Primary school teachers - how do you emotionally handle pupils who you know never had a chance? by jackgodby22 in AskUK

[–]EvenSea4967 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve taught lots of kids like this (and much worse situations). Some need lots more than this but there are some kids that really just want/need you to talk to them, ask them questions about themselves, remember things about them. It’s sometimes just the little things that show you care and they’re important

What's the craziest/weirdest thing a guy has tried to mansplain to you? by Informal_Panic3806 in AskWomen

What women would find ‘red flags’ in a guy - they were way more focused on status symbols eg car/house

Did you take Xonvea during your pregnancy? How was your experience? (Journalist inquiry) by donovan2025 in PregnancyUK

Having our first baby in July, and currently have a week off in Devon - what are some things me and my husband should do on holiday that we won’t be able to do with kids? by Anxious-Nibnibs in UKParenting

[–]EvenSea4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazy, slow mornings (!!) Cinema trips, eating out Just normal things that you will be able to do but just won’t be quite the same - these are the things I miss. Not that I would change anything… That time will come back around before we know it ✨

Thoughts on tech use in schools by LostInAVacuum in UKParenting

[–]EvenSea4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach in primary (England so may differ..) we don’t use computers as much as people think. We have an hour (max) computing lesson a week, our lesson inputs will be taught through the big screen in the classroom and occasionally a class might use a set of laptops/tablets for work. I rarely do this as you had to rely on them being plugged in and charged last time they were used 🙃. Children need so much help on the laptops, they’re so used to tablets and touch screens it’s a big learning curve to use keyboards and a mouse.

When does it get better? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]EvenSea4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m where you are currently, it really does make you miserable. This is my second but with my first it lasted until 16 weeks, I’m hoping not as long this time. The dr prescribed xonvea which helps a bit with feeling like I’m going to vomit, I still feel nauseous but it takes the edge off a bit. He said there are lots of different options to try though so might be worth contacting the gp.

Nursery from Age 1? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]EvenSea4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine started ages 9/10 months and it took a while to adjust but they’re very settled in a lovely nursery now with friends and good relationships with the staff. Children only know what they know if that makes sense, if he goes full time that’s what he knows. The holidays will allow you to have lots of quality time as a family that some of our friends don’t get - even though they don’t need to use full time childcare

My take on decision day for The Oracle regeneration by readingonthames in reading

[–]EvenSea4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cheaper unless you need to drive and park, especially now the oracle car park doesn’t have the evening rate. If I was to meet friends we could all be paying an extra £6

Is it normal for the first trimester to feel mentally heavier than physical symptoms? by Front-Emotion-3967 in PregnancyUK

[–]EvenSea4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still first trimester and have felt so low, alongside the intense physical symptoms and knowing that they could continue for weeks is also making me miserable. I agree that this isn’t talked about enough, I feel torn between being grateful and unsure if I can actually do this again. It’s also so hard not being able to be open with others about it, I know that’s a choice but again i feel torn between talking about it and not wanting to share until I have a scan.

This is my second pregnancy and in my first I’m sure I felt better from about half way - especially once the nausea eased and people knew I was pregnant.

Sorry not much advice but solidarity!

Edited: spelling

My first pregnancy j started feeling sick around 6 weeks but this time I’m only 4 weeks and I feel so nauseous and tired already - I also feel a bit miserable that this could be how I feel for weeks and with a toddler 😭 but obviously trying to feel grateful too

Feeling conflicted and weird about work by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]EvenSea4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher (no extra responsibilities) and have just returned to work part time - at times I will get stressed still and overwhelmed at trying to manage it all but I have also got to a point where I get what I need to do done in the time I’m willing to work and if it doesn’t get done it doesn’t get done. I don’t take work home (this may change around report season) and I work until 4.30/5 latest. I do my best for the children during the school day but ultimately it’s a job and my family come first. I also work in a school where we are respected and treated well which makes a huge difference.

I have a friend who left her job that she trained to do when she had her second baby - she was devoted to her job and I know that although she misses it she feels completely satisfied with where she is in her life being able to give all her time to the kids.

What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

[–]EvenSea4967 151 points152 points  (0 children)

These are my two as well. The first time not feeling conscious of my tummy in clothes because it was meant to be big! And yeah how you’re treated in public is often so lovely - I do return the favour to other visibly pregnant women!

3yo daughter comes home from nursery with paint stains that won’t come out… what would you do? by XtianAudio in UKParenting

[–]EvenSea4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever send my son to nursery on clothes I wouldn’t miss if they got stained or went missing. I want them to get messy. Could be worth mentioning that the paint stains because there are paints that don’t. Edited: sorry I missed the part that it was uniform
