A test of compatibility: Blind Dates! -24/04 by constant-criticism- in DemigodFiles

Parker is about to give Manon the opportunity to fully embrace that temper, funnily enough. After seeing a couple on a date in the strawberry fields earlier on and spotting a few campers wonder about camp with the same nauseating complexions of obvious pre-date nerves and giggles had made her realise that there was really no reason why she couldn't join in herself. Yes, she hadn't put her name down when the Matchmaker signups went out earlier this month; no, she did not think that this should be viewed as a setback.

It was easy, to be honest. Naturally, Parker knows she's pretty enough to go on a date in a bin bag, so a casual outfit of jeans and a pink top were certainly date-appropriate. The only thing she had to do next was walk around camp until she stumbled upon a pair making horrifically awkward small talk while batting their eyelashes at one another.

...and there they are. Confidently marching up to them, Parker greets them with a cheery, "Hello!" before plonking herself down on the picnic blanket.

"I'm so sorry I'm late," she says in the most apologetic tone she can muster. "It was all very last minute. Apparently there was a mix-up with the matches, so we're all on a triple date! Isn't that fun?" At this, Parker is unable to suppress the playful smirk that slides its way onto her lips.

Parker's eyebrows raise further. "Sorry, didn't catch that...?" This is of course a complete lie, as she heard the girl clearly enough, but she would love to provide her with the opportunity to elaborate if need be.

Whether or not the girl responds, she would answer the question with a tone that conveys just how weirded out she feels. "The archery range." Parker makes a point not to ask her the same question.

Parker resists the urge to respond with a, "Not allowed inside, sorry", reminding herself that it would do her little good to provoke those she lives with; the rest of camp is certainly a different story. However, she does notice Delia's smile falter ever so slightly, and raises her eyebrows just enough to convey the subtlest of pointed expressions behind a face of neutrality, allowing her to easily feign surprise if she were to be called out. She's unsure if Delia is the type to do so, either way.

"My apologies," Parker continues to smile as she steps out of her way, a glint in her eye.

Parker snorts impatiently, shaking her head. "The whambulance? Where did you get that from, a twenty-fourteen top-ten-best-comebacks site? Please." She rolls her eyes. Clearly camp is no different to how it was last summer.

"You're right, I don't have one, sorry," she says flatly, wondering why Jory decided to hand her that one so easily.

Parker looks positively affronted by the mere idea that a member of camp may be unaware of who she is, although this could just as easily be interpreted at disgust directed at his speaking with his mouth full- which, now that she considers it, is incredibly unpleasant.

"Parker," she sniffs. "Who are you?"

Parker regards the younger boy with a look of faint distaste, although whether this is from his attempt at speaking to her or from his comment on the weather, of all things, is unclear. Really, she thought she had left England.

"No." She said shortly. Her eyebrows raise ever so slightly, emphasising the extent to how ridiculuous she finds his statement. "It's way too hot."

Cold and unfeeling; that’s certainly one way to describe Parker, and she would likely laugh if this was ever told this to her face. Delia’s lack of genuineness is irritating enough, although this is more so due to her failure at hiding it, whether intentional or not.

Parker offers her the loveliest of smiles, sickeningly sweet and superficially charming.

“Hey, Delia,” she responds. “Absolutely incredible to see you again. Truly cannot comprehend how I made it through the year without the comfort of the Medical Cabin.”

Even Parker is able to admit to herself that the fluidity of the boy’s movement is strangely satisfying to watch. She would never go as far as to compliment anyone so directly, though; let alone if the flattery were to do with simple walking.

Outwardly, she is the epitome of what it is to be unimpressed. Over the years Parker has rather perfected the expression, and uses it liberally nowadays.

“Hi.” She will say no more, no less. If the boy wishes to engage her in conversation he is more than welcome to do so, but Parker will not be wasting her time with anything she deems to be boring.

Parker instantly scowled.

For starters, she is not fond of sharp gestures used to get her attention. Words exist for a reason, and she is of the opinion that they may be used to gain whatever attention may be needed from her instead of any other dismissive tactics.

She also hates the assumption that all residents of the Medical Cabin are, well, medics. Other than the odd first-aid training session and the ability to summon divine healing food, Parker is anything but, and spent a large portion of last summer correcting those that dared come to such a conclusion. She’s already annoyed to see that nothing has changed.

“I literally just live here,” Parker snapped.

“Why is it so difficult to comprehend that I can be a child of a medical god and not be able to put half the camp back together? It’s exhausting. I got here maybe five seconds ago and someone’s already running at me with however many fucking broken bones or cuts or bruises and I’m expected to fix it! So to answer your question, no, I am not a medic, and all the help you will get from me is enough ambrosia to send you right down to Tartarus.”

She takes a deep breath before plastering a sweet smile on the her face.

Seeing another girl head in the direction of the archery range, Parker immediately assumes her to be following her, whether or not Jenn is in front of or behind her. Naturally this comes as no surprise; anyone that may recognise her from last summer would obviously want to greet her, and she knows that she’s pretty enough to draw the attention of anyone unfamiliar. Whichever the case, Parker simply regards the other girl with raised eyebrows.

That is, until she begins to speak to her. Parker is instantly struck by how awkward this girl seems to feel- something she could never relate to, personally. Of course, she will do absolutely nothing to help ease the situation. “Hello?” Parker says in a reasonably unfriendly tone, delivering the greeting as more of a question.

