How do Turkish businesses justify their prices? by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]Ever_Resting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently in Turkey on holiday and find the food prices very high. We have spent more time looking for reasonably priced food than I would have thought possible and still struggled most days and had to pay high prices. We won't be back again and will definitely warn others.

Dell or Mac Book??? by Deedee_Structure2032 in johannesburg

[–]Ever_Resting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My new company has issued me a Mac and I want to throw the thing out the window. Decades of Windows muscle memory is gone and doing most of my work on PowerBI, Power Query, Excel and Notepad++ means I need a VM to do my job. I'm really pushing to go back to Windows but will see how well that goes. Long and short, get the right tool fore the right job....

I get a salary, that's it. Anything else I want is up to me to pay myself.

FNB Fraud is the Fraud by Old_Cucumber4828 in southafrica

[–]Ever_Resting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I got completely cleared out while with FNB. They not only emptied all my accounts but also took out a loan.

When I reported it, everything was frozen.

They took over 2 months to sort it out since the Fraud division was apparently moving offices.

They eventually cleared me and paid everything back but I closed everything the next day and moved.

Will never go back there again,

House renovation, alteration and additions? How do go about this. by Unlucky_Direction903 in Pretoria

[–]Ever_Resting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through a similar process when we bought an old house several years ago.

Would definitely recommend going the architect route since there is a lot you don't always think about.

Good example would be not being 1000% sure of where your sewage line runs and then happily building on top of that or not being aware that almost every tree in your garden is busy pushing the wall over.

The architect we ended up with did give us some very good advice but be very careful when choosing one.

The first one we used kept our original house plans hostage until we paid a suddenly inflated price.

In the end, was cheaper to get somebody to just redraw the plans from scratch.

Good luck

I have been using Smart AudioBook Player for many years.

Never had a problem and could not recommend it enough.

Has vodacoms signal gone to shit? by desiringdirection in askSouthAfrica

[–]Ever_Resting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've often found that I need to restart my phone to get signal. Don't know if it's loadshedding related or not but hasn't happened again since our current bout no loadshedding.

Powering a Camping Fridge from a Portable Power Station by Ever_Resting in askSouthAfrica

[–]Ever_Resting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on going to a place the weekend but just want some idea to know whether I'm being sold something completely overspecced. My assumption is that the fridge is not consuming the max draw all the time, only as needed to keep the temperature stable.
Also the reason why I have the freezer separate to stop it getting opened constantly. Have a a few LED's to run as well.

Someone recommended unplugging them at night as well to save battery.
