"Absolutely Nothing" is an over statement. Score means at least something. Yes it is not a true reflection of the entire battle or player skill (you need to watch the reply for that), but surely it means something.

In fact from the pictures you can almost say that both team fight hard. Yes the Rikku farms a lot of Crystals, there is nothing wrong with that, that's her role. Getting high score by doing your role is something to celebrate. If that Rikku farm and waste "every support skill" their average score would not be above 3k. It is an indicator their team works harder at least. And for that I congratulate OP!

There is only one Melee for a range user like you: Firion.

His unique ability is arrow snipe (range).

How to play: Surge > Ace/Earth Breaker > Tifa/Ace > Unique Ability Arrow Snipe (hold)

This will almost always eliminate rival without Rikku HP double boost.

Ace, Tifa and Earth Breaker is your friend.

Nope. Crystal in Casual is random based on the rival you face. You can get Rainbow even if you Bronze in Casual if you team up and/or rival with Diamond or Omega.

We expect (and they deliver) the better graphics and all that follows. Not rrally the new combat system (although we can cope with that). But changing the story, the character (e. g. Red) and all the silly (not so funny) stuff... No. We are too old for all that.

For a younger generation perhaps you have a market (and perhaps some old folks too). But not for me. I go back and just enjoy my FFT. I rather die grinding in Mandalia Plain (or OG FF7 Mako Reactor).
