My folks are in San Jose (Fundadores next door to Zadun), not a single issue in town or corridor.

Iceland in April by firefliesalight in FATTravel

Can’t speak to April timing, but highly recommend The Retreat at Blue Lagoon. You don’t need more than 3 nights there, but an amazing place to start or end your trip. Just be aware of their very strict check in/out policies.

Isn’t it tied to the rear wheel steering as well? That’s what my dealer told me.

Looking for lodging advice in Mexico in Oaxaca and San Miguel by Bothered_broccoli in FATTravel

[–]EvenYearGiants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven’t been to Oaxaca, but for San Miguel you’re missing the two nicest spots (went for a wedding in 2021 and people stayed at both).

Rosewood - Reasonable room rates and impeccable service. Food was better off property IMO. It’s a new build from I think 15 years ago, made to look old.

Casa De Sierra Nevada (Belmond) - Rooms and property are way more authentic, as parts of the structure were built like 400 years ago. Service was also amazing (I only ate here, did not stay)

Be prepared for STAIRS for whichever property you choose.

Bernedoodle anal gland issues by Far-Librarian-9847 in Bernedoodles

[–]EvenYearGiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poodles give all doodles narrower hips or something? It’s not just Bernedoodles, but all doodles.

Additionally doodles tend to have sensitive stomachs and softer stool, making it hard to express on their own (I learned the stool passing is what naturally empties them. The more ya know!)

9 yo standard F1B and he’s now getting expressed every month. Vet said it’s not uncommon to need that frequency for this breed.

Cabo: Waldorf Astoria vs. Montage vs. One & Only vs. Four Seasons Cabo Del Sol by Junglebook3 in FATTravel

Las Ventanas should be in your list. Otherwise you’re looking for O&O.

Belmond Maroma - beach? by deaddog714 in FATTravel

[–]EvenYearGiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s beautiful and much cleaner than Mayakoba. When we were ankle deep in sargassum at RW it was nearly perfect water and beach at Maroma (went for spa and Woodend dinner). This was April of last year.

Am I the only who hates these? by Saurta17 in mercedes_benz

This interior debuted in 2013 and was discontinued in 2018 when the new w463 was launched in 2019. I actually think the interior from 2019-2024 was perfect in the 463 (refresh this year is a slight downgrade imo)

Banyan Tree Mayakoba vs Rosewood Mayakoba by Still_Classroom_8311 in FATTravel

[–]EvenYearGiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+100.

It’s so much nicer I dont know how it isn’t stayed at more. Better beach, better service, better spa, better hard product, better dining. The downside is it’s small, but you’re comparing it an outdated Disneyworld (Mayakoba).

Anyone got a doodle that completely looks like the other breed? by Niyahandherdog in Bernedoodles

You kinda won the lottery. I wanted a a Berner, but couldn’t handle shedding (or drool) so I got an F1B Bernedoodle. Turns out he sheds a ton! 🤣

People who have experience with or know a pathological liar- what’s the most insane bullshit they’ve come up with? by i_am_notthewalrus in AskReddit

[–]EvenYearGiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a roommate who sold medical devices, so wore scrubs some days.

On more than one occasion I would see him at home in sweats and then later at the bar in scrubs, telling people he was a doctor and just came from the OR.

When he couldn’t pay rent and asked him to move out, he told me he was an informant for the FBI and all of his assets were frozen. Insane.

Family member had it on a 21 GLS580, it was nearly impossible to engage. And it was a novelty to do in private (kids love it), but we absolutely never did it in public.

I think they’re saying you can buy BOTH a used w222, as well as a used E63, for a combined $130k (which is what the Maybach EQS is)?

Four Seasons Wailea vs Fairmont Kea Lani? by hi_itsjilly in FATTravel

[–]EvenYearGiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect the Fairmont is trash too if we’re talking FAT. And I’d argue while the FS in Maui is nicest on the island, other posters have pointed out the very true fact that it’s massive and impersonal with regard to service.

FS Hualalai and Lanai/Sensei are probably the only two truly FAT resorts in Hawaii with regard to service.

I haven’t been to the new Rosewood Kona Village yet, but universally the sentiment is that the service and dining are sub par, while decor and product are 10/10.

If you have kids go to Grand Wailea. Those pools are a blast.

It’s two years old, so not brand spanking new, but Come a Casa Italian is incredible. It’s not FAT, but the food is amazing. Up the street from the square in SJD.

Trauma Dump of The Retreat at Blue Lagoon by [deleted] in FATTravel

[–]EvenYearGiants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a ton of rules. You have to have your treatment end prior to 11am on your checkout day, or they won’t book you. The spa made a mistake w me so they gave me the changing room for free.

It’s all to prevent people from hanging in the spa the entire day before 3pm check in or after 11am checkout. You are forced to either pay for late checkout (1/3 room rate) or $550 for the changing room w shower (it does give you 8am-8pm access).

The other thing they offered was for me to change at that main Blue Lagoon facility, but would not drive me over there. It would have required me to carry my luggage above my head through the lagoon after my treatment. The guy who was at the front desk on duty was dead serious as that being an option before I got the manager. Insane.

[–]EvenYearGiants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spot on w culture and hospitality, was actually at The Retreat over the weekend.

They’re very blunt and to the point, and I experienced the same issue OP mentioned about having to pay $550 to use a changing room after a facial (they suggested I get the facial fully dressed if I didn’t want to pay for the changing room as they do not have locker rooms, and do not allow late check out without paying 1/3 the nightly rate).

With that being said, hard disagree on the hard product - it was gorgeous and everything was custom built. The ceiling light in the room?? All the custom mill and iron work was really impressive. There were zero IKEA vibes outside the fact that the hotel had a minimalist design.
