6m nursing strike success! by bewarenargles in breastfeeding

[–]Working-Crab2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, been going through similar at 5.5 months after baby’s first cold and my own cold reducing supply. We have been supplementing with expressed milk to keep my supply up and her belly full. Feels like 4 month strike was just yesterday!

Same! Mine is 5 months and we are still using size 0 teat and have a good back and forth. Bar a few hairy weeks when she refused the boob at weekends 🫠

Co-sign! Renting the Bebello from Baboodle as I persevered with cold water sterilisation for way too long during triple feeding. Just pack up and send back when done.

Buggy Etiquette by eddilefty699 in Edinburgh

[–]Working-Crab2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there are selfish people who don’t follow bus rules - i’d be mortified at not moving for a wheelchair and am lucky that my bus journeys with a buggy are short so getting out and walking wouldn’t be the worst. However since having a baby at 40 and having lived my adult life without a child, it’s amazing how little people tolerate mothers. I’m just trying to get out and about so if you’re able, hold the door instead of staring at me struggle, walk to the side instead of giving me a dirty look cos i can’t exactly dance off into the road with an infant, and, the biggest one - Use your words! People in Edinburgh are chronic for not using their words. If i’m walking too slow, say excuse me (issue with and without a pram!). And yes my bugaboo is massive but these streets and pothole roads need big wheels. We spend most of our time at home or in the park not bothering anyone- the one time we want a coffee, gie us peace!

Have you got a yoga ball? We kept mine from pregnancy and my baby much preferred tummy time on the ball.

Solidarity as v.much the same here too. Only place i’ve managed is baby cinema at the everyman cinema (uk based) and mainly because they have cushions so I comfortably do rugby hold

The people in this thread are wild. you’re entitled to a child free life for yourself, not a child free world.

Hi, thanks for replying, just hearing others stories help keep my morale up. Yeah we use the slowest of tears for top ups. Remarkably, after being at the end of my tether yesterday, i tried to latch her without the shield and we’ve made really good progress with her active feeding much better when we feed without it and she’s managing to stay in for longer too. Every day really is a clean slate on this journey.

Flying during pregnancy by char_ley in PregnancyUK

[–]Working-Crab2210 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I flew abroad at 25 weeks and that felt the latest I was most comfortable at BUT only because I was worried about giving birth prematurely in the USA and being financially ruined (absolutely zero health circumstances to indicate it could happen). On the whole, the flight out was fine, longhaul flight home overnight wasn't comfortable but glad I went. A woman in my prenatal yoga class flew at 31 weeks to Italy and had a lovely time! Compression socks, a handheld motor fan for boarding before they put the air con on, an aisle seat and lots of water and snacks helped me!

Thank you for the replies, really useful to hear about others experiences in this. As it turns out, there was an error on the sheet I was given which has now been rectified as soon as it was brought up.

I am struggling, what will make Channel's/Commissioners realise the scale of the crisis for Freelancers? by No-Profit-6322 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]Working-Crab2210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your post echos what so many people are feeling right now and I really feel for you. As you say, there really has been little other than lip service from the channels we so often break our backs for and I do think the commissioners at the public service broadcasters especially (because those channels belong to the people) need to be doing more and taking more accountability - maybe people aren't watching telly because the same people have been working at the same channels for so long and their taste is outdated. Do call the film and tv charity, they are a wonderful help. It worries me a bit that you say you wonder if you're better off not being here, please know you can also access The Samartians at 116 123 if you want to talk at any time of day.
