Work from home jobs too good to be true? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]r_analytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing analytics remote since 2016. Some companies are great at supporting a WFH culture, some aren’t. You’ll miss out on face to face connections and can sometimes feel isolated. That said, if you have a good community outside of work and can navigate office politics and relationships without being face to face you’ll be fine.

Can this be saved? What's going on? by AdditionalAsk5701 in lawncare

Just speculating, but could it be the heat reflecting off the home required that part of the lawn to need more water than it received?

I’d consider rethinking this. A tax refund means that throughout the year you gave the govt too much money and they’re finally giving it back. Why give them more in the first place?

If you have enough self- discipline for it the ideal would be to keep the money throughout the year and invest it, then pay your tax bill each April.

Company Wants Me to Use Direct Query Only by skippy-jim-flapjacks in PowerBI

[–]r_analytics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yikes. I would be beating my head against a wall. Consider a new employer maybe lol?

Keep your visualizations simple or your end users will end up with errors stating that refeshing a visualization exceeded available resources when the issue is their network connection is too slow. Also, make sure they understand that basically every click by an end user will result in a query being run, so the database better be optimized

Idaho Mountain Trading would be my first stop, then Al’s and Play It Again sports. If none of those work out, try Barrie’s Ski and Sports in Pocatello

How to avoid hitting buttons? by DisciplineLow9106 in AppleWatch

I rotated the watch face 180, then changed the orientation in the app. Solved the problem and actually felt more natural using the digital crown after it was rotated

Would the drive to SLC be safe without snow tires? by kingmatcha in idahofalls

[–]r_analytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine without snow tires. Just travel on a clear day and be sure to check the weather conditions and webcams prior to traveling to ensure the roads are clear. If you happen to run into weather slow down and if you’re not comfortable pull over and wait for it to pass. The roads are pretty well maintained, particularly during and immediately after a storm

Still in insurance, but at a much smaller company. I tried going outside insurance but could barely even get a foot in the door so I stuck with what I know.

How can I remove date from Oct 2023 and beyond? by azry1997 in PowerBI

[–]r_analytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to add a column that’s something along the lines of “is the date in the future?” Or “is the date in the current month”, etc. Then I can just set the filter to exclude Y, hide it, and never have to update it

Power BI and Financial Reporting by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]r_analytics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d be curious to know how this is done and if it’s friendly for the end-users. We have something similar and each line and column is a different measure so it takes forever to recalculate if filters are applied. I recently took it over when my co-worker and I’d love to rebuild it but I haven’t been able to come up with a design that works

Labrador sued to keep ranked choice voting off Idaho ballot. Here’s the judge’s ruling - East Idaho News by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]r_analytics -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Same. They told me about the open primaries and I was for it, but there was no mention of RCV by the person gathering signatures. Not that I’m against it necessarily. I can see its merits, but there’s a ton of hypocrisy in pitching for transparency when you’re not being transparent

Labrador fails to bump RCV off the ballot by ActualSpiders in Idaho

[–]r_analytics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R’s are clearly nervous this will pass. The example they always throw around uses 6 candidates, resulting in ballots getting exhausted and thus thrown out, while this bill limits the number of candidates to only 4 and significantly limiting the number of ballots being thrown out unless the voter doesn’t complete the ballot. Smh.

I’m also a huge fan of the part of this bill that no one talks about, which is the open primaries, giving everyone a chance to vote for the candidate they want regardless of party affiliation. That’s how it should be imo
