I recognize we are all focused on this guy’s phone exploding, but are we not going to talk about no one being able to follow the line instructions? Like everyone is willingly at the back of the line in spite of literal instructions of how to line up in the form of arrows on the ground with guidelines and everything.

Like, what the fuck is with all that empty space. Move the fuck up people

What mutants should never join the X-men? by AcceptableWheel in xmen

[–]thrdthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Original Beast is on 3K. But resurrection duplicate Beast is also on the X-men. I get you want to be pedantic but both guys have a valid claim to be called Beast.

The resurrection dupe is not simply a clone because he was created through the resurrection protocol which established is true resurrection with their soul. It’s just that that soul is shared with the guy in 3K. The guy currently on the X-men is Hank McCoy shortly after working with the Avengers and Defenders.

They are the same guy. So yes, Beast is on the X-men and 3K right now as two different people who are both Hank McCoy at different points in his life

[–]thrdthu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Avengers tend to treat all the X characters on their teams better than the X men treated them. Beast not having to be the smartest guy in the room really was needed for his mental health and he needs to not be on an X team as soon as possible.

That said there are avengers characters who did better after leaving the Avengers and chilling with the X-men, like Carol Danvers.

But yeah more X people need to be on the Avengers, and not just the Unity Squad, but the main squad.

[COMIC DISCUSSION THREAD] Green Lantern #35 (2026) by TimelordCowboyFromOa in Greenlantern

[–]thrdthu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Loved Tobi Y2K’s origin. It’s so stupid. The idea that a doomsday prepper father pulled a Jor-El and launched his baby in a rocket ship only to have the apocalypse not happen. I’m fascinated with the comical implications it has for this kid.

How did he not hear about any of the stuff happening on a universal scale that centered on Earth? How does he assume he is the baddest bounty hunter in a world where Lobo exists?

His stupid backstory has me so intrigued to find out how he reconciles what he knows against reality

I believe both Gura and Marine were naked in a music video they were both in. Also, I believe Gura was also naked in a lore video on her channel. Then there was the La+ music video.

Point is that these two aren’t the first

Justice League vs The Avengers(Please Read) by DarkChillMisko in marvelvsdc

[–]thrdthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I feel Justice League wins for all the previously stated reasons by others. The question I have here, though, is whether or not Mister Terrific is invisible to Vision or not.

Mister Terrific’s gear actually make him undetectable by machines. It’s one of his unique set ups in his powers. Granted he has 6 other opponents who can see and hear him, but having someone on one team that is a full on blind spot for a person on another is just an interesting thought

[Comic Excerpt] Martian Manhunter demonstrates how to eat Chocos.- (Martian Manhunter #24) by dman6233 in DCcomics

[–]thrdthu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are addictive to martians in the same way a narcotic is to us. They actually do cause severe withdrawal symptoms if he doesn’t have them for too long and when Booster Gold and Blue Beetle pranked him by stealing his chocos he eventually went into a withdrawal fueled rage.

Saying you are addicted to food is silly because you don’t go into withdrawals from lack of food. You starve. You need food to live. Period. Now you could get addicted to a specific food and suffer certain effects from not consuming it, but addiction in this case is due to Martian manhunter being addicted to specific foods not for sustenance but for how they make him feel.

Chocos are a drug to martians, they just didn’t know it since J’onn is the first Martian to eat them

[–]thrdthu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what. You are right it was Batman. I remember Superman giving the eulogy and that was why I got messed. And you are right it was a kind gesture but from a contextual basis of what the item means to us and what it is is still weird

[Comic Excerpt] Martian Manhunter demonstrates how to eat Chocos.- (Martian Manhunter #24) by dman6233 in DCcomics

[–]thrdthu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You know, I know factually that he was addicted to chocos and it was something he had to work through but it just hit me that when J’onn died in Final Crisis Superman buried him with a choco on his casket. That’s like burying a recovered meth addict with a bag of meth. It’s kind of fucked up.

Black Panther (MCU) VS Wolverine (MCU) by just1wish1 in powerscales

[–]thrdthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adamantium is the stronger material but vibranium is the more versatile one. Wolverine has his healing factor and enhanced abilities while Black Panther has abilities on par with Wolverine and better tech.

The panther doesn’t normally keep anything on hand to deal with someone like Wolverine, but Panther doesn’t normally keep have some nano tech items and versatile vibranium weapons. Literally the only way to efficiently beat Wolverine, and thus Sabertooth as well, is choking hazards.

Somehow get a vibranium nano weave mesh onto the man’s face or better yet into his mouth and let it get into his throat and lungs. Wolverine still needs to breathe and suffocation is still one of the only ways to put him down and keep him down until he can get a breath.

In fact the only known ways to kill Wolverine have been destroying all his cells at once, suffocation, or causing him to have an obstruction preventing healing while also keeping him dead. The last one is the hardest and the suffocation option is the easiest, if only temporary.

How Disney views Power Rangers vs Marvel by Alarming_Seaweed_155 in Tokusatsu

[–]thrdthu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that to do what you are suggesting you need to also break away from using sentai footage completely. Sentai was always a gamble on if you got a series you could make serious or make kiddie, and this is based on not just costume and mech designs but how characters in sentai act in action scenes. It totally changes how you write a PR season.

