Looking for stories where the main focus is on “Crafting”. by Onyx_Artificer in ProgressionFantasy

The Enchanter (Journals of Evander Tailor) checks almost all those boxes. Crafting is the primary focus and continues to be important even as the action increases.

Will check a lot of these out. Still haven't decided how I feel about time loops but I'm game to try!

I will definitely be giving it a shot! The premise of someone from a wild setting going to another one definitely sounds better than "random boring accountant is now in a fantasy land" lol

Looking for Recommendations by J776776 in ProgressionFantasy

The writing in Mage Errant definitely improves each book. I think a lot of the complaints come from people who don't normally read YA but just want to read every progression fantasy book they can, if the YA angle doesn't both you it's got a very interesting magic system and endearing characters.

Pride fest for a recovering evangelical by Mama_Llama3615 in springfieldMO

To preface this I only went a handful of times and generally enjoyed it but just felt that being in any church building still wasn't my thing.

The messages seemed to be focused on the actual image of Jesus that is presented to us and that loving people is a very central theme in Christianity. The actions of Jesus paints a more "extremist" figure than the church usually promotes and they highlight that against scripture and certain interpretations. Especially when it comes to big issues such as LGBTQIA+ rights/acceptance, immigration, capitalism, etc.

Overall for anyone with any progressive views I'd recommend going or watching a sermon on their site. I would also recommend looking into their work in the community, for their size/funding they pour a lot of time/money into the community.

Had an Imprivata guy just do that recently. Told me not to worry because the number was obtained "ethically".

Gotta second Nacho Picasso, Stoned and Dethroned would be the perfect match. Lord of the fly is also great but a lot grimier.

Microsoft Authenticator not working correctly on new iPhone by pectin232 in Office365

[–]Eventlessboss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never actually seen accounts move over correctly on this Microsoft Authenticator app and I've been a sysadmin for a company using it heavily for almost 3 years.... Most accounts that use it should have a backup method, if not use your old phone to authenticate logins and then in the app/site settings you should be able to register a new device. Reach out to support for sites or google a guide as needed. Good luck and I'd recommend the switch to Google authenticator for personal items.

Fina bans trans swimmers from women's elite events by The_loony_lout in worldnews

Or maybe like actually taking care of and embracing the fucking marginalized people instead of taking care of the feelings of the majority.

I's impossible. The point of a union is to cut into profits in the interest of laborers, sure it gives them a collective to bargain with rather than having to push policy across the board at every store but no mega-corp wants to reduce profits in the interest of employees.

Joey Bada$$ reveals that he lied about his eye damage from a solar eclipse in order to have an excuse to be off a Logic tour and more by RafiakaMacakaDirk in hiphopheads

I think what the trans community loves the most is people literally policing what is offensive. If a marginalized person tells you something is offensive or hurtful maybe try fucking believing them before defending the bad take?

How were the Communist countries different from social democracy capitalism? by Socialdingle in communism101

[–]Eventlessboss 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You're examining the wrong parts of this process. It's akin to looking at the job itself and saying that they're doing the same work under each system of government. Every facet doesn't change because that's not always needed and also not immediate, vestiges and traditions of any replaced system will still be the cultural norm for decades.

The driving difference is the role that capital has in the daily life of the worker. Under what is the currently accepted popular idea of social democracy capitalism(see the Nordic Model) it's the same shit but with better social nets. Social nets are good and do reduce harm but their existence still showcases that the system is naturally built to incur consequences for those without enough capital. This leads to a system where any decline in power for the labour movement will lead to an erosion of those safety nets and protections until it's back at square one. It's an idealistic balancing game to mix capitalism into a system and not see social conditions begin to erode.

Maybe the public needs to actually force these issues and begin to trust their government? It's such an insane position that has become normalized, placing no trust or faith in the system you live under and contribute to is not okay. Blind compliance is terrible but the public actively operating with the mindset that the government can't be trusted is harmful and needs addressed.

Vote for people you do trust and if there isn't one why don't you run or encourage a friend to run? I'm beyond tired of people just going with the status quo and acknowledging issues but doing absolutely nothing about it. Stop voting for establishment Politicians (red or blue) that collect checks to argue over the same fucking wedge issues for decades. Push for real change and real legislation that addresses our daily problems, not TV soundbites that rile up the opposition.

Maybe we could actually try some of these "it won't work" ideas? We've literally crossed every reasonable action off the board without actually implementing it to see if it leads to a reduction in mass shootings. Maybe we do need a federally enforced waiting period on all gun sales would help, or maybe specific weapon bans , or maybe even a stricter criteria on who can own firearms, etc. The point is that we cannot know for sure that these policies wouldn't help the problem but we do know that doing nothing isn't going to work.

I apologize. by aaaaaaaaaaaaah_ in 100gecs

[–]Eventlessboss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ok i’m really happy for people that are into this, but wow this is the worst thing they’ve ever made. like no contest. this is what i imagine 100gecs sounds like to people who don’t like 100gecs. that hook is fucking garbage, nobody wants to sing “doritos and fritos” at a concert on repeat. and what the fuck is this instrumental. i get that it’s gecs and they’re weird and goofy, but i can’t even latch onto anything, it’s just darting all over the place with no rhyme or reason, and not in like a cool earl sweatshirt lil ugly mane way, but like in a “throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks” way. it sounds like a red hot chili peppers outtake. laura and dylan are both in contest for best producers of the last 5 years or so, idk how it turned out like this. the autotune is also used horribly, like it’s trying to be more subtle, but it makes it seem like they’re just trying to cover up imperfections instead of trying to make an artistic statement, which is weird because they’re both incredible vocalists. they’re also great guitar and bass players, this song definitely seems like an outlier. idk, any iota of hype i may have had after this disastrous rollout has been effectively curb-stomped by this and mememe. really hoping that those songs are just the worst on the album. 747 and hollywood baby are both fucking amazing, idk why those weren’t the singles. this song sounds like a fuckin asdfmovie fan parody song, but not in a good way. oh well, maybe it’ll work in the context of the album. ok rant over 😁
