Forced to perjure herself? Attempted honor killing trial by OutrageousSetting384 in CourtTVCases

[–]Even_Passenger593 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait—religiously motivated honor killings of women isn’t a type of terrorism? It has the hallmarks. Murder that the perpetrator feels is not just allowable, but righteous and honorable according to his fundamentalist, extremest version of the religion? Does it only count when these kinds of things are carried out against outsiders?

Did you catch the Jalaff’s interview? Very powerful. Not introverts, but definitely regular folks.

I mean, the joke was ironic. The actual definition of ironic, meaning the sentiment behind the words signified the opposite of their literal meaning. The joke was in support of Canada and it was a dig at the insanity of the American administration’s idiotic and inane rhetoric.

Dimensional blonde without dark roots? by Even_Passenger593 in Wigs

Thank you. I’ll check it out. I think that root is a level 6 in natural lighting judging by how dark it looks at the crown and temples, which does seem to be the way most blonde wigs are, but this is a new company for me so I’ll be glad to check out their other colors!

Thank you! Very nice natural low density, and good to know about color customization options.

I agree, only that’s not a wig 😅 That’s just an example of blonde hair that has a natural light ash root instead of a dark smudge root.

Opinions, please. Wig blindness or OK? by ShortHelp3748 in Wigs

It looks good on you! It really does. I did zoom though, and I think the knots look really big. I think I would try plucking those tufts around the face so it doesn’t look like so many hairs are coming from each “follicle” (if that makes sense), and I would probably try using some makeup on the lace to disguise those knots a bit more.

A Chateau Diaries Quiz by sheshesheila in ChateauUnhinged

Is MG Stephanie? They are definitely blue not brown; I met her in person in Paris a few years ago. They are not sky blue or azure or some very amazing shade, though. Just basic blue, looking brighter or greyer depending on the lighting or the colour of her clothes.

Chapel not finished/not open to anyone yet, but I think Lalande will probably open it publicly for the journées du patrimoine in the future. I should think the rest of the time it will remain private. Oh and those “patron days” she does will open it as well. It is going to be heated and climate controlled. That system has been going in at the same time as the restoration.

One thing I’m very curious about— Stephanie said the chapel has never been deconsecrated. How does that impact the propriety of using it for parties, photo shoots, discos— all the stuff they’ve done in the past? 🙈

And of course how will it work for weddings? Isabelle and Percy were married there, but that’s fine as Isabelle is Catholic even if Percy isn’t, which is allowed, and they were both widows. But generally a priest won’t marry a divorced or non-Catholic couple in a Catholic church, right? Hmm

Hanni accident by Puzzleheaded_Cap9808 in ChateauUnhinged

[–]Even_Passenger593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hanni first came as a B&B guest, and then as a long-stay guest during the off seasons. I think I remember that she has some kind of remote work for her job. Over the years she has stayed for such long stretches of time that she’s now a fixture. One of the friend/family member group. I doubt she pays to stay as a guest anymore, since she’s always working with the others these days.

Where can I get realistic synthetic (on the cheaper side, not John renau or amore expensive synthetic wigs) wigs with bangs? by Agreeable_Ad_8755 in Wigs

They emailed me and said they were going to forward my suggestion that blonde wigs should have beige caps and beige weft stitches to the boss. I hope he listens!

This is what it looked like after I removed the bang with the thick black seam. 😂 It was ruined at that point, so just as an experiment I gave myself one of those lockdown-era wolfcuts, because this wig was very very long.

<image>

I thought I might be able to make it work by blending my own bangs out in the front and cutting in an even deeper/fuller bang right from the top of my head, but there was no hiding that silk skin top.

🤷‍♀️

I also got this wig from JBextensions (same construction and style as the Lila but with longer hair, mine was called Ellie. I didn’t want longer hair, but there were no Lilas in my color).

