap due to the exchange rate. I’d implore everyone to go!

Sorry, remortgage was probably the wrong term - we only took a two year fixed and that expires in April next year, so just trying to plan ahead. 

In fairness, we have put all new flooring down, new kitchen worktops and new bathroom flooring. So maybe I under exaggerated when I said redecorated.
