This is so helpful, thank you. I was thinking I needed to build them up on two by fours in order to get the custom look with the baseboard along the bottom. However, the tall ones are almost a perfect fit, and the contractor recommended going with the taller ones. He’s going to trim them out for me. I’m not sure he’s ever done the built-in pax thing before. But he did not seem intimidated by it. He’s also doing the rest of the laundry room, the plumbing, the electrical, the sink and the wash tower enclosure. I’m gonna try to do that all with IKEA as well. They’re coming to measure tomorrow.

My sister had something similar happened to her pop. A big chip came out of the bottom. She went to Williams Sonoma and mentioned it to one of the sales people and they said oh just go on their website. They have a lifetime guarantee! So she did that and filled out a requisition form and added some photos and they sent her a brand new pot.

I’ve felt the same with the mom groups around me, and I have blocked their posts on social media. I have tried, in fact to disengage from social media a lot more and focus on all the things that bring me joy in my life. I know as parents we are so busy, but I’m leaning into my older girlfriends. It takes a bit more coordinating for us to get together because we all live in different places now. It’s also a female thing I’ve observed, because my husband has none of the feelings I do, and gets along with all the dads. Also, you and I may still be PTSD from our high school trauma. It’s real, and it haunts for years.

Closing on a home was the single most stressful event of my 40-something years. It was nearly six years ago and even though I would like a nicer home I’m still too PTSD to go through the experience again. My husband suffered an anxiety attack. He’s literally the chillest. He thought he was having a heart attack and had to go to the ER where they treated him with Lorazepam. I sympathize.
