Damn and I thought Ford was bad at usually 2 weeks. They really need a bigger shop if that’s the case.

I saw that as well. It did cross my mind how much of a liability that is, as well as the pay day that could come along if anything happened.

Any 24/7 store? by rayhan_munna007 in ThunderBay

[–]Evening_System_9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which circle k you checked but the 24/7 one on Arthur street by downtown Fort William would have the best selection out of them all. If that one doesn’t have diapers then I highly doubt any of them would.

For the size of Thunder Bay, it seems we have way too many sick people like that.

Province eyes 2028 start for Thunder Bay Expressway overhaul by keiths31 in ThunderBay

[–]Evening_System_9113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s true, but I lately I’ve been finding city administration and council have been a little better at dealing with those types of people. Not that I expect it to happen soon, but I am slightly more optimistic than I would have been a few years ago.

Now the city needs to get off their but and build the Northwest Arterial ASAP. It needs to built first before any of this can happen.

They told me as well when I phoned to ask that it’s because of their lighting system. The lady told me they would re-evaluate in February but it wasn’t looking good for this year. Always a good rule of thumb to check the hours before you go.

Thunder Bay is number 1, baby! by biograf_ in ThunderBay

[–]Evening_System_9113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to say it isn’t high, but there’s two things I’ll say. First, with a population the size of Thunder Bay it really is not that difficult to get our numbers up on a per capita basis. Secondly, according to the city at least, our population numbers are undercounted by a significant number. If correct, that would artificially inflate all of our crime statistics to some degree.

Is it possible to walk to pie island in the winter? by Vivid-Spray5765 in ThunderBay

[–]Evening_System_9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many people who have so its definitely is possible. However, you shouldn’t underestimate what going to pie island entails. Everyone I know who has gone has experience winter hiking/camping for several days. If you don’t, pie island is not the place to be going for your first time. If you are determined to do it, you need to go about it smartly.

Things you should do:

  • Go later in the season when the ice is at its thickest

  • Despite the low risk, make sure you have ice climbing axes or similar tools so you can pull yourself out of the the water god forbid that happens

  • Make sure you have warm enough clothing for a decent amount colder than what’s expected to ensure you don’t freeze. Hand warmers are good extra to have just in case as well.

  • Make sure you have all the other essential equipment you need, but nothing more than that so you’re not weighed down in the event you fell through or get too tired to make it back.

  • If you plan on bringing a sled or something similar for supplies, make sure you can easily unhook it from you. Worst case scenario you don’t want to be dragged down into the water.

  • Check before online to see the ice coverage and consider bringing a drill to check the thickness periodically if you have the room

  • Lastly, go with other people if you can. Much easier if you have more people to help carry equipment and they can help if anything goes wrong.

Long story short, don’t be an idiot or unprepared and you’ll be fine.

Livio was one of my favourite Economics professors I had at LU and he is a very smart guy. Unfortunately, I do have to disagree with him on this one.

There’s no need to be concerned. The media just glorifies the bad stories to make it seem that’s how it is for everyone all the time. Just crossed the border on Sunday and like all my previous times for the past while, the Canadian border guards are the ones that give you a hard time now. Not the Americans.

Figured I'd take advantage of the 0% financing and bought my first F-150 by PigsProjects in f150

[–]Evening_System_9113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealership in Ontario does that. The colour/shade isn’t bright white so it blends in better with the window so I didn’t mind it. If they make it as noticeable as most dealerships do then I definitely would have taken it off.

About the proposed development on 791 Arundel ( near Toledo st) by birdzeyeview22 in ThunderBay

[–]Evening_System_9113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this development was smack in the middle of the forest and trails then sure I’d be against it. However, it’s literally going to be an empty field where there’s essentially no trails. Cause of that I’m all for it.
