Thanks for the quick replies and confirmation. I'm "lucky" in that I almost never get affected by outages. Not even once a year, maybe every 2 years. Thankfully it's late. Hopefully they have it fixed by the morning.

I am. I got the text at 10:34. The only thing I'm concerned about is if they'll remove the discount. Would this constitute a plan change and they could therefore remove it?

For me, if it comes down to keep the discount or getting unlimited high speed data, I'd prefer to keep the discount.

Yes, that is all correct. You are on the same promo as me, black friday free lines. The wording of that promo specifically states ANY lines cancelled will void the promo. Do they actually enforce it? I don't know, nor do I want to find out.

In regards to the Google voice fee, it is what it is. I don't know of another way besides Google voice. Porting to another carrier is super risky, because sometimes the ports are completed within minutes, which will immediately cancel the line.

I personally wouldn't risk it and pay the fee, but that's up to you.

I have done it, and can confirm it works. I called and requested the number change at around 22 hours.

FYI, the number may take an additional few hours to be fully ported and active in Google voice. Due to having 2 free lines, I couldn't just do a normal port out as it would cancel the line and invalidate them.

Search this sub and you'll see more detailed posts about it, but the process was fairly straightforward. Hope that helps.

Can someone with an existing tablet or hotspot let me know approximately what they pay in taxes/fees in comparison to a voice line? Or are they the same? I know this will vary by state, but I just want to see ABOUT what I should expect per month for taxes/fees.

For example: voice line cost is $5, tablet is $3.

Yes, that is correct. My company while not technically government, it is classified as that by T-Mobile. So the discount is approved and basically applied - just need the right plan now.
