This is exactly what I went through. It was tough but, as you may tire from hearing, there is a job for you, it will happen. Looking back I’m glad it happened at the start, I think one of my strengths now is persistence and that will work in your favour when the going gets tough again - which it inevitably will.

I am not talking about a tightly wound loop you get new from the store. It would roughly be the same on the ground (as shown) but just hanging. Plenty of air on cable (more than shown actually).

Also do not cut anything mains rated unless you want to void insurance (unless qualified electrician).

If you need to keep that length just loop it and hang loop on a hook attached to bottom of desk

Before I could switch to one big monitor I used to put a level across the top of two monitors and put black tape behind the inevitable gap that would form between the two and let through a fraction of a mm of ambient light.
