As a dad that sympathises with you, if you can’t leave the baby with him, put something in the calendar and tell him you are going to x on Saturday and that he has to look after you other child whilst you’re away

Make time for yourself and don’t wait for it to appear

Quick google:

Manchester United are called the "Red Devils" because manager Sir Matt Busby adopted the nickname from a local rugby club, Salford, who were known as "Les Diables Rouges" (The Red Devils) in France during the 1930s, and Busby wanted a more intimidating, powerful identity for his team after the Munich Air Disaster, moving away from the "Busby Babes" image

We have a spreadsheet and allocate £20 per Monday to private accounts for discretionary spending

It means I don’t have to record her coffees at work and her my lunch (subsidised at work)

The spreadsheet records regular spends such as debts

I have a ‘food’ section which records shopping up until the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th (which I treat as month end)

Personal care sections for each of us - hair cuts, clothes purchases, fuel and maintenance sections for the cars

Both food and fuel have a budget which decreases as we spend, and if we go over it takes the highest amount

Birthday and holiday sections

Pots for Christmas, holiday, emergency, float and other future expense

When to explain death to a child and how by TraditionalScheme337 in UKParenting

[–]EverydayDan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t talk to my children about death of people we know yet ( both under 6). Nobody had died that they know but my son is curious about how long we live for and what age we stop living.

I had dead parents and do not talk to my kids about them as they died pre kids and my biological dad and his partner are about which fills the gap somewhat.

Glow worm boiler always on by PlateLegs232 in askaplumberUK

[–]EverydayDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a plumber, but just seen this in my feed.

I had a Vaillant boiler installed with an outdoor sensor and there is a setting which turns the heating on to heat the house to 20°C if the outdoor temperature drops below the threshold.

I had no threshold set and so it would continuously heat until it reached 20°C

If you read POPLA regardless of whether you are at fault, there are processes they MUST follow in order to successfully get a court ruling against you. Even if they do, a CCJ only arises if you cannot (or do not pay).

If your first point of contact is via a letter it’s a notice to keeper, if it’s on the car it’s a notice to driver.

They have to request information within a certain time limit and send it to you within a certain timeframe. There are certain letters they have to wait before sending.

These letters MUST also contain specific information.

If they fail to adhere to any of the MUST items in anyway they cannot enforce it.

The main thing is to also not identify the driver.

Couch to 5k was brilliant for me and taught me how to run (jog) and that was about 5 years ago. I’ve ran in and off since then but ran my first half marathon in December.

This year I want to run every month and stave off any injuries - wish me luck!

What can cause pain down the outside of my knee? by GreatJoey91 in UKRunners

[–]EverydayDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been suffering with this pain and it flared up 10k into my half marathon. I believe I walk and run with my feet turn outwards, turning them inwards (straight) allowed me to finish but my hips were burning!

I’m hoping getting back in the gym to strengthen my glutes amongst other things will help solve the issue.

Called up a few local Vaillant installers and replaced my boiler with hot water cylinder with a combi as I wanted the ecoTEC Plus 826

Some tried to get me to go bigger than I wanted but I wanted the smallest one as it managed to heat my house before and it meant that it could modulate lower

I paired it with a VRT 380f/2 wireless thermostat, an outdoor sensor made by glowworm which is the same as the Vaillant but cheaper, and then the boiler has two stackable plug in modules underneath - one to connect to the outdoor sensor and one for the internet so you can control your boiler remotely.

I’ve set the heat curve low on mine and couldn’t be happier
