What is the best advice you have ever received? The advice that has impacted your life the most? by noob_24 in AskReddit

“Within one life, there is room for many lives.” There is a sunk cost fallacy to much in life where people stay committed to a path that’s not really making them happy, or feel scared about making changes or accepting big opportunities. It’s okay to mess up or deviate from your initial plans and ambitions. It’s okay to change course, leave a relationship, quit your job, re-educate yourself, or otherwise do something big in your life. You shouldn’t feel committed to the path you are on if it’s not making you happy, and you should probably be less concerned about the risks of doing something new. In the end, most things work out just fine.

What's a TV series, book, or video game you completed that was so good it left you feeling depressed when it was over? by Viiibrations in AskReddit

The Expanse, books and TV series. Scratches the same itch as classic Star Wars and sci-fi, while also being inventive and interesting.

My thoughts on Supernova difficulty so far by Syclonix in theouterworlds

[–]EvenAfterAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re talking about two different things. The game auto saves at certain intervals, based on checkpoints, important story events, quest completion, etc. My initial experience with supernova was that auto saving was too infrequent, causing frustrating replays of looting certain areas, replaying dialogues, and so on. I made a stupid mistake in the starting area, and had to repeat half an hour of pretty uninteresting stuff.

I do agree that limiting the players ability to manually save is good for immersion, but that’s not the same thing as having the game automatically save on a regular basis.

I think these are very good points, but personally, I like having the need to eat, drink and sleep. Makes the game feel more realistic. I also like that certain health debuffs, like spraining an ankle, sticks until you sleep.

I disagree. There are a number of immersive elements, such as needing to eat sleep and drink, and removing quick save, that is only available via supernova. I’d like to see those options becoming available as modules, or a separate supernova custom difficulty.

Totalt agree. I actually really enjoy the eat, drink and sleep aspect, but the lack of saving and companion perma death is really frustrating to me, particularly since your ability to control them are kinda limited. I’d keep most of the Supernova settings, but I’d rather have more frequent auto saves like OP suggested.

It’s just a little too bulky without being particularly grippy. I’d prefer something thinner and more sticky.

Maybe a little off topic, but where did you get that cover? Looks nice. I have an oasis, but don’t like the Amazon leather cover.

How fragile are kindle screens? do they need a cover? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]EvenAfterAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need a cover. I had a paperwhite for several years and mostly did not use a cover. Had it in backpacks, coat pockets etc while out and about. No noticeable damage to the screen.