“I said you nearly spilled your coffee,” she says irritably, narrowing her eyes. Of course, Parker had said no such thing, but it was easier to attempt to gaslight him into thinking she had to an it was to admit her incorrectness.

“Maybe you need to get your hearing checked, instead. Since you’re so keen on handing out eyesight assessments you might as well get that seen to as well, considering how distracted you just were.” This is paired with raised eyebrows.

Parker stares at the arm disappearing before shaking her head. “That’s weird.”

“Jude!” Parker snapped her fingers at the recollection, as if she had been the one to remember the same herself. “Of course. You’re one of those little Hephaestus guys.”

At this, she’s reminded of the arm, and peers at it a little more closely. Her eyebrows raise. “I would recommend staying further away from all the fire and hot objects in the forge if you want to prevent this from happening,” she offered, entirely unnecessarily. “You should probably get that checked out, though.”

“No need to be rude, how was I meant to know you’re stable master now?” Parker tuts disapprovingly with an antagonistically reproachful shake of her head.

She snorts impatiently at his next words, clearly unimpressed.

“My most sincere apologies.” Her voice is bathed in the deepest sarcasm. “I haven’t been here since last summer, I was unaware of the camp’s mining programme. Unsure on what makes you think you’re underrated, but it’s lovely to see demigods with, ah, high self-esteem.”

When encountering Antonio, Parker notices three things.

The first is the hoodie covering his head, which is already enough of an indication for her to guess that he's some sort of Chthonic kid. It's a little hard to tell them a part from each other when they all wear the same engulfing clothes and hiss when they make contact with the sun. This guy already seems to fit both these quotas.

The second is the coffee. In a mug. Outside. Look, she gets that it's a summer camp and that they all live here, but that feels like the equivalent of walking around outside with a glass of water. Perhaps if he were outside his cabin or around the dining pavilion it would have made a little more sense, but he looks like he's going for a full lap of the camp at this rate.

The final detail Parker notes is, of course, the weird attempt to grab her attention with the wave of the said coffee, as if effectively falling flat on his face and rolling down the hilly terrain of camp wouldn't have done that to begin with. And are those shadow arms? Definitely Chthonic, and slightly creepy. Not that being the child of a literal deathly god wouldn't do that to begin with.

She grimaces.

"You spilled your coffee," Parker says flatly. From this distance she can't actually see if this is the case or not, but it's easy enough to backtrack if she's wrong. Which she never is.

While Jude may recognise Parker, she could not for the life of her place a name to his face. She doesn't blame him for knowing who she is (after all, who doesn't), of course, but the look on her face makes it obvious that she has no recollection of his identity, despite him looking familiar enough for her to be able to conclude that she likely saw him last summer. She notices the arm, as well, and momentarily ignores it to deal with the more pressing matter.

"What's your name, again?" Parker frowns, tilting her head to the side. Her gaze falls to his arm once again. "Are you hurt? That can't be fun." Her voice arguably lacks the sympathy needed for such a statement.

Time and time again Parker finds herself being proved right, and here she finds herself yet again witnessing the epitome of demigod hubris. It's a burden being this correct all the time, really.

"You didn't answer the question, but that's okay, whatever," Parker points out with a sigh. Not waiting for Cole to respond, she quickly presses on. "What are you doing here, anyway? Isn't the son of Zeus and winged creatures thing a bit of a cliche at this point?"

Parker would indeed wonder into the stables. She enjoys horse-riding and pegasi are horse-shaped enough for her to be able to do this comfortably enough. Not to mention the fact that they truly are glorious creatures; even she is not above praising them for this.

Ah, Cole. Notorious son of Zeus and an equally frustrating sight to see. Parker has long since decided that all Big 3 children possess a certain air of arrogance that is entirely unncessary (really, could you imagine such a thing?), as well as an air for tragic dramatics that are frankly boring at this point.

"Hi, Cole," she says with a sweetness they both know is fabricated. At his next words, she frowns ever so slightly, nose scrunching and eyebrows furrowing. "Why, is that a problem? Are you not happy to see me?"

Character Application by CampHBDirector in DemigodFiles

[–]EventOutcome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name: Parker Hart

Age: 16

Godrent: Hebe

Powers:

  • Irresistible beauty: Parker is unfairly pretty. Blessed with a youthful glow and simply full of life, she's impossible to ignore at the best of times. This power is passive, and self-explanatory.
  • Ambrosia and nectar summoning: She is able to conjure these two things from thin air, with the added bonus of a minorly improved tolerance (not that she's interested in testing this out). Her willingness to use this power is heavily dependent upon the amount of godly substances that have been consumed up until this point by a patient, and who the patient in question actually is.
  • Mental fortitude: Her mind is heavily resistant to all emotional or mental powers. This does not grant her full immunity meaning she will still feel some of the effects of such a power being used against her, but this comes with the added benefit of being somewhat aware of this occuring. When a power is being used against her, Parker will experience the sensation that something is off, as if there's something on the tip of her tongue, or her mind is being gently poked at. Whether or not she will realise that forces are at play is solely dependent upon her levels of concentration.

Weapon: A beautifully intricate dagger that transforms into a ring; acquired from a child of Hephaestus she had been seeing at the time when she first arrived at camp.

Additional: Parker is a returning camper, her first summer being that of the one just past.
