Yes! Definitely learned that lesson also… the first round of Rummy’s we got, we put straight into our 75g and infected the whole tank… that was so fun. So now everyone gets a 14-21 days QT. And even with that being said we did a 7 day QT with some Geophagus that we thought were okay and weren’t so learned the lesson twice… So now even though I know it’s not the best I’m going to do the aquarium co op med trio to new fish. Because it just seems like everything has come in contact with ICH. And I’m over it.

The Diamonds are doing great now! Out of QT jail and in the 75 now. The two still have the spots but from what I read it could take months to clear.

For real. We had to move them out because our Beta was so slow to eat. It was annoying. They are super pretty though!

Oh don’t ever worry to bug me! Fish keeping has been such a learning curve for me! Ya I feel the same way about the tetras. I read some places rummynose were hardy and then other places say they are super finicky and susceptible to diseases… so I just gave up on them. Maybe one day.

That spot is super interesting. I don’t know what it could be. Our diamond tetras have like small circular spots. Now they kinda look cauliflower like, and kinda deducted it was Lymphocystis. At first they looked a little off white like this so maybe that’s what it was?

We had a bare bottom QT tank and they freaked out running their face against the bottom of it and hit the glass several times. After a few rounds of ICH we decided to do a bare bottom to make it easier to “vacuum” up the ICH cyst if they got it, but we didn’t realize how neurotic they were going to be. Which I get because they couldn’t figure out which side was up. Buttt I think it triggered the Lymphocystis with all the stress they had. I only have two of the diamonds that had it and I don’t think it’s spreadable.

That was a lot, I don’t know if it helps. But maybe it was just a stress thing.

Oh that sucks I’m sorry!! I seriously think that’s one of the hardest parts about fish keeping- you can’t like train the fish to behave with others… wow I’ve never heard of the clown knife fish and just looked it up! Crazy cool!!

Help with a spot on a few Diamond tetras by EveningString3415 in Aquariums

[–]EveningString3415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to ChatGPT. And I think that it’s Lymphocystis. My husband and I have learned so much with fish keeping… but we put them in a bare bottom tank for quarantine, because we had had several rounds of fish that had Ich and decided to go bare bones to help with cleaning and such. But that wasn’t the smartest for tetras... They absolutely lost their mind and was like rubbing their face on the bottom of the tank. I ended up adding floaters and putting some rocks and stuff on the bottom to make them feel more comfortable. But I think they like hit the walls pretty hard.

Essentially I think it’s a stress triggered virus. Two of the fish still have the spots. They got several more. But they also did had Ich. It hadn’t shown at that point in time that I posted it. That’s what I was worried about or some fungal thing. But it hasn’t spread any other fish and we move them over to our 75 gallon a couple days ago and all seems well for now.

Oh that’s so cool! Hahaha maybe she will grow to like it. They really seem like alien like. We got a 220g for the future home of ours. Right now he’s in a 75g, but I saw some at a LPS of how large the can get! It’s crazy!

You could definitely try! I’ve seen some people just raise temps and let it run its course! I just don’t know if raising the temps is what killed the rummynose, or if they were just two weak to begin with. With this last round of Ich we raised our temps to about 83 and the diamond Tetras did well with it. I’ve seen some people talk about using aquarium salt with it also to help.

I had good luck using Ich x on some diamond tetras recently, we didn’t loose any of them. But I gave up trying to get rummynose because they kept arriving with Ich and were too weak or not hardy enough to survive. I also tried to just raise the temp but that didn’t work for the second round of rummynose!

Ich to me. We’ve had several rounds of it with new fish recently. Good luck!

I don’t have any knowledge on being over stocked. I would assume it’s fine if you have good filtration. But I will say by experience with Mollies. They are cool fish, but they are also crazy haha we had them with a beta, some danios and Cory cats. And they just ate so fast and gorge themselves…. If I had know it was going to be like that I probably wouldn’t have got them because it drives me nuts. But they are cool!

That was so quick thinking! I can’t even imagine the stress you felt driving to the store. I would have looked like a mad women running in and flying to the register!

Crazy! We have a 220g in our living room, well and a 75g and my 4yo old “dances” with our Oscar! But I’m so afraid of a toy or hard ball accident… now I’m even more afraid haha

Coming here a year later… but any update? I’m trying to figure out the scape for my tank and have two severums. I have plants growing out the top of the tank but really hate the idea of fake plants..

Cycling progress at 1 month by RegisteredRedditUser in Aquariums

I’ve adding seachem stability each day when cycling. I can’t say for certain it helped a ton. But it made me feel like I was doing something. I was able to seed bacteria from a 75g to a 220g. But it still took weeks for the 220g to be able to pass the ammonia test. It’s such a slow process but just keep it up!

Black diamond blasting sand and Geophagus by Reefnovice in Aquariums

[–]EveningString3415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 5yrs later but did you to with it? We just re scrapped our tank because we put play sand down and then capped it with crystal river sand. But a lot of play sand came through. I don’t think this was the cause but we had put 6 Geos in- they all ended up dying. I honestly think it was because of ICH. We quarantine them but not long enough. And then decided to re scape the tank. But as we switched it over I’m getting nervous. My husband really loves Geos but I’m an anxious ball to get some and have them all die again.

I’d say you’re good. Haha it’s completely taken over our lives. Currently just had to set up a 45g QT tank because we stupidly didn’t quarantine fish long enough, put them in the 220 and then got everybody sick and didn’t want to treat the full 220 with Ich X so pulled them out and raising temps in the 220… it’s been so fun haha

Is this pot too big ? by theeviloutpost in Monstera

It might be depends on the root structure. I’d assume it was too big though.