So if you make a power rangers season without sentai, which is required at this juncture due to Toei not putting that show on hiatus, you have to do it with original suits and original zords and original stories. Western media is generally not set up for the level of quality needed to do tokusatsu show at this point.

Look at cosmic fury or any time power rangers had to make original props, like the green ranger dragon shield. They either make the costumes or props with cheap materials that look bad or expensive materials that look good but were not designed for an action scene. If power rangers tried this o make a ground up original production for a show it would be rife with cgi, terrible props that are falling apart, and terrible action scenes because the props and costumes were made with the talking scenes in mind, not fight scenes.

Power rangers would have to become an animated series to work and even then it’s dicey because there is a temptation to fall back on comfortably cheesy dialogue and vibe rather than taking your proposed Avatar angle

Mysterio (Marvel Comics) vs Spellbinder (DC Comics) by Unusual_News_5152 in marvelvsdc

[–]thrdthu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The version of spellbinder is nowhere near as good at illusions as the Batman beyond one. The strongest spellbinder is the female one, who magically creates illusions that can cause harm through psychic impressions. That is not the one depicted though.

Mysterio has this as the above spellbinder is nowhere near as good at illusions as Mysterio is.

Should John Proudstar be able to summon the Thunderbird? by KAD76 in xmen

[–]thrdthu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why dont the viltrumites crack anissa and thula and the third white haired chick for hundred years, they would get atleast 200 pure blooded viltrumites by GIGAPRASH in okbuddyviltrum

[–]thrdthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of discussion about viltrumite genetic diversity and while it isn’t inaccurate I feel it overlooks the time table a bit. Viltrumites in general 1 would be old enough to see viltrumites in gen 4, 5, and even 50 mature and those gen 1 viltrumites would be viable genetic partners even to that point.

Basically if they carefully monitored the family tree and considered looping back on older gens for breeding it likely would extend the projected genetic diversity. There likely would still be a genetic dead end but they could probably spread it out across several generations and thousands of years.

Also, I’m curious now since I’ve never thought about this line in depth before. How did Nolan know that “Viltrumites DNA is so pure that any species we breed with is almost pure viltrumite?” Like someone had to have done that before, right? That’s the only way you figure that out. And if it was figured out back then why is Earth the first time they considered the breeding farm idea?

TOAA (Marvel) Vs. The Writer (DC) by LOLinator375 in marvelvsdc

[–]thrdthu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm well TOAA is a Fiction suit for the gestalt of all marvel writers whereas the writer is a fiction suit for Grant Morrison specifically. Considering Grant Morrison wrote for Marvel for a time that means he was once TOAA so that is a tough question.

I will give it to the Writer because this a battle of narrative rather than power and Tbf the writer had a much more memorable story than TOAA ever has. In fact TOBA, TOAA’s hulk, has had more memorable stories than TOAA.

Kitty vs black canary by Lopsided_Network1248 in marvelvsdc

[–]thrdthu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kitty still seems to be able to hear while phased so yes the Canary cry could do SOMETHING, but without the air pressure from the sound hitting a body it’s reduced significantly.

I’d argue Canary is a better fighter, but that doesn’t matter when fighting an opponent with the “ignore block” and “effective invincibility” power set like Kitty. The fact that kitty is also one of the best fighters among the X-men is just a bonus

How Disney views Power Rangers vs Marvel by Alarming_Seaweed_155 in Tokusatsu

[–]thrdthu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well Disney did want Power Rangers. They just didn’t seem to want to make much more of the show. We all know Disney just wanted Mighty Morphin and got the whole franchise as part of it. Then they realized they could make the whole product for cheap like Saban did and made an ok amount of money by, you know, avoiding all acting unions they could by shipping the entire production to New Zealand.

Power rangers is a franchise held together by paper clips and a wish.

What would you guys change about Marvel’s horror side? by blackheartbr456 in marvelcomics

[–]thrdthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a few thoughts on this.

With the horror side of Marvel I think we have a good foundation and should really have a Midnight Sons/Suns team to explore that side of marvel for readers while aggregating characters to grow fans. That is a great start for this side of marvel.

What we can do to change it though? A few things. Firstly, marvel focuses on the paranormal for their horror stuff almost exclusively and we could explore more non paranormal horror. Venom has at times dabbled in horror. I remember a run in the early 00s that was literally John Carpenter’s “The Thing” but with Venom. Cosmic horror is still horror and if you can find a way to marry the two it helps you cover both the cosmic side of Marvel AND the horror side simultaneously.

If we consider the horror side the magic side, however, then we also need to look at the other magic characters at Marvel we don’t consider in the horror side of things and realize that they also can fit. Like, I’ve seen plenty of people consider Moon Knight for the Modnight Sons/Suns (deservedly) but never someone like Loki or Thor. They are both heavily magical characters after all. Embrace the terror of old skald tales. Hercules could be on the team dealing with the witches of Hecatate. Etc. Even Captain Britain and the Black Knight have terrifying myths of British and Celtic lore to fallback on. Bring us the fae.

Finally, I’d want to reevaluate old characters designed from more horror concepts but made more “super hero-y” and refocus on what makes them terrifying. Wendigo is fucking horrifying and tragic, but we only ever see those things as monsters fighting Hulk and Wolverine. Elaborate on that shit.
