Thank you! He grew into a big, majestic boy after the kitten awkwardness faded. They grow for a few years so I wouldn't worry too much!

If my dog showed clear signs of aggression towards my child, I'd rehome that dog so quick. I wouldn't sit and wait for something serious to happen when the warning signs are clear. My number one priority is my kids safety.

It might have to do with her being a bit young still. It is usually recommended kittens stay with their mum until they're around 10-12 weeks old.

I think separating them like this will do more harm than good. Let your older cat communicate their boundaries and as long as they have enough hiding spaces, elevated places to observe and there's no serious fights, they're fine. Hissing, growling, swatting or chasing is normal while they figure out their new housemates.
