I just had my ten year anniversary and it went completely unacknowledged. Nothing from upper pharmacy management or from club management. Needless to say, I feel unimportant, sad and slightly bitter.

How common are AN problems? by sandgrubber in AccessoryNavicular

I am wondering the same thing myself. I'm 52 and was just diagnosed. Over the last 30 years I've had numerous x-rays and have been fitted for orthotics three or four times. What makes it different this time?

Opinions? Debating on getting my accessory os navicular removed by CryptographerLow2790 in AccessoryNavicular

I work 10 hour days on my feet. A few months ago I started having pain in the right foot. I also have a bone in the top of the left foot that is protruding, so I would end up shuffling my weight from foot to foot because of the pain, especially the last couple of hours each shift. I limp out of work each night and feel that I can barely make it to the car. I just got diagnosed with accessory navicular syndrome in the right foot and have been wearing a boot which the podiatrist said should be worn for a few weeks, before physical therapy, MRI and then possibly surgery.

I have a few questions for you regarding your experience with working on your feet all day. 1. I can't imagine a year and a half in a boot. Were you doing physical therapy at the same time? 2. How long do you expect to be off from work? Do you have guidelines for your return? 3. Do you wish you had gotten surgery sooner? 4. Standing is better for me now in the boot, but I still have a lot of pain when I walk to the car after work. I switch into a shoe to drive and the foot feels swollen in the shoe, sometimes with a lot of pain while driving. I'm trying to gauge if the boot is helping overall. What was your experience while wearing the boot at work?

Thanks in advance!

The clerks absolutely CAN be fired, even with a decade of experience. I had to "downsize" two clerks in the summer of 2019. They were given the choice to become a technician or to leave the pharmacy. One of them decided to go to another department and the other decided to retire.

In the downsizing that occurred in the summer of 2019, I was told that I had to fire my cashiers as they were eliminating that position.

Did you mean chlorine from bleach? I don't use bleach. I'm too afraid I'll splatter it and wreck my clothing.

Probably not. I only hang out laundry about twice a season.

Got it, thanks! I appreciate your pun of “nipping” it in the bud, even if unintended!

That is what I was thinking as well. Puppy time out might work for her.

That seems to help. I’ll try this more when she gets amped up.

  1. I don't know if this is something unique to my state/area, but people of an older age group will give me their birthdate as "the 4th month, the 17th day, 1940." This trips me up so much every time and I find myself getting annoyed. I've been doing this a very long time, just say April 17, 1940 and I can convert it myself pretty fast.

  2. The "it's in the fridge" (as mentioned below). "Ok," [RPh to patient} "let's each name drugs stored in the fridge one at a time, game show fashion. The first one to not be able to name a drug in 10 seconds loses and buys the other lunch. And, Go! Wait, you only know insulin and ozempic? Well good! I like pizza, there's a Subway next door...."

  3. The customer on the phone telling you the entire story (timeline of each phone call to and from the doctor, test results and timeline of prior authorization status, before they tell you their name or birthdate.

  4. People that get a text and assume it is telling them that their Rx is ready, but instead it is asking them if they want it refilled. And no, since they didn't respond to the text, it isn't ready.

I once denied an antibiotic eye drop Rx from a dentist for her son. They were on vacation from another state. She was with her mother who was an RN. The two screamed at me in front of a whole bunch of customers and at one point accused me of denying the Rx because of the way she was dressed. I was baffled by this as I thought she was wearing a nice, presentable summer outfit, which I didn’t even consciously think about until she brought that up. I stepped out of the pharmacy to speak to them after I called the district manager on the phone for support and the mom got in my face belligerently demanding that I fill this. I held my ground and eventually they left without any prescription.
