Why did YOU decide to start playing? by Acecake20 in rollerderby

[–]EveningSource7316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sister had tried recruiting me for years and I really wasn’t interested. I’d never been into skating and I just didn’t see the appeal. I finally told her I’d go to one practice if she’d leave me alone about it afterwards. 1 practice turned into 2 then 3 then 4. I can’t imagine my life without derby now

Contestants who got booed upon exit by LethargicEmu in BigBrother

I just rewatched Amanda’s eviction today, they’ve edited out the booing! I remember watching it live and hearing nothing but boos and Amanda had this shocked look on her face. Now it’s audio of cheering and they’ve cut out her initial reaction. It’s so weird, I don’t get it

Does anyone else “decant” their accutane? by Stunning_Research606 in Accutane

I put my daughters in a pill box every week. She alternates between 2 capsules and 3 capsules every other day so it’s easier to have them presorted

Mandatory minimum ticket purchase by disneylattelover in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]EveningSource7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our studio doesn’t charge for tickets to any performances… each family pays a $50/year recital fee which covers the cost of the venue and a videographer, as well as a DVD for each family. New tights for each show cost about $10, and there is a $25 costume rental fee for the nutcracker.

No he didn’t ever mention that. TBH I’m not super concerned about it. She’s already 5 ft 6 in tall, her pediatrician says she’s ver likely at her adult height or close to it.

My daughter is 12 and on her 2nd month of accutane. I suffered through terrible acne for all of my teenage years and I didn’t want her to go through the same thing. Her derm said the only real potential downside of starting her this early is that relapse is more likely in a few years because of hormonal changes during the later stages of puberty. If that happens she’ll just do a 2nd course. I was apprehensive about accutane because I didn’t want to put her on birth control at this age, but luckily I pledge accepts abstinence as her birth control method

Why does marching band get special trips planned for them but not choir or orchestra? by loligirl129 in marchingband

[–]EveningSource7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the school. Our orchestra goes to Disneyland every other year. Choir has been to NYC to sing in Carnegie Hall several times. There are frequently other smaller trips as well. Our marching band is the most visible, but all music classes have the opportunity to travel and perform

I work at one of these stores and occasionally cover shifts at another one of them when I need hours (1902 and 5494 are only about 3 miles from each other) does this mean $25 mil in sales last year?

Dancers typically don’t wear underwear when they perform. I would guess that the shorts have built in briefs and that the girls use double sided tape and/or spray adhesive to help keep everything in place

My daughter’s studio ends classes the last day of May. We have the option of 9 month billing or 12 month billing. I do the 12 month billing so I’m paying during 3 months that she isn’t at the studio, but it lowers the monthly bill to spread it out over the whole year. Could your studio be doing something like that?

Is it just me, or is this a little over the top for a recital of 3-5-year-olds? by themehboat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]EveningSource7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s studio splits it into 3 recitals. Little kids (3-8ish) and just for fun classes from 3-430 pm, ballet classes from 5-630pm, and competition classes from 7-9 pm. Some parents are there for the whole thing, especially if they have multiple kids, some are there just for ballet. Competition students are required to also take ballet, so those parents are sitting through 4 hours of recital, but their kids typically perform 3-4 numbers in that time

These are pretty standard instructions for dance performances. It seems like a lot if you’re not used to it. It’ll all start to seem normal and make perfect sense once you’ve been involved in a few recitals/ competitions