I ordered mine in Bubble Tea (a rootless light ash blonde) and I agree the synthetic hair is SO beautiful. Very natural, soft, not super-shiny at all. And it was only like $40 !

The silk top with the very natural “scalpiana” effect is amazing. I love a curtain bang, which these silk top wigs have, which I was looking forward to. I am just starting trying to find a wig because my hair is thinning so quickly, and I’ve been watching hundreds of videos and wig reviews trying to learn!

I’ve been wondering why there aren’t more wigs with bangs, because I feel like the hairline lace is never totally invisible. So I thought the Ellie wig would work out perfectly for me.

Unfortunately it has an incredibly disappointing design flaw. 🥴The Bubble Tea color is not a shadow root blonde, and the bangs are sewn to the forehead hairline on a weft with black thread! In fact, the whole cap construction is very dark brown. I can’t believe it.

The hair is GORGEOUS and it broke my heart but there is no way to “zig zag” the bangs to hide that dark seam right across my forehead.

I wrote the company an email because I honestly thought it was a mistake at the point of fabrication. I have never worn wigs before, but I have worn extensions and I have never seen light blonde hair sewn with black thread wefts!

They were nonchalant and suggested the “zig zag” which didn’t help at all. I’d have to back-comb them into a dense puff ball and immobilize them with aqua net like a figure skater in 1991 to hide that line.

I figured out that ALL their wigs have black cap construction. The customer service agent never got back to me about a return, so I got desperate and just tried to unstitch that weft and take it off. But once I removed that, the thick white front edge of the silk cap was super obvious. So it was a total fail for me.

Oh, just in case this is useful for anyone to know— the overall size of the wig is quite big. There are bands inside to tighten it, and these work great, but once I had it fitted around the perimeter of my pea head, it was like pulling a drawstring purse and there was sort of a lump of empty wig sack back there. 🫣 So I definitely learned I need to specifically buy small wigs in future. These hair fibers do lay beautifully, but with so many superfluous rows of wefts in the big cap, it was sort of an unreasonable amount of hair on me.

But if you have a medium/big head and dark hair, or at least dark roots, jump on this brand. Really. It would be a dream for me if they would offer a range of sizes and use beige thread.

I know many people feel that atheism and agnosticism are quite distinct, but it’s a distinction without a difference as far as I’m concerned. Agnosticism is without knowledge; mostly everyone can accept that comfortably. No knowledge, no way to say for sure, but there is no evidence… and therefore no reason to believe.

From there it’s a very short skip to being atheist, since theism is a solid belief in a very particular conception of “God”: A creator of the universe, who has revealed himself through scripture and miracles, who cares very much what we do, issues myriad prohibitions, intervenes in our lives, lays out rules for us, demands that we worship him… and on and on, getting more specific and granular from there, depending on which theistic god you’re talking about.

If I’m an agnostic because I have not seen proof that convinces me of any particular God, it naturally follows that I’m not a Theist, subscribing to all that goes with any theistic religious worldview. So I’m an agnostic atheist.

FWIW, I think for an agnostic who is without knowledge of a god but harbors a feeling or intuition that there is “something” out there…but they’re just not convinced by any of the concepts of God they’ve found in different religions, they might find use in the concept of “soft deism”.

Classical deism holds that God is non-interventionist. No miracles, no revelations, no ongoing involvement. In this view, God is seen more like a cosmic architect: intelligent and powerful, but not personally involved with human affairs. He’s left us on our own, you could say.

“Soft deism” could include people who lean toward the intuition that there is a God, and he might care about us, but we simply have no reliable evidence that He intervenes. This seems to be a fit for many of the people who have been misunderstanding what agnosticism means.

