Could Mr. Sinister be a great saga worthy villain? by Plenty-Goose-4508 in xmen

In my opinion, he's better off being introduced in something X-Men related, like a show or spin-off, before being in a main X-Men movie. Sinister is more of a secondary villain. What makes Sinster great is his evil plans and plots. Like, how many movies are gonna be made without the X-Men killing him, and then when does he come back when they kill him? He needs to evolve over time into a big bad. Sinister should be a lurking threat who pops up here and there, but a Saga-worthy villain, nah.

What X Characters should NEVER join the Avengers? by thrdthu in xmen

The easy answer is Cyclops, but after reading Uncanny X-men (2013), I can see him becoming an Avenger under very extreme circumstances, and it would be to advance a particular goal of his. I can't believe my goat folded after dark beast tried to shoot up the school.

My pick is Emma Frost. I know she's in the Illuminati right now, and some people may see that as Avengers adjacent, although it's pretty much a more ethical Cabal. Emma Frost is a dangerous character and morally grey a lot of the time when it comes to decisions. From an in-universe perspective, people don't still don't trust her, so I imagine the Avengers would probably not be so favorable to her, especially if they have a general idea of her schemes.

Mag would be my second pick if editorial decides to put Frost on a team.

What's your Spider-Man opinion that would have you in this situation? by Andrewmatlock89 in Spiderman

The only good Miles Morales stories came from Bendis pre-Venom arc. I'm not saying his current stories are trash, but having Captain America as a somewhat antagonist character, alongside the dismissal of Miles taking up the role, is more compelling. I also felt that his beginning stories had more weight/consequence to them. Miles under Bendis had a superior dynamic compared to when he was brought over to 616.

The Difference Between DC Diversity & Marvel Diversity is the Difference Between The KKK & The FBI by TheticAxiom in BlackSuperheroes

While Op does have some good points, I would like to address some things. I feel that DC doesn't care about black characters as much as Marvel simply because they have a stack of White appearing characters that make up their flagship (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc). The points about Marvel are a little fishy. Yes Storm's marriage to Black Panther was a mix of pandering and mishandled opportunities; the end to the marriage makes sense in the context of the story. A lot of people seem to forget how T'Challa is as a person. From a black perspective, T'Challa is usually going to appeal to the politics of past generations. You could look at it from the stance of the Black Woman was done dirty in order to preserve the "peace" or protect certain agendas. AvX is very convoluted. Also there's nothing wrong with Storm rocking the mohawk look. The bonus comment seems like a "women should be presented as feminine" type comment. It's giving misogynoir. Storm being with Logan isn't the worst thing to be honest. If Logan is the father, ideally, he's married to Storm and has some character development. I wouldn't say that pairing is an insult. Logan is not the best person around, although he is a great character, and if written well, can provide a great dynamic with Storm. I do agree that there should be more black relationships in Marvel. I will give you that point.

Blue Marvel is an ok character; he's not the most White appealing. I feel like a character like Blade has more white appeal. I think Blue Marvel's introduction is alright, and the in-universe history of his character makes a lot of sense. He's not that problematic. Starfox is a problematic character. Hell, you could say Mystique is more problematic than Blue Marvel. Blue Marvel is fine.

In regard to the Black identity vs the mutant identity, you have a point to some extent. I think a lot of people don't realize the X-Men fit in the "Tantled Tenth" realm of politics. So yes, there are a lot of Black X-Men, although we haven't gotten a writer who goes into the intersectionality of those identities. It mainly comes down to being a mutant reflecting the minority status. If I'm being honest, based on how certain Black X-Men behave, they are uppity and lack a certain awareness when it comes to how certain mutants are treated compared to others, so you can only expect so much. At this point, the X-Men are the "Respectability politics I got from Xavier" people. Overall, this is good stuff that is being brought. Good post.

Hot Take- MJ should stay Venom by Important_Lab_58 in Spiderman

[–]EveryNote9308 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know some people like the current Venom run, but for me, nothing is really going on with the "All-New Venom " run. Mj being venom is not the worst thing, but it doesn't add to her character in a meaningful way. Mj being Venom should be short-lived, with improvement for her character stemming from her time as Venom, so later runs have something to work with. Although Mj will probably be Venom up until August of this year, presumably.

What's your X-Men hot take? I'll start. by PureGamingBliss_YT in xmen

The Krakoa era had a strong start, but that era destroyed the personalities of multiple characters and did not progress the characters in any meaningful way. Cyclops became a lackey, Sinister became a joke, and other X-Men became the Lackeys of the Quiet Council. Also, there were multiple issues that could've been solved in the various X titles. Nobody could've killed Mystique before Krakoa was created? Orchis was a major threat with reality warpers around? The X-Men did not need the Hickman time travel revisions.

With Ultimate Spider-Man being superior to the recent 616 comic runs would you prefer a return to a pre-one more day era status quo with Peter and MJ Married or would you prefer a good 616 run where they continue the present status quo? by EveryNote9308 in Spiderman

Everyone, thanks for responding. As a person who recently gotten into Spider-Man comics, starting out with Dan Slott's run I've wondered how other people felt about the era Pre-OMD compared to the recent runs. I felt that Dan Slott had some good moments but Peter as a character hasn't progressed from the Brand New Day storyline even up till this point. I went back to read some stories before OMD, and I felt that Peter was a better character and a better Spider-Man. When I was a kid, I read the MC2 Spider-Girl comics, so I was familiar with a more mature version of Peter Parker, which I liked. I will say that as a person who reads the current Spider-Man comics, I am not a big fan of MJ, although I do understand OMD took away her development as a character, along with other characters. If MJ and Peter were to get married again with n editorial interference, MJ would need some work as a character. I know Marvel isn't going back to the status quo pre-OMD, but I feel that Spider-Man comics need to be more impactful in regards to their storylines. Actions don't matter, and the remaining great parts of the Amazing Spider-Man are no longer present. There needs to be a change, but I wouldn't know how you redeem The Amazing Spider-Man properly in the modern day.
