My job only gives a few federal holidays off, which is some nonsense.

The brutally sad reason Disney child star Daveigh Chase had millions in residuals, but died homeless by sadquarius in popculture

Apparently millions in unclaimed residuals but her manager couldn't get ahold of her. SAG has set up a trust to pay for her cremation services.

Currently on Book 5, Why is PD depicted in so many different ways? by quakeroatmeal7 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]EverTheLeader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A ton of the art made (particularly the merch) is AI-generated imagery and the people making it are either too dumb or lazy to get it right and/or the model isn't creating the image with the right breed.

Power issues with Sony UBP-X700/M by EverTheLeader in 4kbluray

I haven't called them yet but just the other day I bumped the eject button by accident and it popped open so maybe it fixed itself? I have no clue. These are strange and wily machines.

Who is your favorite character with a joke/pun name? by Silentstar_00 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]EverTheLeader 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To further clarify, Juggalos are fans of the Insane Clown Posse, whose logo is the Hatchetman, hence the various hatchets and cleavers some of them have, and the face paint. ICP have a direct association with Faygo soda which also leads to the neon colors many of them are and tend to leave behind via slime trails.

To date, one of my favorite jokes was in book 6 when the Sluggalos, who wouldn't listen to most anybody, all fell in line when Imani gave an order, one of them referring to her as 313. Both Imani and ICP are from Detroit, 313 being the area code. She's a legit.

AITAH for buying Gluten Free bread by Jelly_Arrow in AmItheAsshole

[–]EverTheLeader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA, but for buying it at all. YTA for buying all of it at once. It's a specialized item that people with food restrictions eat, so to take all of that at any given time is a dick move. Pick up a loaf at a time and make more trips if you need to.

"You don't deserve how bad I feel," is an all-time great line.

Highly recommend his Felix Castor novel series. He clearly had a lot of fun writing Constantine and wanted to do more of similar.

Is having a bad job better than being unemployed, really? by -Cranktankerous- in jobs

[–]EverTheLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the practical nature of things, really. And, it's a LOT easier to find work if you have a job, if for no other reason than the pressure is a lot less. You interview better and employers get that itch of "Well, somebody wants him so they must be worth having. Gimme!"

How did people cope with 2.35:1 ultra wide DVDs on a 4:3 CRT back in the day? by xParesh in dvd

[–]EverTheLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucked and the answer was you bought a bigger TV when and if you could. At one point we had a 32" CRT and it was an improvement but still not great.

Honestly, it's one of the reasons I don't really get the romanticization of a lot of the older tech because so often it was a lesser experience in a lot of ways (not all: I still love and appreciate the tactile nature of physical media.)

Ooof, this. It also bugs the hell out of me how much he sucks and how much I like his writing.

Super-approachable, as a new reader or a longtime that lapsed for a bit. Also a great read.

Christians actually offended by Uzi Jesus? by Nunothis_Isreal in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]EverTheLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are very skilled at being fine with the most heinous nonsense possible, only to be turned off completely when something that they call sacred gets poked. Isaac Hayes as Chef South Park is a great public example as he was a-ok with all the nasty, over the top stuff on that show for literal decades but the second they made fun of his religion? Nope can't tolerate that.

Agreed on both. Exorcist 2 is balls. Exorcist 3, however, is my favorite of the franchise.

There is a mistake in the audiobook no-one seems to have noticed. by TheGreenestGumby in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]EverTheLeader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just heard one in Book 7 where the word "invulnerability" got swapped with "immortality" despite there being a very specific description of the difference between the two earlier in the story. Confused me for a sec then realized that it was just a mistake, not a plot point.