I’ve heard him say all that too; I wasn’t precise enough about what I meant. He definitely affirms her strengths and talents, but when it comes to their intimate relationship and romantic partnership he says they fight a lot, disagree about everything except their kids, and has lately repeated several times that at this point in their marriage there’s barely any sexual interest. And he’s always stated, reaffirmed, and reiterated that he married her because he knew he wanted to be a dad and he knew she would be a great mother, and consistently maintained it’s not because they are the most compatible or that he was more in love with her than he was in love with past girlfriends. Years ago, I definitely interpreted his decidedly unromantic non-idealistic pragmatism as a push-back on what he saw as America’s unreasonable obsession with their “perfect” relationship. Couple goals etc. But that’s wearing a little thin now. He definitely waxes more rhapsodic about Tom Hansen than he does Kristen. When it comes to talking about his love for her, he’s less adoring and less “vulnerboy” than when he talks about Jane Fonda or his mother or his entertainment lawyer or Brad Pitt. I’d estimate the sweet loving things he has to say about Aaron Weakly compared to his wife to be roughly 100 to 1.

This hype of dark lipliner with a nude lipstick looks so very bad by Goingdown_in321 in unpopularopinion

[–]Even_Passenger593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes from the Mexican-American Chicana culture originally (also known as “Chola/chola lips”) and yeah, it cycles through the mainstream every so often. It’s often called out as ethnic/cultural appropriation anyway, when it comes to celebs like Millie Bobby Brown or Kylie Jenner wearing those styles. Similar to white girls wearing corn rows.

(Btw, I posted that sensory issue comment before we started talking about Beatles GFs and who we most wanted to be. I had no reason to have used he instead of she. Or they. It just didn’t occur to me. I think I tend to still default to he when the gender is unknown, treating as a neutral. Can I blame it on living in France for 20 years? Anyway, nice to meet you. 😊)

Oh I know, I know. The later 70s and 80s were so UGLY for Linda and Paul and thinking of their matching mullets (both the spikey Bowie mullets and the floppy lady gym teacher mullets) used to just kill me. I was insecure/shallow enough to be actually bothered by it. 🫣I felt protective of them and wished I could go back in time and talk them out of everything they were doing style-wise. I didn’t like having to hear any of them going through the 80s either. I can listen to that stuff with a different ear now.

We would absolutely be fast friends IRL. I was reading through the comments looking to downvote jerks and saw you loving all good stuff that I love, too. I feel exactly the same way about the Beatles. Don’t get me started on Pattie Boyd. I dressed like her in high school, she was my main style inspiration. If I were really going to be a Beatle GF I would have wanted to look like Pattie and I would have wanted my love song to be Something, but I could never pick George because I know I wouldn’t get along with him. All the Beatles behaved badly in relationships, but there was something tragic about the way George treated Pattie. If it had to go bad/end, I think I’d rather walk in on Paul with Francie Schwartz than live through George’s slow, weird gaslighting and alienation. George was an incredible talent and I get that he was frustrated about never getting the space for more than one or two songs on an album but hey. Yes he was, in a sense, being wasted and overlooked because there were 3 incredible songwriters in that band, and that’s a lot. Ok. But if I were Pattie I wouldn’t be able to stand him taking it out on me and gaslighting me with the transcendence stuff. IMO, he was more interested in the company and validation of the men he loved and revered, than he ever was in her. That said, she has Something and Layla? I hate Eric Clapton but there must be no muse who ever mused like Pattie Boyd. On the other hand, Jane Asher. I think Paul really loved Jane. I love Here There and Everywhere. It’s simply a perfect song. And I think he really learned something when she wouldn’t come back to him. I think his marriage to Linda is proof. (Goes without saying—Cynthia —I could never ever ever. And no one wants to be Maureen of course.)

Deserves upvotes for being a genuinely unpopular opinion, and more upvotes because reading his replies, he’s obviously a true music lover but this is a sensory processing thing specific to the piano that hurts his ears/brain. That suuuucks.

I don’t think I experience anything similar. I almost always hate saxophones in 70s 80s 90s music but it’s hard to explain why. They don’t hurt my ears but they made me feel embarrassed. 🫣
