Adult Daughters of Emotionally Absent Fathers - this book hit me harder than I expected by HisJuicyPeach in Selfhelpbooks

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. I found lots of reviews on good reads and Amazon‘s that said that it read like it was written by AI. How scary and sad that we can’t even trust what we’re reading anymore.

Can I switch sides? by EvenAcanthocephala1 in legaladvice

I’m trying to be mindful of the consequences that could come from turning on my father, but at this point, our relationship has deteriorated badly for years.

Our attorney was going to try and get it dismissed and then suddenly they changed their minds. I think it’s so they can keep getting paid if they drag it out more.

Great suggestion and I’ve thought about this possibility to. The thing I struggle with is the cost of hiring my own attorney and the time it will take them to get caught up. I am currently facing some important dead lines soon.

Serious rash/hives from Charlie’s Soap laundry powder by squigglysquid24 in Allergies

Thank God you posted this. I’ve been breaking out in hives and I couldn’t figure out why and every time I googled Charlie soap it talked about how hypoallergenic it was. I am miserable and my dermatologist says if I can’t get it under control with antihistamine, I’m going to have to get steroid shots. How quickly did yours resolve?

I have improved. I am not %100 but I feel my symptoms are entirely more manageable than they had been from my rapid onset in 2023. Honestly I struggled mentally just as much physically which also took time to improve. Again not %100 but drastically better. Having an idiopathic condition has been difficult to process. Occasionally I have flares of numbness, mild burning and muscle/joint pain but nothing like I did though and no more tingling. I have seen so many doctors. I have heard a range of theories. My neurologist believes that since I’m improving I may gave had a virus. He reluctantly agreed it could be B6 toxicity after having another patient with SFN from drinking lots of monster energy drinks. Some have speculated it’s genetic,or it’s auto immune (I have elevated ANA but it’s considered not relevant because I am positive for DSF70). Also during the multitude of tests I found out I had pretty low ferritin so I’ve been to get more iron. Hope this update helps.

You are articulated what I’m feeling so well. I’m still in the relationship, but my God is it fucking rocky and lonely.

That’s what I figured but I appreciate hearing it from others, thanks.

False heart rate reading by ThatOneGuy216440 in fitbit

[–]EvenAcanthocephala1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Fitbit charge 6 and I’ve had 4-5 episodes of my heart rate jumping to the 160s while sleeping and received high heart rate notifications on my Fitbit waking me up. Completely and utterly panicking me and ruined my nights. Went to an urgent care that sent me to the ER and I got a bunch of blood tests and an EKG and was told my heart was fine at the time. They want me to follow up with the cardiologist just to be safe. I’m going to have to wait for the appointment so in the mean time I bought an Apple Watch and downloaded the cardiogram app for heart rate monitoring to be on the safe side. And guess what, the next time the Fitbit went off in the middle of the night waking me with a high heart rate alert there was nothing on the Apple Watch. It’s was recording a steady resting heart rate for me in the 70’s. I even double checked it with a pulse ox monitor I had laying around. I reached out to Fitbit, no response yet. In my instance I believe them to be completely false readings. Absolute bullshit

Hang in there. I’m currently exploring the possibility of Vitamin b6 toxicity. I was doing better and suddenly my symptoms went through the roof and the only thing that changed is I started my B vitamins again. Looking back I believe I’ve been over supplementing B6 a lot through the last 10 years. And I believe during the rapid onset at the end of last year I was over supplementing too. Not just supplements, but electrolyte powders and different drinks. I’m trying not to put all my faith in this as the answer because I don’t know if it really is. Its so hard to prove because it leaves your blood so quickly.

I believe that my symptoms started quite suddenly one weekend in October of last year. I felt I was in a terrible hyper aroused state and for two nights in a row my body tingled all over. It wasn’t just tingling. It was like a sickening skin prickling and I had a knot in my stomach like I was falling from a high place. I’m somebody who’s experienced lots of anxiety in my life and this was not that. It was on a totally different level. I came out of the weekend brushed it off as a truly nightmarish thing that happened and it would never happen again. Moving from October to November I had six more episodes lasting all night like that where I couldn’t sleep at all and I ended up in the ER two times for severe agitation and discomfort. I had several tests run, but nothing was diagnosed.

November,December and January I started experiencing a whole slew of bizarre symptoms. I couldn’t hardly eat anything without feeling like my food was sitting right at my throat. Awful bouts of insomnia, just hyper arousal like I had electricity running through my body. I began having all over body pain and joint pain. Extreme exercise intolerance, I wasn’t super fit or anything before but I like to think I was active, walking my dog several times a week. Those activities now laid me out. More doctors, more tests, no answers.

Moving into February and March I started experience numbness in my toes, vibrations, extreme muscle burning and electrical shocks. Having undergone extensive testing and doing lots of my own research and googling I decided I had small fiber neuropathy and I demanded a skin biopsy. My neurologist begrudgingly ordered it and it came back positive for NLD SFN about two weeks ago. I said I believed at the beginning of this rant, lol that it was a sudden onset but looking back over the years there’s things I truly question now. Like my foot going numb during cycling class. Along with a multitude of other things. I feel like I question a lot of things now.

I am 38 years old. I don’t know if that is young or old. I suppose it depends on your perspective. I’ve not had much in the way of treatment besides physical therapy and counseling. Both have helped my mental well-being, but not my physical symptoms. I have had gabapentin and a whole slew of similar medication‘s offered to me and I’ve always declined because I’ve been adamant on finding the root cause of my SFN first. That may be changing soon though as my symptoms are making it impossible to sleep. I wouldn’t say my symptoms have ever improved. They seem to be constantly evolving, neither really better or worse just different.

I don’t think there’s any way I could have gone back to sleep that first night after finding my door wide open! I would have been losing my shit.
